You’re not supposed to use your good account for back starts, that’s what Alt accounts are for. ;)

Every time an alt account is created, a Gelfling looses her wings......:nervous:

The penalties at Tertre Rouge may very well be the leading cause of controllers flying out of apartment windows.

No penalties at Tertre Rouge so far :p. In the past I was getting penalties from going too wide, but I think I have managed to work out where I have to be to keep my tyres off the blue .

Got back up to 90 SR, in a A/S lobby, and what happens? I end up losing 21 SR and dropping down to 69...

It all started because one of the guys in the group c cars overtook me as we were going into the 2nd chicane after the straight, but then instead of holding the same line he swerved across in front of me so he could get the right line for the chicane, but of course braked like a metre in front of me leaving me no chance to avoid a collision.

And subsequently a 4 second penalty, even though he essentially brake checked me.

It's bad enough making my own mistakes at this track, but that type of **** is just ...ugh

I don't think I agree with Sarthes 0.5 penalties not hampering you, the one at the first straight does.

Basically any penalty zone that is on a long straight will hurt you for more than the actual penalty time, because of the speed difference to the other cars.

a 0.5 penalty at Sarthe on that first straight, costs you more than 0.5, as opposed to the awesome penalty zone at Sardegna at the top of the hill, which basically cost you nothing because it was already in a braking zone anyway.

True, but I lose more by taking Tetre rouge the correct way than someone gunning through it and getting 0.5 sec penalty... They break the draft on you to the first chicane with a good chance of catching the draft of another car. The 0.5 sec after the first chicane doesn't slow them down enough to catch them again. I've had it happen like that plenty times. Hence I'm driving the 962C or R92CP, you always catch up with that one :)

Penalty zones are very inconsistent, some turn a 5 sec penalty into 3 seconds lost while others turn a 1 sec penalty into 3 seconds lost. Just get rid of them and add the time at the end. Stop and go in the pit if you rack up too much time.

Sarthe has 3, first hurts the most, second not that back, third doesn't matter much. So punt people of in the Porsche and Corvette curves is what the game is saying

Yea I said for months I hate penalty zones, they just don't solve the problem at all and I wish they'd go away.

I honestly think they had it almost right with the first system, being able to bleed your penalty away.

It just maybe needed adjusting so that you'd have to actually brake way sooner than the braking zone, to start bleeding it off... instead of just bleeding it within normal braking range, that way they do actually lose the time.

it was much better for people that were hit with BS penalties too, allowing their races to be recoverable, as opposed to penalty zones which just end that.

but idk, Polyphony doesn't seem to listen to us anyway.

Man, what a race lol. Started off with a guy Fraga’in me coming through tetra rouge on lap one, give him a punt up field and get a 2’fer for it while he gets a boost. Then on lap two leading up to the same corner I hit a green pylon that someone had knocked over and fly off into the wall.

Then, I work my way back up to 3rd on the final lap only to get blatantly punted at varage d’arnage by the guy I just passed in the last corner, and somehow he got no penalty at all?? I finished less that 3 second behind him and he didn’t have to slow at the last Penalty line. I’ll upload the replay later, it turned out to be a decent race. Gonna try one more now. :)

NA top 10 list is mostly Alpines. Some guy in Japan did a 3:17.5. I haven't checked to see what he used.

I used the TS050 to set my time, which is dead last in the NA region. 👍

I'm friends with you on PSN and didn't even realize it. I always see RPMMcMurphy at the top of at least one of the my daily race friends lists.

Much better race this time, still got bumped twice in the same place, not as badly though and both times I managed to save it and they got a penalty. I finished .4 behind the guy in 2nd who should have gotten a penalty for punting the guy in front of him in that same damm place, and he got no penalty for it. Overall a much more enjoyable race. :)

Had to put the controller down and step away from GTS. Played an hour on GTA V offline.

Tatted 4 in that last race amidst TS050s. Thy know they are fast in the corners, but I still get tap tap tapped for penalties. That puts me down the order. Then, bumped which makes me skid and tyre wear is done for the rest of the race. And that was lap one.

Having to adjust my braking points and corner entry, I still misjudge the chicane corners and get 0.5 seconds. I got a penalty every lap. Finished 10th and 43 seconds from the leader. Ridiculous.

apologies if you've seen it before, but i like to watch this from time to time to just stare in awe at it - plus i was there when it happened as well.

something to aim towards this week eh guys?

This is really cool to watch after experiencing it in game with the same car. He drops down to 2nd for the Mulsanne chicanes just like in race C with the hard compounds. Makes me wish the race settings allowed for soft compounds. It'd be fun to blast around even faster with less understeer and a one-stop.

Penalty zones are good in theory, badly executed. PD fixed the solid ghost bug but nothing else. Plus the PZ only creates more incidents.

