Just to ask, which one out of the three british manufacturers is the most competitive on an all-round basis? Aston Martin, Jaguar or McLaren?

Heard Aston Martin was great, Jaguar decent and McLaren sucked, but not sure. I have to decide on which one to sign with. I love McLaren's cars but Aston Martin's aren'r far behind. Jaguar is eh for me, I like the Gr.4 car but the Gr.3 rendition is more understeery than I would like.

Mainly asking since this week has both a Gr.4 race and a Gr.3 race. Perfect opportunity to get used to them. :cheers:

Off to a great start today

And as you can see, I forgot to change tires again, thus pit after lap 1 doh.

First off...before I start today's rant...I'll say that Daily B was great fun last night. Generally clean driving. Some very pushy Spanish that I had to concede places to at times rather than be run off the track. They could have been much dirtier races if I'd decided to give as good as I got. Generally once drivers like that pass me they do annoy the next car and get shoved off pretty soon so I rarely lost the place for long. In fact, you nearly always make up 2 places by letting fools get by because the next car gets annoyed, shoves the idiot off so solves the idiot issue and picks up a penalty for the job. Other than that though it was tight racing, everyone knowing what line to be on, a tiny error on any given corner has you lose a draft or have someone up your tail. Proper stuff!

Anyhoo...I should know better than to start the whole topic of points for races again because even if someone answers (hi @Sven Jurgens ) I still won't understand the answer.

Compare 2 races (I'm DR B / SR S):

1: Lobby is full DR B / SR S. Start 5th, finish 6th, get 6 or 700 points (can't recall the exact but in that region). Happy enough to drop a place, not finish in top 5 and still gain DR but was a bit surprised.

2: Lobby is DR S-A-B / SR S. Start 11th, finish 7th with 3 DR A behind me. Get little or no points - was 21,800 (not sure of exact) and finished with 21,800 (not sure of exact) so can't recall if I gained or lost 10 or 20 points.

Now, one race everyone was DR B and I lost a place. The other I beat DR A and gained 4 places. Both races finished only 1 place apart and neither in top 5. It does not add up to me that I'd gain points for beating other DR B drivers but not for beating DR A, or that I'd gain points for losing a place but not for gaining 4.

It's quite simple
mathematical_formula_handwritten_edition_vector_521072.jpg

I calculated it through a couple times, it all checks out, matchmaking is to blame for weird stuff happening

For example:

A 19871 -> 20293
B 412 -> 1064
C 16766 -> 16933
D 5250 -> 5489
E 1 -> 183 - 40 - 79 - 46 - 69 + 90 + 81 + 82 + 80 + 83
F 5312 -> 5230
G 967 -> 812
H 1298 -> 979
I 1 -> 1 - 40 - 79 - 46 - 69 - 80 - 69 - 78 - 77 + 83
J 1931 -> 1280

Total before: 51,809
Total after: 52,264 +455

That's DR of everyone in the race (A) before and after. I didn't record the starting position or positions gained as it matters not. I was actually interested in what happens when DR.1 players lose points, the system simply adds them, hence no zero sum exchange in this case. Normally the total DR before and after is exactly the same. (Unless someone goes over 75K and points get removed)

The points exchange between each 2 players is 80 + (DR difference / 500).

E loses 40 points to A
DR difference is 19870, divided by 500 = 39.74
Winner has higher DR thus 80 - 39.74 = 40 (rounded down), points go to A

And E gains 83 points from J
DR difference is 1930, divided by 500 = 3.86
Winner has lower DR thus 80 + 3.86 = 83 (rounded down), points go to E

Mountain in the shadow of light, rain in the valley below. Well you can say your Peter, say your Dick. Don't put me up on your bedroom wall. Caaaall meeeeeeee King of the Mountain! What a week so far. Race B has been my poison of choice.

