I think I am going to set up a test run for myself at St. Croix. I have no idea how to deal with Fuji in Gr. 1. I did ok there when it was Super Formula but not really aiming to go again so I think I'm willing to have a look at B. Anyone got any ideas so far of solid cars there to test?

I also never learn. At the pushing of my son I did a couple of races at the Mountain today. Ugh, night and day. Since my SR was holding onto A by 1 pt I thought I could ride at the back and only pass people when serving penalties. Riiiight. Autodrive glitch to set the start, I'm not affected but go around the blob to be 6th (from 17th) by the time we hit the start line. And then the fun starts. Barged wide at Hell, punted and barged at the next corner, wall slammed twice on the way up to the park. Yay!!! Was still holding on to 9th when I get blasted into the dipper and pick up a colliding with the wall penalty (only 3 sec) while the D driver who did it cruises on past. Get another one for running a car off the road as someone tried to pass me on the outside on that last high speed left before you start down the mountain. Another fun 3 sec. I finish 15th in a field of C and D drivers, and drop 15 SR and about 1200 DR thanks to the savages. Fun to see I was 1 of only 2 people to get red SR ratings in that craphole of a race.

Decide to qualify and see if I can leave those people behind, especially now that I'm going to be in argy bargy lobbies. Do a decidedly average lap that gets me 6th starting spot. Clean start, 2 guys immediately behind bin it on the start so no pressure from behind. A couple of guys up front get track limit penalties but a pretty clean race otherwise. No wall taps, no wiggles, finish 5th, CRB and I get a whopping 100 DR and 5 SR. Need to figure out what I'm going to do and see if I worry about being serious more or just realize I'm going to yo-yo around the SR a bit for now and deal with it.

Also noticed my GTS companion app doesn't update my history anymore. Happen to anyone else? All other stuff is current.

The companion app does the same for me. I think there might have been a tweak to the game that made it harder to get and maintain SR points too.

I have found in my quest to cause pain that being in B SR means I don't lose so many SR when I get punted into the wall. I still get a penalty as obviously only a moron would brake for a hairpin turn, but hey they didn't get a penalty so it is all good.

Edit: and the racing doesn't get any better, but somehow my SR does? Savage lunges into turn 1, hairpin and death chicane, punts into the wall. I get penalties for getting punted into the turns, get rubbed off on the wall and bashed in the hairpin, and my SR goes up? Seriously? I want it to go up but this is making no sense at all. At S SR a tap makes me go down, no matter what, at B it seems to pay attention to who is at fault, although I still get a time penalty. Bastard when I go from fighting for second on lap 2 to trying to get a top 5 after 4th just plows me on the exit of the hairpin and I reset to before it. But maybe back to A SR tonight. PLEASE????

I think just about everybody can relate to this. You're on pace to set your personal best lap time, and then on the last possible turn.......



It wasn't gonna be a great time, in terms of the rankings, but whether you're fast or slow, it will happen to you too (some of us more than others).

That section of kerb/grass about 80m back from the entry to Murray's seems to be a magnet for my right rear wheel too.

Can anyone explain this weird engine behavior? My car just stalled at the hairpin. Throttle input 10%, engine starts revving full, but no power on the wheels. TCS bug? I've never had this before.

In your video it looks like a single drive wheel spin, as if the limited slip diff is not loaded enough to drive both wheels. The behaviour I saw is exactly how my first car drove on wet roads... (see my avatar pic). Supported by some comments from others referring to driving on the white line but not supported by other comments. Perhaps is a mix of that and some sort of clutch modelling linked to manifold vacuum, rpm or throttle setting to allow us to drive without clutch controls, that would explain all the behviours people have mentioned.

Also noticed my GTS companion app doesn't update my history anymore. Happen to anyone else? All other stuff is current.

I don't give the game developers enough credit to be that detailed in their simulation .

Had a little time before dinner for Bathurst last night in the GTR .Found myself surrounded by Migraines ,12 out of 16 cars were the little 🤬 .

I think this is because it's only 3 laps. There is simply not time to correct a mistake or come back from someone else's mistake/dirty trick.
So much more important to run the most competitive car.
I have no doubt that a lot of the other cars could do well if there where just more laps.

Race C is fun until you end up in the middle/back of the pack (be it your fault or not). No opportunities to pass in the middle 1/3 of the track without getting a penalty.

I am seriously considering creating a daily race account. If you are at around DR 70000, you will most likely only win 100-200 DR for winning the race because few top drivers turn up. And if it goes pear-shaped you can lose up to several thousand DR points per race - not worth it if you race in FIA races.

