I've not played much this week but what the hell is going on with the physics?

The R8 at Autopolis is a mess. If you're got traction, it understeers but under all other conditions it oversteers wildly. I've watched the top replays and they're merrily mashing the throttle in a manner which spears me into the barriers.

Anyone know what other quick cars are, to avoid me just working through the catalogue. I'd aim to be high 1:44s here, I'm a second off.

I could be wrong but it feels like the R8 is now more of a handful than the Huracan after the most recent updates.

Well, it was a nice morning of clean racing in the land of the living at 99. The top two starting spots were consistently taken up by sub 1 minute qual times, and a fella planted in pole every race whose way up there on the leaderboard. He was running consistent 1 flat to 1.2! Laps never varied that I saw by much!
I finished third 3 times from third. The best race was the second? I held off a hard charging driver for 4 laps. When it’s clean it’s a great track to race. Had the Adrenalin pumpin. I ran the car stock bb 0 tcs 3 with tops speed autoset lowered. This produced low 1:01 laps consistently. Almost went sub 1:01 a few times, but missed it by hundredths. Tcs worked great on exit, a lot of slipping and sliding going on behind me. The last race I started seventh, and picked up 2 places. All around a great Adrenalin filled morning!
Clean race streak is sitting at five right now, times are good on alt. I am waiting for a good FIA to repair the main on sr. 99 is where it’s at.

I can't help but wonder what a higher TCS setting could do for my time. I think I will try :)

I've felt that way about both cars until somewhat recently.
If you're smooth with your inputs in the R8, it's a bit more manageable.
With the Huracan, it tries to kill you at every turn.
 
I did a test with r8. It really drives great and begs to be pushed, but I still feel the same about it. No thanks in an online race for me.
Huracan is a death trap. The handling of the r8 does feel really really good, but it bites me when I am trying to break 46.
It really really likes to be wound up smoothly, and to me the tcs seems smoother and less intrusive now on it.
Either I am getting slightly better at the game, or there’s more subtle detail in the game. The r8 is tons of fun, I’m just not mister flow so I can’t take advantage of it with any form of consistency.
I do enjoy autopolis though. Gonna try and get back to s on main...I’ll probably lose some Dr today...
Just wanna start at the back and stay out of trouble...What could go wrong?

That's how it was at Spa for me. At Autopolis it's the other way around and I'm 2 tenths quicker in the Huracan, though I've not had much time this week. Never got into the the 44s. The opt. was just about there but the best lap was 3 tenths off.

GT Sport is fun. But trying to be a clean racer is pointless. Ive had 99 in SR since day 3. I jumped in Daily Race C today.
Pole position. Got pushed off by a divebomb in The first corner with a 2 sec penalty. The second corner i got rammed on both sides ended up in a graveltrap backward. Dead last. Worked my way up to 5th. Most of the places i gained drivning by people that were on the side of the road. Two of them got taken out by somebody Who didnt care to use the brakes at all in The hairpin. Got rammed of the track a couple of laps later in The hairpin. Ended up 10th.

Please guide me toward some races with people Who can race clean. DR C or B.

It’s the nature of racing that sometimes you get screwed over...I’d say though the majority of Dr C hitting you etc are probably making honest mistakes in those gr3.
I’ve gone recently one one account from multiple resets and running all the gamut of sr.
The best practice is to not hit other cars, and turn the other cheek. If you do this, you should maintain rating no problem, and as you get up into A on Dr, generally people have solid control. Then you run into some dirty ones, but if you just ignore them and race well, over time the majority of your races will be fun.
I sometimes exact revenge, but that can put you in a world of hurt at lower sr.
On main I have to be really really pissed to go dirty...
At c Dr at least on America’s server, at 99 you will have slow cautious folks, below 99 crapshoot.
A great option is to look into some of the lobbies offered up on the site here. Tends to keep out the riff raff...

Not to sound like a jerk, but here goes. I used to finish mid pack or near the back, in the same position or lower than i started in. That was in dr.B. Instead of playing the system to get races i felt i could win more easily, i got better at the game. I now fight for wins with high drA and A+ drivers, and am a mid A myself. If you don't think you can get any better than i guess you gotta do what you gotta do to enjoy the game.