Bleeding penalties wasn't the answer either as people abused that by bleeding penalties in front of other cars and hitting the gas as soon as they got close, going solid again. And you had all those parking lot finishes

Stop 'n go in the pit or add at the end is the only way. Anything under 10 sec, keep going, add at end. Once you hit 10 sec, mandatory stop and go.

You can't balance recovering from BS penalties with penalizing bad behavior. Might as well try to make the track safer by removing penalty zones and no slowing down to bleed penalties at all.

I forgot about all of the piddly stuff you have to do when starting GTS under a new account. I'm so broke that I can't even buy the good race cars. I had to slog through so many driving experiences to get any pennies. But, it should be in fighting shape by next week (if there are any good races to be had).

Just do your daily workouts, in a few days you'll have a whole collection of Mazda Atenza's in any colour you could dream of 👍

Bah, just had a race where everyone got stuck on the grid. Eventually I had to restart the game, broken. Cost me 5 SR, no DR though since no one finished

Racing through the back is going pretty well tonight on the Nord, making up 6 or 7 positions per race. I'm finally starting lower down the grid, so have more people to overtake :) Most still crash themselves or each other out of the way, yet sneaking by a car that goes fast in slow out usually works and there's always the straight to get by.

If anything, starting at the back in Race B is a great demonstration of how many people over drive the car, and that being “slower” is in fact faster.

Bah another broken start. Standing start and of course people try to take advantage of it and make a mess on the way to the start line. The one behind me tried to overtake, cut the track bumped the car in front of him. I tried to cut in to avoid him but he dove in the spot coming from behind on the outside in the corner before the pit entry. Contact, he went off, 3 sec penalty for me before even getting past the pit entry.

I kinda lost it, happens once every thousand races :/ I chased him down, didn't let him rest, but racked up 21.5 sec in penalties lol. Down to SR.B. Let's see how it goes there. At least I won't see him again. Apologies in case you read this, I definitely over reacted, but next time don't try to take advantage of a game bug...

Racing in SR.B is actually more fun, 3rd from 12th. There was a lot of lag though but it did seem cleaner than SR.S .... Just a lot more clumsy. No penalties but red SR for, not sure.

4th place finish next, neutral SR. It's messy but fun. I can see how you get stuck in SR.B on race B. Contact is allowed plenty, penalties hardly trigger, yet SR is still deducted. I got hit from behind, bumped off, track re-entries hitting me, no one got a penalty but neutral SR.

2nd place finish, neutral SR again. Got bumped a couple times by impatient drivers. Guess I'm here to stay in SR.B. Not that it matters, there are plenty clean drivers here to race. The only difference with SR.S is that more people crash.

Another 2nd place, from 10th. What a chaotic race. I could have won that one if I hadn't been bumped and punted off several times. -7 SR from all the received blows, down to 42. All is fine with the penalty system, uhuh.

And 3rd place from 10th. People are plenty fast in SR.B. This race was one of the cleanest I've seen today. However neutral SR again, had an impatient driver behind me again, thus bang bang SR Down. One does not go past SR.B on race B unless you start at the top. One more, too much fun overtaking cars on the Nord.

4th from 13th for my last race. Some really clean driving in that race and finally blue SR +3 to 45!!! One thing that would help is if people stopped approaching it as a drift race and don't go sideways through every corner. It's comedy, the one I finished behind even did the Scandinavian flick for the final corner before the line. It is true you can't squeeze through the inside when the car in front uses up the whole width of the road while 'cornering'

I must say the atmosphere is much more relaxed in SR.B. No arguments after the race, most people simply leave. So far no intentional revenge punts, just a lot of "why would you try to overtake there, like that"

Managed a top 5 placement in Race C. Which also was my first time actually completing the full race. Previous attempts were around 10-12th and I wouldn't make the 60s cutoff after 1st finished.

Started in 6th which was smack on the chicane with the rolling start and I spun from the red sausage curb. Worked my way back to 5th and almost got 4th when a VGT spun out, but finished about 2s behind them in the end.
Absolutely loving the Race C this week. It's such a white knuckle thrill the entire race. Think I'll try out the Peugeot tomorrow to see if it gives the VGT cars more of a challenge than the Toyota.

it's also accurate on the fuel usage as well... it was reported this year at Le Mans that the Toyota's were getting 1 extra lap than all the other LMP1 cars with the same amount of fuel.

Gave the Le Mans daily a spin in the LM55. Qualified fourth and took third place while no stopping it. I was only a couple seconds off taking second place but had to limp home on fuel. Anyone else try no stopping it? The LM55 is decent for fuel economy but I bet a hybrid would be better. The Peugeot 908 with its diesel might also be better on fuel but it's not as easy on the tires.
