Funny it happens just before the long straights, so you lose out a lot of speed and places. Certainly in lap 1.

Yeah, actually I still find it funny. Can't get annoyed as it is really one of the more fun goofy moments you can get where no one really screws you over other than luck. Can't get video up until tonight, my afternoon break is taking a pack of kids to Frozen 2! :D
 
I can't get out of SR.B (well I can to SR.C or SR.D :lol:) from the back on Sarthe. Saturday, bump day. Several blue SR races, sometimes CRB, then one BS penalty and back down again. Business as usual for a Saturday with this penalty system. The races aren't much worse in SR.B compared to SR.S anyway, it was actually worse in SR.S which is how I got down to SR.B.

I did get a victory from the back in SR.D and could have had a couple more yet those lap 1 punts put my first lap time to 4 minutes lol. Then finish 2nd, 5 sec behind first while a normal first lap from the back shouldn't take longer than 3:45.

Racing on Saturday is a good way to lose DR for the upcoming Nordschleife grid start on Monday :lol:
 
Not much time the last few days. Next weeks races look poo, depending on the car at the ring. I did manage to put down a q lap of 3.24.122 in the 962 just now. Feel pretty good about that, especially as my last section was a bit sloppy so i think i can get a 23 if i have some more time do do laps...
 
i am kicking lewis's ass in the first half of monza but i am trash at ascari lol. i need dat diamond. i wasnt sure if i would be able to diamond any of them but i definitely can at monza. its teaching me how not to be slow.

Had a fun moment with the same group of people on Race A yesterday morning. One of the guys always went for the outside line in Turn 1 so I switch place with him for inside line. But this time he was a bit conservative and I took the inside spot with a perfect late braking.

After the race he tells me to relax it's only the first corner. In my mind everthing was ok, didn't touch anyone. I look at the replay today and I do look like a madman from his point of view. Take a look!

So, in order to make Polyphonic choose another car I made a livery for the GT limited. That way I know it will be another car.....

Podiumed my last two races at Le Mans. 3rd and then 2nd. I was in the lead and the guy punted me through the last chicane. I got a 5 second penalty, he got a 3 second penalty, and he took the win. This system is pretty crappy, eh?

He pitted with me about 5 seconds behind at the end of lap 3, and I didn’t need to pit in the hybrid. He finally caught up at the tail end. Idk, maybe he felt like he earned it, but it sucks.

Lol :) I am not sure what that means but I have put in plenty of hours practicing tight line entry there at Tsukuba. In any race, turn 1 is turn 1.
One race I can’t forget was when we had the FABULOUS combo of the Porsche speedster at Brands Indy. I was all week going for top ten, and raced on Sunday.
There’s multiple ways to take the hairpin lap 1, and also the odd left hander that comes after.
I raced against the best on that one maybe ten in a row. One race I saw another of the top time guys on Sunday starting behind me.
He tried to round the outside of the hairpin. He had no track position, however he was on my bumper exiting, so I chose the tighter line on the left, compromising my line compared to the ULTIMATE QUAL LAP line, but plenty fast enough to maintain track position, he got eaten up by the pack that race, and as anyone who raced that knows most were trying to drift that car which doesn’t get the power down and is not the fastest way..
Post race he HAMMERS me with what the expletive you doing?
This is after he made a stupid move trying to go round assuming I was incompetent, well guess what what I did was race my race pal.
I can’t help it if You couldn’t pass. What do you want me to do pull over for you since your name is up on the leaderboard that week?
Racing is not qual. He felt since I wasn’t running the super fast but almost unreaptable Uber fast qual line that I was in the wrong which is garbage. He insulted me by his choice of line by assuming I would be a pylon. Too bad for you and sorry for your precious Dr. Track position is everything.
To paraphrase Senna, any racer that would not take what @Mc_Yavel was given is not a racer.
Plus have you ever raced n100 Tsukuba, or karts? Better know how to take a tight turn 1 with enough exit speed to not get overtaken.
My thing is often itso better to drive towards the apex tight and get out of there than take a barely faster LINE and leave a door open.
@BenRod, I know you are awesome and clean from friends, no idea why this all occurred to me at this moment, I just enjoy writing.
Maybe sometime I will get another good enough time to share the track with you but I am not holding my breath right now :)

I was actually happy to be away today after reading the post from Sven.

