Yeah, I’m calming down, it’s just, everything was so nice, in a good mindset to race, and get the 3 second pen by the guy running himself off track. I was right in the lead pack too, great opportunity!
My whole career on that account is practically based on racing gr3.
It’s very trying though. I bet the guy that vanished probably did some trick preventing him from Dr loss!
My main has been cursed do some time now!

I actually used my main a couple of times last week at Lemans, and it didn't work out so well. :lol:

I think part of the issue is how these races are at times too short, which encourages aggressive driving.

I agree, but I built my whole career on dailies. I think part of the problem with aggression stems from racers ALLOWING others to do it, IMO there needs to be a culture of no one will let that happen, JMO.
When I was younger it worked really well in other real life activities.
I always get over it like everyone.
It’s part of racing, I mean it’s not racing if nothing is on the line. The ranked bit on main makes it better. I have to say that, even though I am angry right now. It’s awesome that a game can get someone like me worked up. I like that.
 
Speaking of Gr.3 quick races, you guys wanna join me for some?

I've got a lobby up for 15 minute timed races. RM tires, x2 tire wear. Let's have some fun. I'm testing tracks for viability in Season 2 of our IRS Blancpain GT Challenge. Clean or kick, of course :)

Actually ran my miles today practicing for the FIA tomorrow, my terrible DR I usually can do top 5s. The Hyundai is underrated I think, if someone good drove it they might be able to win some stuff.

Gr. X will probably be the SF19 . Edit: grid with false start almost confirms it.
 
Hmm I have the black background race lobby again. The race must have started by now... Stuck in the pre race lobby. That black background must be hard work for the ps4 pro, the fan is going wild :lol: Reboot time I guess.

Ah, only cost me 1300 DR this time. That's about the whole day gone lol. (Not that I care, only track DR now and then for amusement)

So, last night was *supposed* to be race B. I did qualifying laps. I came with the same range as @The_Tullster (my benchmark). Yesterday I watched a rockumentary about Rammstein in Amerika. Suddenly I had a hankering for Nurburgring. My mistake.

I started P10/17 on a grid of mostly DR/A and B. I finished P15. SR back to 99, DR down 550... only 665 to go and the visit to DR/C is over. Day 7 and the odyssey continues......
 
Well, I am gonna ring it on alt.
Any race is far too risky on main.
Time to trundle around the ring.
On alt, punted first race, second race fourth, next race punted and went on rampage.(b race)
Lol it’s time to chill and bog around the ring in the 86...
B race is totally non racable @Voodoovaj was right on the money. If I enter on alt it will be for the sole purpose of playing bumper cars, because right now that’s what it is with the system.
Pen system needs to get stricter immediately.
Any contact should be pen for both players.
I wonder if it’s even possible for me to raise sr at the ring given I stink there?
Lol all line aids ON. Let’s do this!

Despite another disconnect, still plenty fun racing in the evening. I saw @Dairyworker in every race, sometimes it went well, congrats on the victory :cheers: and sometimes it's just what it is.

This was the best race for me despite dozing off in the beginning and nearly ending my race at Kallenhard. The room was messy and I managed to end up finishing 4th from 18th.

Don't mind me swerving on the straight at the end. I had 2 cars next to each other 0.9 sec back, spread out the slipstream. Only way swerving actually works :)

Here's an example of what gives non qualifiers and alt-accounts a bad reputation. He's not a bad dude and tries his best to keep it clean, however he admitted he would never pull these crazy moves on his main account. He also said he drives in chase cam which is how he ended up blocking the car in the middle clip. After that I made sure he stayed behind me so he wouldn't crash me again at the iffy fast left in the middle straight.

That third clip, just why would you ever do that. I had a 0.5 sec penalty from avoiding someone earlier so he had two easy to draft cars lined up. Instead he tries to work his way in between, bumps us both and ends up with a 2 sec penalty. I caught him on the straight in lap 2 after keeping the gap just under 2 seconds all lap. He's fast, probably A+ on his main account, now 'experimenting' on an alt account from the back...
Oh and @Dairyworker moves into 1st in the third clip as well. On the leaderboard, I never saw you in that race :)

Btw here is that laggy driver I talked about earlier. It looks like I simply punt him off at the end but I honestly thought it was lag again like at 1:40 where I move into his car. Instead he actually slowed down way too much.
 
