Wow, just jumped back onto N24 and it turned into a battlezone. Mostly due to extreme lag conditions. A one bar connection was doing similar stuff as what I showed earlier at Interlagos. He took me out at the entrance to the Nord in lap one and dropped me to last. I had the unfortunate pleasure of starting 13th, the death zone... Most of the cars had yellow connections and were constantly shifting around, stalling, warping, ugh. Second lap I got punted, that one didn't look like lag... He got a penalty, crashed later and left with a red A. Justice served, I didn't have to help it. Finished 7th in the end, no good lap data. 6:44.549, but I did get the fastest lap lol. Lot of pit stops. Genesis hardly needs any fuel saving, no point pitting.

This is going to get interesting, N24, Monday, dirty hour coming up :nervous:

Starting 14th next ugh, too much DR. And yup, nicked by a dive bomber, 4 sec penalty for me and directed to last :banghead: Still finished 3rd with fastest lap, what a joke!

Starting 10th next sigh

Stupid GT86, it’s got some nerve being better than my TT on this track.

Thanks for the lend of your Ghost @MattJones_e36 , Stellar lap man! Next time could you ask him to slow down and wait for me though? :D

You're welcome, mate  despite running the Toyota, i think the Megane Trophy might be more suitable for actual racing, the thing just stays glued to the ground, it's easier to be consistent with it.

Sweet, Thanks very much for the tip!

Edit: Took a break from Big Willow to run the S800 for a bit, off to a good start so far. Most excellent lap Mr @sturk0167 , Well done man!!

Starting 10th wasn't so bad
7hoUzAN.jpg

It could have gone very differently though. The T1 dive bomb missed me by less than an inch. That arrow came flying by so fast on the radar I never saw him in my rear view mirror.

Lap 2 I was chasing first, a one bar Argentinian. He went wide in the middle section, I slowed to avoid safely watching out for any wall bounces, them figured cool I'm in first. Somewhere beyond the karoussel his car suddenly re-appeared ahead of me with lots of sparks flying. Good magic track. Then he was all jumpy. On the straight he slowed again, not sure if it was his lag or fuel I cautiously went ahead. Crossed the line first, stayed first. Guess he ran out of fuel as much as internet.

Next car, F-Type. Genesis is 4 sec slower than last time, although I did slow a bit in the middle to avoid the stalled car.

Starting 16th, bit better, still not safe. And yup, to last before the start line even, car ahead couldn't make it onto the straight, rammed me into the wall. Couldn't avoid with the cars behind me :/ Second place finish anyway :)

Nice going. That's an awesome lap, sir. 👍

Turns 1 & 5, I can't figure which gear is best.
Sometimes at turn 1, if I just go down to 5th it works well, and sometimes going to 4th seems good too.
Same thing with 3rd & 4th gears at the off-camber left hander at the bottom of the hill (I think it's 5).
Usually I just make a quick decision, based on my entry.

Saw a thread a while back on keyboard shortcuts. Some cool stuff - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/hidden-secret-controls-while-spectating.373524/

G: Is Variable Camera type.
H: Is Standard Camera type.
J: Is Bumper view.
K: Is Hood/roof view.
L: Is Chase camera view.

What does variable camera do by the way? Tried it, saw no difference.

I had some great clean racing on Interlagos in the late afternoon. My DR is back up to 17.3K from a low point of 8.0K on Thursday. No more driving FF cars! I've been sticking to the 4C this afternoon which is a great car for overtaking in the middle section, then defend on the straights by keeping inside and use those awesome brakes. I put a few clips together of my last 3 races. Contact free racing on Interlagos (forgiving the odd lag wobble)

Thanks to the almost irrelevant tire wear of the 4C compared to other cars, it gets easier and easier to overtake later in the race. Perfect for starting from last. 15 positions up in that last race to 2nd :)

Wow! That's some good stuff. Really liked the overtake at 2:12 on the outside of the purple Jag and the next one on the red Lambo.

Thanks, same to you man! I honestly don’t have a clue In this car, I just tried to copy everything @MattJones_e36 did. He kept running away from me exiting the right section onto the back straight until I caught a lucky lap lol.

I'm with you on that. Managed this in the 4C. Gutted I didn't get the optimal but managed to balls up the last corner, cracking under the pressure of the lap delta looking so good.

Still refuse to race in anything other than the TT though 👍

Great lap man!! I’ll probably race the TT as well, but I will try the Megane and 86 in race, just to slyest them . :)

I stare at the delta way to much myself, I’ve ruined so many good laps by noticing that I was on a good lap, and then effin something up. I should just put tape over that part of the screen like another fella on this site did and solve the issue once and for all.

Can you guys stop making me feel slow while i am at work. Just standing here drinkin my free after work beverage ;) reading how everyone is getting sub 17's at willow. Not sure if I'll go back to the honda tbh i was getting really frustrated by the back end sliding out t1

224 ms ping, 315 ms ping, when does the server say enough is enough? I just got spun by one laggy car, then couldn't avoid another after distracting me with his wheelies, 3 sec penalty. How can lag even cause a wheelie? What kind of weird physics are behind the net code!