I started off as I do every time Bathurst rolls around, with the HDT Mustang (suffer in ya jocks Ford fans :p). It was a slippery old ride compared to qually. I expected to be starting somewhere in the last few positions, but nope, P6. Welcome to Monday :rolleyes:. Was the highest DR/D, was all DR/B ahead and a DR/A as the top non qualifier. Unfortunately I just couldn't get a handle on the beast... probably due to disgust :crazy:. Finished P9 after screwing up the kink at the end of Conrod going two wide with the car I was next to on the bumper of the car in front of him. I was a bit of a passenger, but somehow managed to get it back on the track and slowed down before the entrance to the chase.. where I was summarily executed and found myself against the wall. I didn't get the number of the truck that hit me, but I assume it was a result of my unceremonious re-entry :scared:. Finished P9. Lost 4 SR and gained 200DR.

Next up with the HDT M4. I managed to improve my qualy time a hair (0.2s), and I found myself starting P3 on a grid of all DR/Ds... finally! I had an even harder time with the beemer compared to qualy. Couldn't get it to turn in as sharply, a lot more understeer :nervous:. Finishing the second lap I went wide at Murray's because I couldn't get it to turn, and P4 slipped past on the inside nice and clean (he'd been patient for the whole of lap 2). Finished P4. SR up to 99 again and DR up 844. Better finish, but I was very uncomfortable the whole race with the usually stable M4 squirming around like it had worms :crazy:.

Tonight hallelujah! Went in in with Godzilla. Yeh, I know it's not an R32, but the commentators described it as "Godzilla has returned to the Mountain!". I took another 1.5s off my qualy time and was shocked to find myself on pole!!!! That's 7/763. I started well, managed to line up Hells for a good clean exit before anyone had a chance to ram me, and lead from start to finish. The guy in P2 was closing in on lap 1, but must have botched Murray's because the gap went up to 2s. After that I kept an eye on the gap every so often and it had stretched to 4s. I went into "ohcrpohcrapohcrap" mode and got conservative, saw the gap shrink to 2s, then back to 4. Missed out on a clean race bonus for tapping the wall on the final lap at Forrest Elbow. That cost me 1.5s, but I kept my cool... sort of, and finished a tad under 4s ahead. It wasn't the casual stroll it seemed, I was freaking out the whole race :scared:! Also got fastest lap :eek:. Sadly, the stars either hadn't appeared or had already disappeared :( :

SR Blue (no one to hit), DR went up 1.1k. Finally a few days above DR1 :D!.

Yeaaaaa boi! Good job! #homeadvantage

I'm hoping I'll get some Mountain time at some point this week. Just a question of what ride. I wanna pop for something different this week. The Evo is getting too familiar/comfortable.

Thanx :O. The GT-R was working for me tonight. Not sure how things are after the changes (and there could be more after tomorrows "update" ), but in the past I've done alright with the rexy at Bathurst. My other win at Bathurst some time ago was with the Veyron of all things. :odd:

Things have gone bad. Just had a torpedo in 2 of the last three races that took out half the field, i somehow took the worst of it both times though. Need a break to try and get different matching i guess. Although now my sr is beaten and bruised pretty badly lol

I had a quick go at the mountain this morning, drove the jaguar because I am very comfortable in it and I can't say the mountain is where I feel safe.
Was a bad ride, am SR A right now and it was a rough crowd. Managed to loose two spots but remaining SR and DR the same.
Then had a quick go in the Sirocco, lowered my Qt by 1.5 sec, but in race it was not as fun.

It depends... At the level I am at it's the car you feels best in that will be best. Every one of them is capable of higher speeds than I am. I rank them the same though.

You could have pitted right at the start, couldn't you?

No, it drives you through if you pit at the start :banghead:

I think I found the worst car for Tokyo this week. Atenza, from doing 2:14 laps in Ford GT, McLaren BMW and Huracan, to 2:19 laps in the Atenza. I double checked if I had the right boots on :lol:. It's very unstable as well.

I got it up to 2:16 with drafting start and end of the lap (2:13 doing that with the Huracan...) so slow. Even hugging the bumper of a McLaren BMW right out of the hairpin and drafting all the way, the McLaren still opens the gap to over a second.

I love the sense of "oh crap I'm in the lead, what the hell do I do now" about your post.