Just jumped in for a couple of races at Interlagos, started 2nd both times (behind a guy clearly building a new account! 5 days access and 48k DR?!!) and was driving the Huracan which is what I qualified in. First thing I noticed was no other Huracans in the race, plenty of Porsches and AMGs.

I know people have talked about a lack of grip in Race B compared to qualy, well... I had absolutely no front end at all, it was as if it had a jack under it and the tyres were barely in contact with the asphalt. The steering was really light, the brakes weren't anywhere near as effective as they should be, and as such I couldn't get anywhere near practice times. I'm used to a little difference between qualifying and races but this was on a whole new level.

Both races I ended up 3rd, having to hold off 4th quite aggressively in the last couple of laps of the second race. But the car had become a completely different animal, even completely different to the Lambo I tested on hard tyres for the Nations at the weekend.

Very strange - anyone else had this?! And is it a reason people have moved to the AMG for the race?

Cold tyres into a downhill braking zone should be tricky but it is a little over done for Daily Race B.

Going to have to skip evenings until my SR comes back up. Silly sods have no racecraft or can't drive in SR A-B races. Race A, P6 > P6 (via P10). One in particular was of the "I'm fast so I'm entitled to any piece of track I want in order to get by... oh, there was a car there?... oh well." variety. Fortunately all three times I came near him he was ghosted (penalty zone) or in the grass :D. He was also madly trying to block catching traffic while ghosted :dunce:

I understand it to start with as the tyres warm up, but not for five laps!

Enjoyed watching that... kept yourself out of trouble and drove good lines.

Not sure I've seen anyone try a pass in to the Carousel before... a bit 'optimistic' :lol:

I was hoping racecraft of my competitors would get better as I move up from SR C>B>A but it sounds just as bad higher up.

SR A/B rooms are usually fairly good .... except between about 4pm and 8:30pm weekdays and on weekends. School kids, some of whom are racing on their parent's/uncle's/grandparent's account so the SR rating doesn't reflect the attitude of the current driver.

Nah, there's some good ones, especially DR b SR a... DR c on the other hand are either unskilled drivers on their way up, skilled drivers with an anger management issue who can't manage to maintain their cool long enough to build a decent score, or skilled drivers running an alt so they don't have to worry about DR/SR.

I can verify this too. I've been doing race B on my alt without qualy and I was in the 911 for most of my races yesterday. There was one race where the car just locked up in every braking zone throughout the race. On one occasion, smoke came out of the rear wheels when I braked for the Senna S. My best lap in that race was just under 32.5. By comparison, my best race lap overall in the 911 is a 31.374.

That was the only race where I didn't do warmup, and in every race I did after that I made sure to do warmup and I had no issues. I don't know if those things are somehow linked though. Are you guys on pad? I've seen this problem reported by a couple friends that are also on pad, but never by a wheel user. :odd:

It isn't, that was the point of the post. Even if we had it, there's not much we can do about it as we don't have a tyre pressure setting. This is crucial to managing tyre temp, along with camber & toe. GT Legends had it and getting it right was worth at least a second a lap on a "real" circuit, maybe half a second on a dinky toy circuit.

It's more just to understand what's happening to them, even if we can't change it. Are brakes cold too, for example?

So many tyre questions that we just have to guess at, would just be nice to have a few facts.

With BoP and fixed suspension settings, I think it would just be frustrating having more info. If suspension tuning were allowed, having just tyre temp would not be enough. GT Legends gave outside, middle and inside temps which allowed you to adjust camber and pressure to suit. Once you got that right, you moved on to diff, sway bar, ride height and damping settings. Then rinse and repeat, 'cause every setting adjusted the temp balance across the tyre.
If you like tinkering with tuning settings (and wheel / pedal settings), have a gaming PC and you can find a copy of GT Legends, you'll be happy for months :crazy: :irked: :lol:

It wasn't a pass attempt. I wanted to make sure to clear the Argentinian that had given me trouble before, yet the car in front started braking a tiny bit early. It was avoiding the car in front while making sure not to get the car behind on my inside to have me end up in the wall. It worked :)
