Of course when you wait to safely rejoin the track the game thinks you are wall riding and you get a 5 sec wall penalty :banghead:

Last race my tires got dirty from the car ahead going wide, bouncing off the wall and almost taking me out. I was on the grass to avoid (might have tapped me, can't tell) thus the next corner I went wide without grip (He was right behind me, didn't dare to brake too much, but obviously didn't brake enough) I stayed out of his way to safely go back on the track after he passed and get 5 sec penalty for my efforts. He got nothing of course for his wall bounce almost taking me out. Driving dangerously is what PD wants us to do!

I caught up before the straight only to get tapped wide again by another car losing control lol. Next race!

I actually had almost the opposite thing happen at mt. Panarama. I was right on someones ass and he lost it in the cutting, going 90° right in front of me. I hit the brakes hard to try and not plow into him and maybe sqeeze by. He actually ghosted imidiatly, i couldn't believe it.... i know your not supposed to lift, he should be gone by the time you get there. But PD has trained me otherwise... lol

So you're telling me that the Viper Danger Noodle has a chance here? :dopey:
God I hope so. Any day I can pull my danger noodle out of the garage is a good day.

It’s a pretty close race around Spa in Gr4 cars, the GTR is probably the easiest to go fast in, I like the Jag best to drive though. :)

Just don’t use the Hurrican, it’s terrible.
SUCK IT MEGANE

Up 40 something SR from my lowest this morning. Being a little quicker helps, and I got a couple of good races without much bumping and no penalties.

I also finished in the top 5 for all three races. I might switch over to Race A where I’m much slower and I make sure I don’t get to DR B before I’m at SR A or S.

Tuesday is far less carnage... Monday must be particularly bad. Also defending from dive bombs that turn out to be just fresh air most of the time is apparently the order of the day.

Recovered 10k DR since yesterday... Only 7k more to go... SR very slowly recovering!

Bring on next week's races

European region Daily Race B Lobby D C is full of complete clowns. Grow up and lets have some proper racing instead of punting at every opportunity. As a beginner who has put in a lot of work to improve my racecraft I am not impressed at the welcome!

Tokyo drift!

Got my head down and improved my qually time from 8:42 to 8:31, but that started me 3 times right behind someone with a terrible connection, so frustrating!

So another qually lap and down to 8:28, happy with that from where i started at.

Struggling to get through any race unscathed tho today, but am at least up another 1500 DR and the laps are long enough to collect a lot of positive SR so I'm keeping at 99

Another Magane fest. Group 4 is just terrible right now.
Don't think it will be, they're good on more 'point and squirt' tracks where there's a focus on low-mid end acceleration but the Jag could be really strong there in my opinion and will be the first thing I use. Anything with good top end should be useful, especially if it's also good at cornering. I'd think the Meganes out of La Source will be decent but will get swallowed up by the end of the Kemmel Straight and that'll be it for their challenge.

*Just seen @Pigems test, I reckon he needs to try harder in the Lambo!!:D

Gotta say I do like the 86 on Race C. Really like the 53-47 feel to the car. And the kick of the rear wheel drive.

The brakes are suspiciously too good. And the handling. Probably the most forgiving car offered on the Nurburgring, in terms of being able to recover. Really though? Sure makes Toyota look good. :odd:

Who knows? Maybe it is that good? :)

edit - or maybe it's because I drive this car in the Dailies so much.

Yeah penalty system is balls. Starting pole at interlagos, with cold tyres t1 is hard, but P2 is always within no risk dive bomb territory so what can you do? I got a penalty after the guy hit me from behind and then bounced into the pit wall. Bear in mind he hit my rear and I was already breaking so late as to struggle to hit the apex.

As soon as your SR is below S you're in free fall. I had none of these issues in S and then one unlucky SR race I'm in A... Then the next thing you know you're punted to C.