Nice relaxed Saturday morning, driving a different car every race on Tokyo. @Rangeraus You can pas on any part of the track without penalties, but it takes a lot of experience to know who you can pass where without getting screwed. So far only one self inflicted wall penalty in the Ferrari, slippery as usual. I squeezed out a victory in the NSX, always from the back.

My DR is up to 41K right now, yet indeed gaining DR with the poor matchmaking is pretty hard. If a gap opens up in the middle of the pack before I can get out of the backfield, I'm pretty much driving in no man's land. Very few cars have the speed on the straight to have hopes of closing the gap to the front runners. With 70K, there's hardly anything to gain from pole. Last room had 2 A+ drivers, but that's a rarity in the morning. Next one, one A+, couple A, mostly B and a few D. Win, gain very little, crash or get disconnect, lose a ton.

Have to give kudos to @Sven Jurgens this week for running Daily C in every car. I've only managed a handful of races and best result has been a 2nd from the back row.

The maximum used to be 1,200, with an additional chunk if you dropped a DR rating category.

But, yes, if you've got a DR S account and you're racing the FIA stuff with any degree of seriousness then a Daily C could be terminal.

The Lamborghini doesn't have the speed to win in a straight fight down the Tokyo straight, if you play some games it can get the job done though (watch the throttle), once you have a bit of a gap going into the twisties you're relatively safe, 8-9 tenths at the hairpin is enough to get you to the finish line in the lead:

Fist to fist. Eye to eye. The mountain you tumbled from. In the land of race and octane we prey... The Mountain was not so kind to me this eve. After trying a few cars, the only one that seemed stable was the tank. No pole this time.. they threw me in with DR/As and a B in front of me, so P5/16 for me.

Race starts with me pointed strait when autodrive cuts out, so that was good. Unfortunately the handling of many of the cars has changed, so the tank handled like a barge. I had to wait a long time while the prow ponderously swung round before I could give it a bootfull . I didn't expect to hang on to P5. I did hang in there for a lap and even gained a place. Sadly the next lap I had to lumber round Griffins and maintain a tight arc around the inside. the car I had passed for P4 went round the outside and up to the cutting rapidly. I was hanging on pretty close, squeezed through the Dipper, but had to go painfully slowly round Forest. The guy in P6 was catching up and on the final lap he out braked me entering the chase to slip cleanly through. I was tight on him, got a better exit out of Murray's and had managed some overlap, but it wasn't enough . P6.

Finished with a blue SR and DR up 600+. So far a better week than the last few . Another day above DR 1.

Great racing with you today. That one race where we were battling for 8 laps was incredible. I checked out your 15 sec penalty you got later on. I think what happened is, first you slammed the wall (5 sec) then you were scraping along it with your nose for over a second at least (wall riding 5 sec) then your car swept around and hit the other wall (5 sec). Impressive!

Yeah, it was great. 👍 Until about the 5th race when the beer started to kick in and my reaction times turned from milliseconds to months. Plus the wall penalties really started to annoy me. 15 seconds worth of penalties in about 50 meters. That's my personal record. I thought that you only get a penalty in the corners. You know, to prevent wall riding. But you can get it anywhere. Even on the straight (I tried it). I just don't understand the logic behind that. How do you benefit from hitting the wall on the straight? You lose time! That's gotta be a japanese thing. I don't use TCS and it's sooo easy to spin out when you're drunk. Who would've thought, right? I might do a couple of races again today, don't know yet. So maybe I'll see you there.

Not to defend the penalty system in any way, shape, or form, but I think your 1s penalty there was for track limits because of your entry into the esses. The pass itself that you made was very clean.

Maybe that’s what you meant by Step 5 though. It definitely looked like a preemptive defensive maneuver versus a deliberate cut.

Same. I reached out to the dev who made it (@fideles1986) to offer some help in maintaining it but have gotten no response

Turn 1 and the penalty zone for me. The blocking by people who have 10 second penalties to serve grips my ****. It's very difficult not to get sucked in to following people and allowing your pace of 2:13-14 being nerfed to 2:16s. Until I'm through to the top 6 or 7, I deliberately drop off people from T2 to the penalty zone, just to give myself room to deal with the inevitable issues which are going to unfold infront. Within a second at the hairpin is close enough for the T1 overtake as long as the car infront doesn't have a tow, too.