Also when I got verbally assaulted for beating a ‘whateverbignamegamerongtsport’ post race and asked what the expletive.
My response?
Beating you at this race was pretty golden.
One of my better moments
He immediately exited lobby!

It's not so dirty in Asia as in the Americas (I have a US alt, I've seen it), but I've just got back into DR A/B races after a month or more in C and they're quite a bit more ..... motivated.

It's basically like it's Monday again, except half the people are tuned in to the track/car and expect the other half to be as well. Suddenly you have the clash again between people not exactly knowing the lines and brake points while the other half races like they should know, not leaving any margin for error.

Of course the lovely penalty system always acts in favor of those not knowing the track that well, or rather in favor of those that crash / go off road after contact which makes it dangerous for SR to race on Saturday. There is some malicious intent as well yet that's far in the minority. Most of it is simply not knowing or caring about blocking and bumping. The only reason for getting stuck in SR.B is the SR Down for a bump from behind. 3 of those in the first lap is enough to get neutral SR for the race.

Lag also seems worse on Saturday. No clue why, internet congestion maybe. There were a lot more yellow and red connections today compared to earlier in the week. The record today was a red connection with 1551 ms ping. He won the race, nobody could get near lol.

The price to race in the weekend:
Day 715 DR 33528 A 99 S
Day 716 DR 21540 B 54 B
Minor reset to 15K after briefly dropping to SR.D

However the reward has been more varied races and better opportunities to do well instead of gaining just a few places in a field full of TS050s. I have had great battles with other GR.C cars today, racing the Jaguar, Sauber Mercedes, Mazda, R92CP and other 962s has been great fun. Drafting those can get you up to some real speeds. Best one was reeling in and draft passing two GR.C cars drafting each other right before Mulsanne, get on the inside, nail the braking point and shoot off hanging onto a TS050s draft. That's what I call a flying lap :cheers:
 
@Sikumatchbox it is time for my weekly serving of crow. I went back and watched through the video capture of my jump. Cone was there. Laying down, for some reason blind to it last night, and off to the side of where most wouldnt't hit it. Knew I had screwed up the corner but definitely hit a cone that was there. Oh well, only lament is it wasn't a full 99 CLK style launch.

As an edit anyone got anything to help my 🤬 memory? My eyes have been 🤬 for years.

Heh... wasn't diggin' on you so much as the fella in the gray car with the advice to "Relax" who casually moves left.
That is exactly what you do NOT do into the first turn at Tsukuba - move to the outside and relax.
And also the fact that I haven't heard you talk at all about this week's Daily A. ;)

If I start on Pole or any position on the left side other than 3rd, I am moving right to take that inside, same as I do at Fuji.
If starting 3rd, I stay left, brake late to stay on the leaders butt, crowd 2nd and 4th into staying to the right, hope everybody gets sorted out before the left hairpin, stay to the left, brake hard and deep, and put it on the green stuff inside. It's the best defense against getting bombed. Indeed as you mentioned, people complain sometimes, "You cut me off!" Yes, yes I did. I have position and I will do what is needed to maintain that position. The downside is that now I have a frustrated driver behind me who is going to bump, thus gifting me the beloved Orange Icon of Punishment.

And speaking of Orange, my SR is a yo-yo this week in Daily A, but the string seems to be getting longer. Oh well... I'm still gonna race it. Fantastic battles to be had almost every race means FUN to me. Unfortunately, the petty SR downs and oft ridiculous penalties suck some of the satisfaction out of it.

There are 2 reasons the cone wasn't visible in the saved replay :
- You didn't put it there.
- Moveable objects ( cones, pylons, tires, etc. ) that get moved are calculated in real time during the replay.

It's always been this way. I tested this with a friend in GT5 and also GT6. We set up a "soccer match" at Tokyo R246 between Turn 1 and Turn 2 using the tires against the Turn 1 wall. We kicked the tires up and down the track for a few minutes and then saved the replay. When watching the replay multiple times, the tires were never in the same place twice. This made it look like we were bouncing of tires that weren't there and blasting through visible tires without losing speed.

I do think PD tightened this up a bit for Sport. If I hit a cone and it stays undisturbed where it landed, and I come around and hit it again, it usually seems to be represented closely in the replay to how it actually happened. However, if you watch other cars in the replay hitting cones, regardless of how the cone is hit, it is different every time. Also, if you rewind using the back 10 seconds function, the cone will stay where it ended up the first time the hit was played and won't even be there. Weird.