I raced iracing for a couple of years, had no issues there so I'm pretty sure it's not me causing these problems.

have the day off but for the first time i`m not actually looking forward to racing my new rig-this week already down from DR/B SR/S to DR/D SR/A.
my race times are roughly a second off my quali time and i`m happy to get off line and let faster drivers through, especially if i miss an apex or brake marker but when you start 8th and there are 4 unqualified drivers with A+ and A ratings (and 2 seconds faster than me)starting from the back of the grid makes it really hard, especially when you spend hours shaving 1/2 a second off-am i supposed to pull over and let them all pass or stick to the racing line and suffer 3 SR downs in a race!
why should you be able to race without qualifying-why bother with quali at all??
appreciate it must be fun to rip through the back markers but spare a thought for all the damage that ensues.
while i`m at it-alt accounts suck-they just give you an excuse to dick around at others expense.
i know it`s just a game and the technology is awesome but if you`ve ever raced legally it is just plain frustrating.
i don`t care about DR-i probably will never win a race but my Sr is important to me so please man up and qualify so the playing field is level.

I chose GTS because I was told that all the idiots are on Forza. I've only had the game 4 days but I've got all golds in driving school, and the daily race circuits and I have learnt to drive with no TCS. Qualifying is in the top 5 consistently but get torpedoed in turn 1 or 2 every time.

Got the AMG down to 32.4 at Interlagos, BB0, such a tough track this is. Scored 32.6’s in the Mustang and Vette as well. :)

Edit: First lap at the Nurb was a 36.8, having a few more goes at it than I think I’ll do a few races. :)

You've got 2 seconds or so on me, but I'm getting it in Brazil. I *know* the lines, I just can't hit them consistently, and doubly so at Senna. That chicane is REALLY EFFING HARD.

Watch the rear-view mirror — I’m new, too, and I’ve learned over the last couple weeks that I need to give space for the dummies behind me. Sometimes I move over to give them “the line” for them to overrun, and sometimes I let them pass. For the most part, the ones that recklessly pass end up behind me at the end anyways.

Some tracks are also better than others. Red Bull Ring, which has been on twice since I’ve started, is way worse than any of the tracks this week when it comes to tomfoolery.

The penalty system is the problem. I started to race no quali style exactly because I kept getting dive bombed off the track with often BS penalties attached while starting mid pack. I found that starting last gave me a better finishing position on average... It is of course the responsibility of the overtaking driver to make a clean pass. Unfortunately the penalty system rewards bumping and I also get bumped by the people starting behind me. Hence it took 16 races on Sarthe to get back to SR.S. As long as PD encourages bumping people out of the way it won't change no matter where you start.

Sadly you're better off spending those hours practicing how to avoid people by doing sport races instead of qualifying. Or keep qualifying until you have a top 10 time and can drive away from everyone from pole... (And occasionally still get taken out T1 :/)

Yeah, I was thinking that asking the folks in this thread to stop racing unqualified was gonna be a pretty tough sell.
But if he's getting hit by those guys, I can sympathize with that. If you're a fast guy starting at the back, you definitely shouldn't be roughing up the back-markers as you pass. I've done it unintentionally, due to the people starting in front of me often braking in unexpected places. :guilty:

It sucks that they have to deal with that, as I'm sure everyone out there is just trying to do their best. I understand why it frustrates them. But it isn't likely to change, because DR remains almost irrelevant in matchmaking.

Thanks I will get better at multitasking soon, I hopped back on and got a third place with TCS off so there is some progress today even if my DR/SR doesn't think so.

@Sven Jurgens -thanks for the advice-was just letting off steam-probably frustrated that as a 65yo i may have reached the limit of reflexes vs ability so will just keep battling on and stop whingeing cos i just love this game-especially the sound!View attachment 870950

Amazing, I see you have your priorities right! Now that's a sound setup 👍👍👍

DR can't even work when nowadays 25% of the people in races are alt accounts or resets. 'DR C' driver getting the fastest lap in A+ to D lobbies. And of course racing from the back DR entirely depends on how long the race is. Even with qualifying my DR was highly unstable depending on track, car, time of day racing.

It's a tough balancing act, starting behind the slower drivers with often impatient last to first drivers further behind. I usually try to create a small gap to the car in front of me, stalling the ones behind me as much as possible until I can figure out how close is still safe with the one in front. You can't hang back too much (or get bumped), but need a margin to catch that unexpected braking point. Often I feel like I'm trying to protect the car in front from the hungry wolves behind me lol. Most people don't understand or don't want to understand that sticking noses next to cars only slows both of you down while the rest gets away.

unfortunately, the GR3 and GR4 Mustangs and Vipers sound the best so i spend a lot of time mid pack-Meganes and RCZ`s etc handle better but sound like **** and are aurally exhausting.....