Regarding the Quali grip v Race grip --- and please everyone else remember this is not Custom TT grip v Race, I am specifically comparing Race Quali V Race Actual...my first race B out yesterday in the Megane (sorry) the car felt like it was all over the place and once again was convinced there was a huge difference between qualification and race conditions. Race B this week has a damp surface and I was even thinking that the game physics has it drying out as the race progresses which was me clutching at straws to explain why I was so bad. I had no confidence and even offered up a place to the car behind because I felt like I was only blocking him. 2nd and 3rd races out I got my rhythm, had some very strong battles, attacked and defended well, did a bit of mid race quali (brought my time down to 2.14.174 so really want to get into the 13's by weekend) and by race 4 the idea of any difference in grip was gone. Short version - I don't think there's an actual difference, only perceived.

Got my time down to 1.04.757 had an optimal of .650 at one point, but i have re started a few times...

The corner in the middle of the back half of the track is super crucial to a fast time, and i can't seem to nail it just quite right yet. Turn 1 is also real important to come out of it at the right angle to just power through the following kinks. I just want to beat @Pigems lol

I love baking. But I'm damned if I'm gonna make filo or puff pastry from scratch. Especially when you can buy a ready rolled sheet from the supermarket for next to nothing. Not enough time in life!

I apply the same theory with braking points.

If you have the time/desire to drive around a track vanilla and learn from scratch...then...good...for...you...?

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! (ok, Saturday night, but it doesn't have the same impact ;). )

It will be Sunday for you. ;)

It's amazing that somebody with 5 posts here would choose to make one degrading the skills of a player who regularly posts top 10 times in his region. The egos of some people.

I concur, there was no need of his post. I’d love to know that guys lap time. :)

Edit: On a similar note, does anyone happen to know what the feud between CnF and TTG is all about?

Having been a fan of motor racing all my life and played race games of some form through the ages too, the release of Toca Touring Cars on PS1 in 1997 is a real gaming highlight for me and, because I was playing the game, I also too a keen interest in the BTCC of the period. What I really can't get over is how many of the drivers that seemed to be seasoned (old?) at the time and were on top of their game are still competing to that level; Plato, Tarquini, Reid, Menu and many more are still racing and winning. I'm not sure if it's a bad sign of how few new drivers are coming through or how good this particular generation were.

Hmmm, if this is a recent thing, I will direct you to Erick's most recent stream of FIA races where he basically ruined 3 or maybe 4 people's qualifying in both top split Nations and MFG races. At least one of them was a TTG guy. He later disabled comments on that video due to all the feedback he was getting. If you want to talk about it more, message me. I've got a lot to say about that, lol.

I'd say it could be simple TLA envy. The minute you give folks a title it goes to their head, dress them in blue and they'll hate "the reds". They should all join with 6BK and not give a 🤬

This was fun, racing against 2 people who I know drive clean, it's one of those where you're enjoying it so much that you don't really care who finishes first:

Berz has cleaned his act up then?! Had a couple of run ins with him on my 'old' account where he was anything but clean as well as seen a video which I think eirieisss did where he lost the plot in his 'GT Boca' guise (assuming it was the same guy)

Might accept that friend request when I get back home if he's clean...!
Mister MCA also uses brake indicator. Not the best guy to learn from if I'm being honest.
If you watch his videos he gives a reference point of where to start braking, and it's way later than that brake indicator will come on. He's one of the better guys to learn the tracks from that I've seen.

Either way, maybe you should list your own credentials before slagging off someone who helps out a lot of the GT Sport community?

Thanks, that’s probably it. That definitely sucks, I hope it wasn’t on purpose. I saw it being talked about on the CnF Discord page, I’ll shoot you a message here shortly when I get off of work. :)

Did about 25 minutes of qualifying practice. There's still some time to be gained, but I'm a second off the top 10 and that's enough for me for today. I'll be recording and uploading my daily races later today. :cheers:

*PS: screw the PS4's built in recording tool. Makes 720P look like it's 360P. :banghead:
