Rather than make a whole new topic and this thread being my "home" here, is changing turn radius/degree of rotation beneficial via wheel settings? My understanding is the game internally adjusts rotation degree on a car to car basis so I've never tinkered with it.

Sometimes I feel I'm overturning more than I think is necessary to position my car. I'm coming back to a wheel after casual use before so maybe it's a case of still needing to adjust. I'm using a G29.

There is an “automatic” setting on my wheel, but I’ve not used that since I got it.
I’m on Fanatec. Had it since 2017 when GTS came out, I found the automatic setting didn’t feel right back then.
 
I've had some fun racing there, but Spa hasn't been kind to me this week, after holding 99 SR for 17 race days (over a month of real world time) I'm now down to 81 and nearly out of SR S. Hoping to see this come back as a race C soon, might have to try for the 15 clean race trophy with some tooling around at the back to repair the SR!!

BB+5 and start with Hard tires on the rear and Mediums on the front, pit on lap 6 or 7 for full mediums. 👍

The car behaves very differently in the race vs qually. The car has much less grip on the RH tyre. Just be patient with it. My RH laps are typically 1:31-2. My best strategy is doing a one stop, I'm not seeing many races won by no stoppers. Depending on where you're at on the grid, that would determine whether I'd start on medium (near front) or hard (near back). I generally run the hard for 4 or 5 laps, depending on traffic - no point working through traffic only to drop behind at the pit and get held up again.

Use the overtake button wisely. Don't be scared to run TCS to help save the tyres, too.

Got my second win on race C, a Grand Slam+Clean race too, thanks to these tips. Thanks guys.
Although I like SuperFormula and standing starts, I'm never touching that cluster **** of a race again though.

Where was he supposed to go? The guy in front started on the inside, moved to the outside to brake and then cut right to the middle in the braking zone. That’s not how that corner is taken, the outside line is held all the way along the curb and you turn much later. That guy moved right into the middle

On this one, the driver in front is literally in the way, it’s his line no need to yield no overlap. @05rx8 did not have overlap, yet he decided to shove the guy off front bumper to side door.
I drive cockpit all the time, you can’t predict that the guy is going to do x or y. He is ahead it’s his line to drive. It seemed to me that 05 stuffed it up there where there was no space.
The guy signaled his intentions early by not going way left to brake. To me he did right.
It looked like that was maybe last lap also not sure. Convention would be that 05 should get alongside. The guy ahead was putting up a hard but fair defense there imo.
I just see no excuse for him. He wasn’t able to get position to have any corner rights there.
I think that often people in a last lap situation get desperate. For me personally, I would not have pushed onto the guys bumper not knowing when he’s gonna brake or what he’s gonna do. 05 plowed him.





So, I did some qualifying on the main and after 30 laps I was spent. Optimal is low but qual is meh. I haven’t been driving so it was good to get back into a groove.
I may run a few c races later on the alt if I get home in time. When I was running it, I was going all out meds first about lap 8 or so switching to the hards.

my opinion is I don’t see how this is an open door. But, playing from chase view it probably does look like it is.

Edit, I haven’t driven Spa since last time. I pulled up the track on my rig in arcade mode. It seems I may owe a bit of an apology to @05rx8 pigems and racing grandpa, I think you guys were right after a rewatch.
The turn in there is much deeper than I remembered...

I think you should look again. At first I saw what you saw, but on second look on a bigger screen it was clear that the front car first goes left and brake, then when the SLS goes right the car turnsto the right and swerve in the braking zone.
Now, saying that it's impossible to know what people around you are doing when in cockpit is a very good reason to not drive in cockpit. If this was a result of lacking situational awareness he wouldn't have changes the line twice in the braking zone. Yes, desperate, but from the first car.

I’d say the chase car never had a right to the corner at any point. Imo the lead car felt he showed he was covering inside, then saw the chase car was GOING TO TAKE THAT INSIDE NO MATTER WHAT LOL. So he was like ok bud then he got out on the short end of the stick. Doesn’t change that the chase car was not in control of his car...
I made the mistake of what I though was covering the inside there a couple times when I first drove Spa Gr3, but I learned that if you leave one square inch of track to your right people will sideswipe ya every time, using you as a brake.
I have that situation covered anymore for the most part.
I just don’t see anyway in Hades that was acceptable from the chase car. Having a run is having a run. Having the run doesn’t mean people are just supposed to pull over.

You can't pick a line at the start of the braking zone and then drive diagonally across the braking zone to effectively block all lines. That's ********. Pick your line and stick to it. By the end the car in front isn't even moving to the apex, he's moving to close the line, having chosen to defend the outside. Having committed to that line he needs to drive it. In effect by hanging it around the outside to claim the inside on the left. IMO What he should have done is stay right and claim the apex and make the overtaking car's life as difficult as possible.

This is what touring car racing looks like at Spa.



