A week of ups and downs comes to a conclusion.

Had some good races at Monza, but also some facepalm-events. I rarely raced B and didn‘t touch A.

Today was my most active day. Notable events: barely manage a no-stopper on hards with very short shifting and meager mixture in the R8 and finish 4th.

Also in one race I barely touched a Z4 in Variante Retifilo so that he stays on the track but then is slighty pushed into a Porsche who then pushes it off the track: 3 seconds for me.

Then on Dragon Tail I had some good racing with a Finn. However in Lap 5 he went off the 5-righthander. I had already passed him when he merged to the track in an unsafe and aggressive way but bounced back when he hit me: 5 seconds for me.

Now this week I went down to DR D from C and up to SR S from A and now after the last race I‘m back at DR C but again down to SR S.

Seems as if Schroedinger‘s theorem also applies to ratings: If you have one, you can‘t have the other.

The Daily Races are a cool idea in general as You don't need to wait for lobbies but I think there are too few of them.

I mean only 3 races that you can do for the whole WEEK, where one of them i a nonsense race with some kind of a ****** car like Toyota Yaris or Fiat 500. You need to have some kind of a small and slow car fetish to do this for the whole week. And even if you are I think you may get bored.

IMO there should be 4 Daily Races categories where you would have a race with one of the car categories:
Daily Race A: NXXX or Gr. 4 cars
Daily Race B: Gr.3 or Gr.2 cars
Daily Race C: Gr.1 or Gr.X cars
Daily Race D: Rally / Drift competition.

With this setup you would have interesting races each week. It makes me sick when I need to wait the whole week to change a race.
The alternative is to race Audi TT in 2 out of 3 daily races until I puke with Audi logos like I'm some kind of a Sonic Hedgehog.

Besides they are too short. I like the idea that the Daily Race C is around 10 laps with fuel and tire usage. We should have more of those.
Without the pit stop, during 5 laps what can you do? Become last when you get rammed, that's about it. 0 chance for redemption during a 4/5 lap race.

I need time to learn the tracks man ...

And when you first start the game, race "A" is the only one you're allowed to get into. It's more of a starter race IMO. It helped me with momentum, and often throttle control. Momentum is a key to even driving the top cars quickly IMO - go look at how the Aliens qualify. Last week in Race "A" they had an early 1950's Porsche speedster Carrera with the twin cam boxer motor ... it was a fun race IMO.

I'd hate to have rallies ... because IMO GTS and PD have the worst rally physics in the whole world. I keep getting daily rally cars - and the game requests me keeping them. OK I also win a lot of twin cam Toyota Corollas from the early '80's. I would like an alternative to the acceptance button, so that I could make them simply explode.

My guess for Race A next week (GR4 | Specially Provided Car) is the 86.

Next event at Autopolis is June 15 - 2019 86/BRZ Race.

I was watching some of this Series on YouTube. Jump to 15:00 on this first video the racing starts on Rd. 1 Suzuka. Crazy # of cars. Liveries are just like the game.

Long week, again next week :) It should be a lot easier and a lot less time consuming on the Brand's hatch daily B. Less laps, less forgiving, less dive opportunities. Just the penalty zone slow downs to worry about.

I can't see how you'll be able to do it at Brands. It's tight and a lap takes just a bit under 90 seconds. The only place I reckon I could overtake there is on the straight, but going to the right side of the track ... and if you do that, someone will cut the right side and punt you as you leave the long right curve. If you're not on the right, they'll take the right and squeeze you off.

And if you make the turn, they can cut the right hand corner - the start of a sort of chicane - and punt you by aiming for your right had side door when you'll straightening up from the right turn (corner 2).

Then there is the next left turn - you are also open there too because the quickest way to make that left turn is to open up the left corner by going to the right side ... so they'll aim left and hit you as you close to the Apex ... or they'll maybe just cut the whole corner and aim for you by taking some grass.

And then there is the right turn which leads onto the straight ...

