Did Race C and after a slightly apprehensive first attempt followed by a second where I threw a good finish away with a stupid mistake, finally came away on the third try with a good result:



The old strat still works, just seems like you have to work extra hard now that the tire seems abit more harsh then I last remember (Leading to much more understeer). Feels like the difference between the tires is even more pronounced then before.

Fear not, I have a cunning plan! When he goes to lap me I'll use my Imagine Breaker to disassemble his car. He'll be left sliding down the road in a shower of sparks still in his seat, in nothing but his underwear 👍.

I had fun on Autopolis last time gr2. For some reason just can’t get motivated after last week. Burnt out. I think I did ten or eleven races. Anything after last weeks epic Spa racing is a complete letdown.
Maybe would have been a good week to try karts on horse thief or something different like gr b streets of Willow.

If you are one of those people who say "if you turn of asm and tcs you'll be faster"... save it, I don't wanna hear it.

This is a warning to those of us where not using driver aids makes us a danger to ourselves and others... Race B and possibly Race C has both ASM and TCS turned *off*. Last time I was actively aware of this was a Gr4 at Autopolis, but they had made some changes so that countersteer was manageable. It feels like those changes have been scrapped somewhere along the way.

This has been a Public Service announcement.

RBR didn't do me any favors last week. So.....

Day 2 on the wheel. Not sure of what I was going to encounter, I jumped on the alt account, hopped into the R8, & set to qualifying. Ended up with a 2:00.600. Not bad, & I jump into race B. Starting 3rd....in a car with less than 50 miles of experience...& me without TCS. First race, spin, spin, spin. Enough people bailed out that I finished 10th....out of 10. Next race, started 3rd again, made a couple of minor mistakes, only gave up 1 spot. I decided to switch to the main account, since I wanted to get a car on the prize wheel (Fiat 500 Abarth, if you're keeping score). Qualified on the main account & got a 2:00.5xx after this race.

It might help traction out of the slow corners if you shift down one gear less so the throttle is less responsive on the exits, in theory it should help the car be more stable under acceleration and save some more tyre life for later. As for mid-corner sliding I've only been pushing the analogue stick half way in the long corners to save tyres but because you're putting less energy into them it makes the car less edgy too. It's a really weird way you have to drive though and feels wrong and unnatural and needs a bit of practice.
 
Yesterday I did my best at Race B. Maybe it is an unpopular opinion, but Laggo Maggiore is great fun for me.

I am not a fan of these original GT Tracks, but you have to give tip to PD for making good fictional circuits. Many possibilities for an overtake, room for small mistakes, easy to learn and hard to master.

Improved my time to a 2.00 so I am between 2th and 10th in the grid. (B / B Lobby).

Did some test with different cars, each is within 0.5 sec in the qualifying.

- Mustang GT3: Very stable, easy to drive, enough traction and power to move out of its way. Like it
- BMW M6 GT3: Stable at higher speeds, but tail happy on the exit. Good power. Like it.
- Lexus RCF GT3 Prototype: Stable at higher speeds, a bit less tail happy than the BMW. Liked it at tiny bit less than the BMW.
- Audi R8 GT3: Very stable and much traction, but I was not able to handle the heavy backend on the brakes. Don´t like
- McLaren GT3: Very stable, much traction, medium power. Like it.

The second race was highly successfull. Started at P2 and chased with my M6 a 911 - in the 2nd lap it was my time to take the lead and I could finally achieve my first win since weeks.

The others were quite good, too. Always achieved better race results than in the qualifying. Except for one race, where I made a mistake in the fast downhill section. Got some brown under the tires and have come to a immediately stop in the wall after I was not able to catch the flying Mac. So I lost P4 down to P10, crawled back to 6 till the end of the race and then become victim at the 2nd last corner, ending 8th. But hey, that´s racing.

What I've been doing is backing off on the throttle and not exactly coasting, but just enough to keep downforce. If I let off completely you just slide off :lol:. If I plant it and the car starts to get sideways, since I tend to over correct I found my best bet to catch it is to change up a gear.

I did the same as you last night - switched cars between race c’s and forgot to change the tyres to RM!
I bought the GTR’16 between races and jumped straight in with it and i was racing thinking hmmm the tyres are lasting way longer on this car than the Lexus. :dunce:

Then you mentioned it at the end, you’d forgot to check your tyres and it dawned on me that I’d done the same. I think that’s what I’m gonna do for the rest of the week now, the RH didn’t lose much time but it’s faster and much easier to handle in the last lap or so of each stint. I clocked a low 1:39 in race with the hards which surprised me.
Just need to stop binning it... 3 times in one race is no use to anyone, but there were some lunatics out there to provide the entertainment :dopey:

I'm having trouble feeling any of this week's tracks. I'm not happy with qualifying and seem only to be getting worse. Stuff happening in RL, maybe I'm more distracted by that than I thought.

I'm not exactly a fast driver, only scraping into B, but I've always driven without ASM or CSA. How often are they turned off for the dailies? Might explain why I have some weeks that go much better than others.

Would highly recommend the motion controls for anyone using a DS4, found that helped with counter-steering especially.

Tskuba and Nordsleife is where I go to farm SR. Tskuba with the Miata as Race C last time was a great builder of SR for me.
I can't pinpoint a single track as a killer of SR. But RBR last week and even Spa took it's toll. Maybe it's tracks where the race is mostly run in a close pack..

I forgot to mention that it doesn't stop me from racing and enjoying those tracks, I just have to accept there's a price for it :D
 
A guy tried to go around the outside at the fast esses in race C and has the Gaul to call me a "dirty player" and "noob" after the race, moron. The guy clearly had no spacial awareness at all aswell otherwise he wouldn't have even tried that moronic move.

In general, slower cars invite more bumping.
Race A and B have less SR to begin with thus easier to lose.
Driving mid pack has more chance at contact.
Tracks with walls are more dangerous since cars that bounce off are hard to avoid.
Wider tracks invite more dive bombs.
Time of day has a big impact, mornings are far cleaner than evenings.
Monday and Saturday are generally the worst for SR.

CSA and ASM assists have been disabled since May and never re-enabled. It's unlikely PD will enable them again since nobody has complained except for @Invisigoth.