How's the 787B on that setup :) I would be doing one make races in arcade mode with the 787B on the N24!

Back on the topic of penalties.... Last race I started behind a 1 bar connection. Despite my best efforts to predict the real position of his car, he actually slowed down way too much at Metzgesfeld instead of the lag slowing his phantom car down again. 5 sec penalty for me. He was jumping all over the place, slowing down, warping back forwards, it was just a matter of time until I got screwed. Of course I had a bunch of cars right behind me, inevitable.

Second lap, I'm behind an out of control driver with 0.5 sec shortcut penalty. I avoid him before the middle straight but go wide. I guess I was too careful again getting back on the track cause 5 sec wall penalty. I catch back up to the erratic driver who goes on to cut or go wide in at least half the corners after karoussel inclusing bouncing off the wall once. For all that he only got 0.5 sec. All you can do is laugh about the stupidity of the system. Try to be careful, have the biggest penalty. Lag or drive like an ass, get blue SR.

I’m so angry I could spit!
I honestly felt like a real race today. Ranked real race. Surprisingly I entered and found myself in an a plus to a room, with people I have seen before and know can be iffy.
My time put me number 8 on the grid. Before lap two begins the polesitter, in an NSX copped himself a .5 pen.
I go by as he serves into turn four where he tries to punt me. I’m seventh at this point. Turn five he tries to go inside but can’t get by and I hit a nice entry. So, I am fine in the double right and through the next left I KNOW.
I ALREADY KNOW YOUR DUMB BUTT IS GOING TO TRY TO DIVE INSIDE!
I covered inside very early into the tight right hander, I have raced this before many many times, and you can get a fine exit in the Vette if you can hookup first which I do. He took a wide entry looking to get the run going leftward approaching the final tun.
He’s of cours on my bumper, I can’t take a normal entry, if I do he will dive, so I stay defensive and fade wider right into braking.
He assumed I was going to go full inside and tried to get on my right wher there was no space.
I’m playing cockpit knew exactly where he was and what to do going into the turn, he decides last minute after another slight bump to me on my right rear quarter panel with his left front to try to dive back inside under braking, spins himself somehow off track on inside and guess who gets slapped with a three second penalty?
It’s BS. I felt a slight bump, and I was thinking what is this idiot doing and bam penalty three seconds running a car off track.
So, up the straight I haul ass..
So now I am back to ninth. I get to eight turn five when a car runs wide. Another name guy is behind me now in an AMG..
Final lap begins...
I’m held up by sixth and seventh, poor exit on turn four but not real bad.
The AMG behind rams his way through inside, on the turn seven I think the tight left uphill...
So I smash him into the right hander, jerk.
Took myself out as well lol. Finished back in eight but the twin 3 second penalties put me to sr A.
Completely horrid race for me.
I was just watching replay and the a plus player vanished after spinning himself out.
GREAT TOO AFRAID TO EVEN FINISH WHAT A LOSER!

(It’s @sturk0167’s fault, no more racing the main on a daily EVER. I MIGHT do FIA, but if it’s another clown parade I have just had enough)
The alt is great fun, player who vanished was speed of lightning or some such name. His behavior was stupid and out of control.
Seemed to me like a player who can get great qual laps but is entitled to be back to his qual position after making mistakes.
I am not going to show the replay, but when he got the pen he began some strange driving.
I’ve had such a run of horrible luck on main it’s been unbelievable. I can’t remember the last time I had a good race on a daily, and FIA was months ago.
Until the pen system gets updated I am done with any daily on main. For these guys racing all the time a bad race or two is no big deal, but for someone who is only in the mood to race for real once a week at most it’s a complete joke at many of these.
Speedolyt gets a pen to serve and says oh okay I will just punt the second I unghost!
Come on people!

It seems like the Gr.3 class of cars creates the majority of people's SR problems. Particularly when they're used in the B races. :odd:
I normally steer clear of the Gr.3 B races.

Yeah, I’m calming down, it’s just, everything was so nice, in a good mindset to race, and get the 3 second pen by the guy running himself off track. I was right in the lead pack too, great opportunity!
My whole career on that account is practically based on racing gr3.
It’s very trying though. I bet the guy that vanished probably did some trick preventing him from Dr loss!
My main has been cursed do some time now!

IT NEEDS AN EXCORCISM