There are endless examples on youtube. Watch how definitive you need to be in defending your line if you're going to be successful in reality, especially in classes where racing can be a contact sport.

I'd absolutely love to see this zero contact racing (especially in these lower classes) that people suggest exist. I've never seen it anywhere from DR E to DR S, SR E to SR S, FIA races or World Tour.

You need to rewatch and pay attention to the braking because you are 100% wrong on this.

The lead car moved all over the braking zone which is illegal. The chase car was in complete control. The lead car made his intentions 100% clear in that he was going for the outside line and forcing the chase car to the inside.

BUT it’s also clear the lead car thought his initial block of the outside line was enough, he didn’t expect the chase car to react quick enough. Once he realized the chase car was going for the inside he then decided to brake diagonally across the track which is illegal. You can’t start braking in one line and then switch to another. There are no exceptions to this.

Some of you guys have a very very flawed understanding of racing etiquette and brake zone rules.

That or you guys just don’t understand what’s happening due to the camera angle. If he posted a video of the lead cars cockpit as well as a exterior view, you would see he was all over the braking zone.

Bottomline, the lead car made a desperate and illegal/dangerous move that is outlawed in racing.

It was open when the decision to go down the inside was made. The car in front saw it and moved over. No, people don't get to shove their way through with the front bumper, but the guy in front doesn't get to pinch in either.

There would not have been contact if the car ahead didn't pinch him.

There is more than enough room for three cars in that lane. I know this, because I passed two guys at the bus stop after they bumped into each other's side and I slid through the middle. So, 3 cars, plus space between the cars. In the first pic you posted, you can see the leading car has chosen the middle lane, which leaves the inside open for a pass, then he slides over as the pass was being made.
 
Since it's a hot topic, I'll throw my 2 cents in. @05XR8, that pass was certainly not your fault. In the same situation, if I had the run on that car, I would be looking for a way around as well. He was doing everything in his power to force you to go through him. He might have won or finished second to you, but he wanted you to lose because of a penalty. That isn't sportsmanship. Just by looking at his KP stats, he has 1002 race wins. Was it really necessary to block someone for another win?

Spa started off hurting me, but then I stepped into the SF races. Those literally murdered my SR. I went back to Spa last night (on the DS4, oddly) & got it back up to a B. Not the S I had at the start of the week, but I'm satisfied.

Alright, yes after further review on my rig, the turn in point there is far deeper than I remembered. I haven’t raced Spa all week, so my mistake 100 percent.
That’s a long braking zone right there.

Yes, the car in front did not defend correctly, the results show. Lead car blocked just as @Pigems said. My apologies.
After watching the complete video and also bringing that up on my rig, it is obvious. He was swerving under braking before the turn in point. He was not turning toward apex and 05 was not diving. That’s true.

Again, really sorry guys, I should have looked closer before spouting off and making a fool of myself.
Watching that on a phone vs my rig makes it patently obvious what was done.

And it's a good thing that we discuss stuff like this, I learned a lot from this. I am sure a lot of others did too.

Now, I am also very positive that the people here could edit a far better racing etiquette video than the one we see in the game. Maybe someone would give it a try?

B/S in gr4 is infinitely cleaner than in gr3.

Nice race where I got to check out @Odiesback ‘s rear end for a couple laps too.

Definitely fun and a pleasure to race with you in the mix! - I lost 2 positions after a mistake on the sharp turn towards Eau Rouge and was pushing to regain it! It was a clean and fun race for sure. However, Spa got me stuck in SR A, but working on making it back to S, let’s see!

I opened a private lobby and did about 30 laps of practice on Autopolis with the same settings as the race. I only used the Supra, I had to put the bb to the front because of the sketchy handling. Easy no stop to me though.

It’s that time of the week. If you go to Spa in anything other than an F-Type or RCF you will get bump drafted, dived, and shoved. And the pen system was nice enough to give me SR downs for all of it.

Had enough of it at the bus stop after an RCF dove the outside and then cut to the apex through my car so just ran him off the road. Not my day at all.

That does sound like a really good idea.
I could put something together, but I definitely wouldn’t call it a complete etiquette video more like dos and donts for beginners or something.
Then the final section would be dirty techniques to employ on the alt account. Jkin
I think you mentioned the German technique brembocontrollen?
There the squeeze, the punt, the baby shove, the nuclear missile, the pit, the juke, the late brake...hmmm
 
Had perfect 99 SR through out the weekend with nations and manu. Decided to race some Spa in something else than the Corvette. Turns out the corvette is slow as hell in accelerating and I trimmed one sec of the qt time. All good I thought and won the first race from 2nd pos. Then it all went south with people using me as a berm and brake. SR 46 :|

It's out of this world how someone can smash you out of a race, take your position and walk away with it while I end up last. I hate this game, but it's so rewarding when the racing is good 1/10 times.

Maybe I should go cool off and finish campaign mode or something for a week

Btw, how do you see upcoming weeks daily config? I can't find it anywhere.