Come on, it's almost 2020, we've had internet since the late 90's. Jeez! (ok still can't understand half the people on the phone either and that's a little older still)

I know what you mean. Watch what I did in the replay if you want to.
Don't use 3rd gear to slow the car down. The car hates that. I don't believe I went to third until I had finished my braking. To keep that back end in check, I also used BB -2.
You'll probably be past me when I wake up tomorrow. 👍

AAAAHHHHHH! Some people just cant handle the idea of racing anyone else. Tried Race C after my lunch. Starting 5th with no lap time. Going into turn 1 we are all clean, I am inside another car but getting set to be on the outs next turn as we head left, I go slow to back out, they turn into me anyway. I keep backing out to let them have the spot, nope, not good enough. Push me wide with a couple of hits and then for good measure brake check a Ford GT who was involved with nothing. Those 2 then beat the hell out of each other as we get to the first left and right heading to the hairpin and decide to brake check me. Which ends in a punt as I am braking early to give them room so really not expecting it. The GT rage quits, I get 3 seconds and the other person proceeds to hit me several times while slowing down to ensure I know they are angry. I get angry and get all 4 wheels wide when he does it next, but no penalty for them. That was all while trying to get off the GP circuit lap 1. It was so bad that I didn't crash, touch a wall and only tapped another car once as they unghosted beside me while getting back to speed. End result of the race including a lap 2 with no other car in sight? SR down 8.

Some people refuse to believe it can be a racing incident and that if I am backing off to let them go it is because I am decent. Nope, all who race must be destroyed!!!!

It was a shame as the race before that went well and another car and I had a great close battle. I actually slid over a curb losing control and they tapped me right in the middle of it. Neither crashed or got penalties but we had a comedic slowing down as he wanted to let me go thinking he had crashed me, while I am trying to let him go as I know he didn't. A car ended up passing us both at that point ant we went on. Cleared it up in the post race chat. Why can't there be more like that?

Edit: while in the ugly race I did manage to finally cross the finish line my tormentor had no penalties and of course a blue S while I had my push to improve my SR set back to a red A

I need to see videos for that kind of stuff.

Another very likely victory ruined by lag, I guess I need a break. Unplayable when cars keep jumping backwards and forwards. 3 sec penalty, car jumped back, GT-R...

And disconnected at the start of the next race, break it is. My ping according to gts to its server is 59ms, all green. Broad band test, 11ms ping to Toronto, 89 down, 15 up. It's not me :/

I am back, new controller helped! (And not driving on Suzuka helps too).
First drove the Mustang, then where faster in the Mégane so ran one race in that. Was an ok race, gained 5 spots, but opted for the Mustang again
Next race. New personal best Qt on WS, 1:20.067
Slow among you guys, but enough to advance the field. Drove from p12 to p5, then in the sharp right over the hill a British gentleman stuck his nose up on the outside. I was already in a slide so off he went and I got 3 second penalty. This was last lap so serving after last turn. Came in p7 because the British gentleman slowed down behind me.
Lots of good talk in chat after.
Last race, started p9, drove to p6 in lap1 then stuck my left wheel out in last turn and spun out. P14, dead last by 6 seconds. Back in the saddle, finished p5.

So, following-up to my question on drivetrains, would you also say that courses with more slow corners are best taken with a brake bias further to the front? Would Catalunya also be an example of a course with more slow corners than fast ones, and thus better to be taken with FF cars? Why is Interlagos seemingly not considered a course with slow corners, despite the various tight turns towards the middle of the course? And where do MR and/or 4WD cars become more beneficial?

Also, when you brake, you’re typically not putting force on the throttle at the same time, so why is it still better to use a rear brake bias? Is it because the front wheels are also typically the steering wheels, regardless of the drivetrain? And why is using a BB of -5 still good on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS? I know that since the engine sits in the back, the weight shifts forward under braking, but couldn’t you say something similar regarding FR cars, which already have their weight in the front? Also, wouldn’t the additional weight in the front from weight transfer offer more traction on the front wheels?

And for the drivetrains, if I arranged the drivetrains by the ideal amount of BB, from rearwards to forwards, would it go FF, 4WD, MR, FR, then RR? And how come I’ve never really seen a FR car understeer? Wouldn’t the weight transfer still make it a risk? Why is it that FF cars are so much more prone to understeer while FR cars are more prone to oversteer? Shouldn’t the weight transfer in RWD cars under acceleration give the rear wheels more traction, thus avoiding oversteer?

It's amazing the difference between the system used for daily races vs lobbies. In @Pigems lobby we had people from all over the globe together. A full 16 car grids, and I don't recall anyone having lag issues .

That jumping around crap is the worst. It's like playing Russian Roulette trying to get away from those cars.