To be fair my DR is a lot lower than yours and I already do this. I only use my main/FIA account in daily races where I have some degree of certainty that I'll do okay. This weeks race C SR lottery isn't worth the risk on my main account. I've had a lot of fun with it on my second account though

Not sure which car is the best for that race. I've tried about 6 or 7 of them, so far. The Mustang is really fun and fast. 👍

St. Croix C is the only one ever featured in a daily race, the first week they moved to weekly. The Ford GT was the best car. I'd guess it's going to be a toss-up between that, the GT-R, the Huracan and the F1.

The trick is to compromise the other car's line while driving a car with superior turning abilities. The final hairpin is actually the most dangerous and pointless place to pass. You're just giving the car you passed an opportunity to draft you. Of course on the final lap it's good to pass there.

I've had clean passes everywhere on the track. The car in front doesn't have to hit the wall, when they have to make a slight adjustment to avoid the wall or slow down a bit because the rear gets lose, squeeze on the inside or outside and especially when they're driving a ford or mclaren, they have to back out. Also on the way to the bridge, get in on the right hand so you have the racing line to the bridge, they either back out or crash under the bridge. Brake a little early to avoid their crash. The bridge in lap 1, I usually take slow, stick to the middle lane and pass a couple cars messing up.

The right and left hander before the hairpin are the hardest place to pass. You either get bumped or slammed into the wall, turned in on and get a penalty or make it to the first part only to have to concede for the second part. Besides that, it's also not a very effective place to pass there unless you have a penalty and want to be able to regain the draft after the hairpin.

Penalties are so awful on that track though. I don't get it at all. A MacLaren struggles through the 2 corners before the hairpin, I sit patiently behind. He over brakes a bit, tiny tap from me, he slightly touches the wall at corner exit, nobody lost any time, 5 sec penalty for me. Later I get punted at T1 by the car behind me not braking in time or getting out of my slipstream, I get SR Down and 5 sec wall penalty. (He felt bad about it and waited for me at the penalty zone, then we had an awesome race to the finish for 5 laps) And even if it works there, the aggressor only gets 2 sec??? The worse the offense the lower the penalty seems to be how it works.

I tried driving in the rain for the first time in GT Sport on Daily Race C, and it was interesting to say the least. To give some context, the only rain experience I have is from the F1 games and the rain driving physics felt a lot different on the Codemasters F1 games compared to GT Sport. I felt like I was getting the grip of rain until I remembered that I was 10 seconds slower than @Deafsun time. I watched a lot of replays and slowly got my times lower as I got more comfortable with driving in the rain but I'm still down by like 4 seconds.

Also, I'm probably in a small group of drivers that hates driving on Mount Panorama. I have never been good at the track and I'm honestly lost on it. Turn 1, Griffin's Bend, and The Chase are the only portions of the track that I'm decent at. Everywhere else is a massive problem for me. I have no idea how to attack any other part of the track, especially if I switch drive different cars on it. Then I always feel like I'm fighting the car from spinning out during the Skyline, esses, and Dipper section because if I go slow I lose time, but if I push hard, I have a hard time keeping the car under control. This issue isn't exclusive to GT Sport, I have this issue on any other sim with Bathurst in the game.

As frustrated as I may seem, simracing makes me happy and keeps my mind in peace. I love driving and competing and this combination of both is amazing.

I felt the same way about the mountain. No matter how many times I drove I was either too slow for my class or unstable.
Then I watched @Mistah_MCA s track guide and now I enjoy it. I still have to get everything right or everything goes wrong. But now I know what I did wrong....

Just now in race C, Tokyo... When the cars started auto drive they all went forward a few feet then cars 8-14 stopped. Cars 1-7 continued as the timer counted down to the start. Cars 1-7 got a head start. Glitch or feature?

Glitch caused by the first of those stopping cars lagging. My condolences if you got stuck behind them.

Don't know if this will help anyone, defo won't help fast guys, but if you're around the 2:16 lap time and / or struggling with chase cam, it might...

Tried a few more cars, mostly FR, as the meta cars all seem to be MR / RR, in the end decided if you can't beat them, join them, so tried the NSX.

It was pretty epic, but then tried IM on the front and HW on the rear. Laptimes weren't much faster but the car was alot more stable, far less lateral wobbliness coming through the wheel.

Still need to be careful on the brakes going in, but the fast corners through the middle section you can really play and push with the throttle, alot more than HW tyres all round....felt pretty epic tbh..

Probably only help those with chasecam who are stuggling with the sideways movement..

It's a feature. If you keep GTS in the background during the time the pre-race countdown ends and the cars are put on track, your car will not move in auto-drive and cause a standing start from your position onwards