I reckon there's little room to pass at Brands ...

If you don't get re-set I'll buy you a beer.

OK you can have one now ...

Realised too late in the day/week that we could probably have been competitive at DTG. I'd avoided it up until this evening as . But thought what the heck given I'm not sure what (if anything) I'll do this week coming, now.

Sold out and visited Huracan country on the basis there's no point getting used to another garage Gr.4 for Autopolis. Found the meta-machine to be a very nice drive, not the understeering brick I gave up with at Interlagos. Posted a little 1.41.070 after a few tries which was good enough to start P6 & 8 in the two races I did.

I finished P8 & 9 respectively as I little bit too nice in the hairpin on occasion. First race got me clean race bonus, but I took .5secs for too much curb T4 in race 2. Finished both SR in the blue.

Quite enjoyable. More so that the long races in Monza earlier in the week. Shame.

Onwards to whatever I decide to donate my DR to next week then.

About 70% of people on Brand's go off sooner or later. I only need to actually overtake 1 or 2 cars to gain p10 positions there

The straight is good to pass, or right after on the way to the druids, hug the inside, or hug the inside through Surtees as many go wide there. The run up to Hawthorn bend works, Clearways is good after a better corner exit. Heck even through Dingle Bell works. People are a lot more careful with bumping on Brand's as chances are high they'll end up in the grass as well.

Of course true dirty will also be harder to dodge :/

This got me thinking that if there was damage enabled in daily races, people would think twice about punting and purposely making contact with others. FIA races have mechanical damage set to light which I think would be a good place to start. It's pretty impactful, causing you to lose speed while damage is reset.

The only downside is you'll have innocent people incurring damage from the punter. I have wondered if it will or whether it's ever been considered to migrate over, similar to how penalty zones were.

I'm giving up on 1:47.500. If I carry on trying to hit it, I won't have time left to catch a race or two. Final Q attempt, 1:47.661.

I probably could have got into the 47.4/5xx on that lap, had it not been for the small bump/slide coming out of della Roggia.

Now its time for a cup of cup of tea, and a smoke. Then we jump into the 02:00 UK time race.

Something different for me tonight, I did 2 qualifying laps before racing with the Mustang, 1:48.1 will do. First race I start 3rd, get bumped into second in T1, pass to first until the pit. In the pit the GT-R behind me jumps over a second ahead of me and I can't catch up anymore, 2nd place.

Second race, started 3rd again. Got in second by couldn't catch up to the GT-R (winner from previous race) having lost too much time already overtaking the Porsche that started in between us. In the pit I get jumped by 2 cars, or rather by 1.8 cars. The second is half merged in me, collision effects mess us up a bit when we separate then I get a 1.5 sec penalty for nicking too much kerb on the first bit of the chicane avoiding the Porsche. How on earth is that 1.5 sec gained, while someone punting two cars off and gaining heaps of time gets 1 second lol. 1.5 sec also turns almost into 3 sec lost at the penalty zone. Just bump into the other car next time, much cheaper! Anyway, I caught up to the Porsche, passed, finished 3rd. No time left to catch up to 2nd again.

Starting 3rd is pretty safe so far, also pretty boring for races when you're used to dodging and overtaking half the field

Starting 4th next, 1 bar connection in front, yellows behind, this could be interesting :/ Yep 4th is too far back. Got punted by the MacBWaren behind me into the path of 3rd. The penalty system got it right yet bad start. I climbed up to first until the pit where I got jumped by 2 GT-Rs sigh. I passed one but by then had lost the connection to first. Same driver won again.

This is starting to get repetitive lol. I should get to bed early anyway, I have lot of sleep to catch up on. One more.

Starting 12th next :nervous: Yep dive bomb at the start who somehow got away with it. He rammed passed me, luckily no penalty for me. A bit later another GT-R dive bombs me in T1, I avoid then move to overtake on the inside for the second chicane. I'm ahead at turn in on the inside, yet he drives into me and takes a short cut. I get 2 sec penalty. He did not finish the race, I lost 12 SR for that race to 87, fell almost to last from the quarrel and finished 11th in the end. Backfield is dirty.

Another one then to restore SR or leave SR.S behind

I started 6th in the naughty room. The MacBWaren behind me got the jump on me for T1 which was great since behind him was a Viper SRT which created a nice safety gap for me to slot in behind the MacBWaren. Then the mess began. One went off in the second chicane slowing the field down thus the rest of the field caught up. I got punted off in Ascari by a Brazilian GT-R coming from behind, then again by another Brazilian GT-R drive bomb in T1. Both times they got the penalty so after the penalty zone they were gone, sometimes it works, although now they were in the backfield which is how I usually end up with these characters in my path.

After recovering from the punt and ram I caught up to the MacBWaren, passed him on the straight start of lap 3 and started building up a gap. However in lap 4 the GT-R in front of me dive bombs a Mustang into Ascari and I have to brake hard to avoid, letting the MacBwaren catch back up. The Mac tries to out brake me into Parabolica and taps my right rear. I go slightly wide but recover, no penalty issued and dive into to the pit for an early pit.

Out of the pit I get behind some unruly drivers but one drives himself off so the other can speed up enough not to slow me down much. Then I met the original MacBWaren as he came out of the pit, crossed over to the left, so I avoided to the right and passed him in the braking zone. That got me in 3rd where I stayed growing the gap to the Mac but not catching up to second fast enough. Finished 3rd, penalty free, +7 SR to 94.

Enough for the week. Definitely enough of Monza and GT-Rs. Please let it not be the meta on Brand's hatch!

Faster than EERIEISSSS?

Happy bearded man is happy.

Started practicing Brands Hatch. I never nailed it down very well in GTS, but I had it pretty tight in PC2. Surtees just feels like it goes on forever! I'm looking forward to it- it's a challenging circuit.

Back up to C after a couple more Monza runs. We'll see how the lobbies treat me. I still feel more like a D.

You're 0.02 faster than me as well :)

I just clicked on a few UK people near me on the leaderboard, and they were all in the 35-40k DR range, so I'm pretty happy with this week, but I already knew I liked Monza, I'm not expecting it to translate into the same level of performance everywhere else.

Two more at Monza. Decided to race the 'Vette. It's lazy power delivery, and overall lazy approach to going quick seems to help my consistency.

Started 4th, here. But, picked up a penalty, and then ran wide at the left for Rettifilo.

This was better. No real mistakes. Just a lack of pace in the second stint. Still, an improvement in position is always good.

DR is up to 25,729. A gain of 1175 from those two races.

Another tea/smoke break, then it's another two of three races before I need to sleep.

I'm definitely getting matched with higher rated drivers. I don't think my door number has been in single digits at any point this week. I'm not getting destroyed either. So, a massive boost in confidence.

I don't enjoy Monza as much as I do some other circuits. But, I'm generally quick here in anything other than Gr.1 cars.

I've used the GT-R in Race B once. There's just one at least, in an Oceania race.

:idea:Think I've figured it out. Remember in the olden days, back when Sport Mode was in its infancy last year? People were complaining about being smashed in D races and C races. Well, I believe the race ruiners(rr) figured, if they move up to A, they can cause more grief.

It's logical. Create havoc for the majority that race fair and clean. It doesn't take much to get bumped down and then climb back up to A. RR can do this for infinity.

I reckon I've had 20 suggestions for lowering those that like and are very willing to make contact ... but I also end up saying that PD want to have such crashes because they must presume that is what the majority of drivers want.

So here is another suggestion:

Have fines allocated to each crash.

What is the prize money for a race win? 30,000 - 100,000 plus clean race bonuses? Depending on the race? So install a fine system, and also, for the second fine a driver gets in a race, your first fine doubles. And for the 3rd fine you get, the second fine doubles. And on and on ... For the 4th fine, its double the 3rd fine in that race.

So lets give the base fine @$15,000. 2nd fine in the race: $30,000. 3rd fine in the race is $60,000. 4th time you get a fine, its $120,000. And for a 5th one, its $240,000. So if you get three separate SR reductions in one race, it costs you $105,000. 4 is $225,000. The magic 5: $465,000 (15+30+60+120+240).

So a driver has had three SR downs in a race already - is he really going to take revenge if its going to cost him $120,000?

I have a feeling that a lot of the crashers like money .... maybe they'll understand fines.

And if you get a million dollars in fines in one day - then your base fine penalty increases to $30,000. Which would mean for 5 separate SR reductions in a race, your penalty would be: 30+60+120+240+480=$1,030,000. I reckon that would hurt the multiple crasher guys quite a bit.

And since PD seems to want people to pay real cash for cars, then maybe the crasher types might have to pay real money to buy their cars ...

Aaaaand, that's it. It's been a fun but frustrating week at Monza.

Final three races in the 'Vette.

Turn one chaos. Decent recovery.

Same again.

FINALLY!!! The elusive podium. This one was good. Great race with a Russian, and Czech. Both in the GTR.

The Czech dominated the second stint, while me and the Russian attacked/defended. Unfortunately, there was a little contact entering the Parabolica on the last lap. Not enough to effect the outcome of the race. But, enough to deny me the clean race bonus.

Grand total of 3,484 DR points gained this week, over 11 races. That bumps me up to a new all time high of 26,777.

They were quite a few wild moments for me last night, more that I expected. Then again I don't often play on a Sunday. As the Citroen didn't really work too well, I took the Subaru out for the Dragon Trail Gardens race. My qualifying lap wasn't great and not really indicative of my true pace, so it made for some entertainment. I started in 4th behind two Huracans and the battle kicked off almost instantly. The Subaru, despite it's understeer was performing rather well compared to the Citroen and I found myself in 2nd on lap 3. The leader had buggered off, so I had to fight it out for second. On lap 4 I went off at the first corner and was immediately set upon by the two Lambos. I held my place through the chicane but had a compromised line. At the ultra wide hairpin, I was divebombed and got bumped to third. Yet I very quickly regained the place and began to move away, until the last lap. I thought I had it in the bag going into the second last corner, when the guy behind pulled an idiotic move to the inside, giving me a fair hit. He stayed on the inside whilst gathering up the slide and hit me off the track on the next corner. The guy in fourth was right there also and almost got by the two of us, but it wasn't to be. I held onto my place and the guy who bumped me got penalised. Hooray!

But that wasn't all. For the Monza race, I tried the Vantage GT3 and boy is that a tough cookie to handle. A heap of torque and a short wheelbase makes it extremely volatile, and slides were frequent. Go near the throttle at the wrong time and it will try to kill you. Yet it's very fast on the straights which matters most. Started 9th on the hard tyre in my first attempt at the race, which didn't start very well. I got pushed trying to keep the car in check and made an absolute mess of it, but after a while I got it together. I pitted at the start of lap 6, one lap later than everyone else and switched to mediums. I found myself back in 9th, and instantly started to gain on the two blokes ahead. I though that I'd have to fight them to gain some more places, but no. They tangled on the exit of Ascari and I got distracted, putting the car in the gravel. Luckily I didn't spin and kept going to finish 7th. Next race I started 13th and chose the mediums instead. That got quite hectic as well and people were going mad. Things came to a crashing heap on lap 8, where I copped a penalty for cutting the second chicane. After the slow down zone, I had two choices: get in the way of the guys coming up behind or let then go and instantly lose 3 places. I got in the way, which didn't go down well. At the Ascari chicane, the guy who hit me purposely cut the track and punted me into the gravel. His loss? Not even a second. Mine? 18 seconds. What a joke. A simple shove would do instead of a cowardly punt. I was 15th. I scored a fifth for the third race, but threw a podium away by screwing up the second corner and spinning.

What a day.