Still having great racing in the A race today. Hard and clean competition, just how i like it. Had a few more great races with @Mc_Yavel. That ohiobreaker guy that we were racing has been in my races all morning, great competitor, good and clean. I am not doing my best lap times today but have managed a couple wins. Including the next milestone....

Yeah, this week is a lot of fun and good racing. The track/car combo gives some challenge and small mistake make it for more close racing. It's perfect.

We have such a bromance on the track, I get excited when I see you! #nohomo

The worst race I had was all because of me. I made a mistake and got behind slower driver. Attempting to overtake them turn out to be a massacre. I gave them track position back and appologized post race but no responses from them.

As someone who has struggled with SR while gaining DR, this is so accurate. Most of the lobbies I’m in at this point are SR S and and DR A/B, and I’ve run nearly exclusively blue “up” ratings on SR this week. People are able to take multiple lines through corners, braking points are more consistent, etc.

A few weeks ago, I was pretty angry because I was frequently getting punted...and honestly, it’s probably because my braking point was too soon on slower corners...

I took time off from my main account after a run of bad luck. I entered two FIA races at Nurb GP in gr3. Ok, so I’m pretty good at that track and started about fifth in the first one, I ended up getting tangled up and getting very pissed, but it was because I just entered the race without practice, I used qual as my warm up.
The second race I started I think third and got straight punted.
Neither of these would have been a big deal, but I lost my temper and my safety points plummeted as a result to 71.
Basically, part of the reason I had these issues was my own fault for not practicing and being a bit slow, and not respecting cold tires enough.
What I mean is, it’s easy to get frustrated when you move up a level at first because the other people are fast...At some point you better not enter unless you’re ready, which is the mistake I made before.
I remember when I first went from c Dr to b Dr.
The first couple races I was like there’s no way I can do this, these guys are so dirty...Then I realized they were not the problem, I was just too slow in certain places, like you said braking too early etc...
But, I have seen the same that you mention in most of the races at 99 since that’s where I have hung out most of my career. You get some crappy ones sometimes, but the majority are great fun.

Thanks for the advice. :cheers: Jumped Into daily C again. Had a clean good long fight with a turkish guy. We stayed within 0,5 seconds of eachother. He ran 2nd and I 3rd. He overtook me on lap 2. I braked to early in The first corner. On lap 10 He made a mistake in The righthander after the Downhill section so he spun which led to me braking midcorner. Luckily i didnt spin. That race saved both my DR and SR for the day. And it was really really fun!

I did my first ever DR B race today. It was a disaster.
I have been starting in the top four all week and have had clean fun races.
Now I start as p7. Make my way up to p5, then get punted (may was too slow, idk) and end up p11. In the midfield it was utter mayhem. Pushing, barging, ramming and all of the above again. I got pushed off, and my nerves in combo with dirty tires made me dead last. And for the first time this week I lost DR.
I said, enough is enough and hung up my controller.
Next week I will likely be back in DR D where I belong.

I went c to b a few times before it stuck at b
Huge change huge. At B often people have speed but poor racecraft/control, plus low b to high b is a huge difference again.
Mid pack B is very tough to get used to racecraft wise very tough.
My first b race I was seriously like this is impossible, almost didn’t want to try after that, just kept plugging away...
I think a lot of that really formed up how I tend to race.

I’d share up a race replay or two showing the hug inside curb survival technique for Tsukuba lol.
I never see people run it the way I do, maybe once or twice but it’s not common...
 
After two days away, came back to Autopolis before the weeks was over... did few hot laps and at race time it was a struggle to keep the car on the track!
I guess I must’ve forgotten the grip level for races... didn’t realize before how slippery it was.

Will try one more. Closing the week with a qualifying time of 1:46.56

Tonight’s lobbies were tough... all DR As and some A+s... that time got me in P17 on the grid!
 
Has any one done any testing with the new Supra? I spent time throwing my usual Bathurst livery at it for tomorrow. I'd hate to think it turned out to be a POS :lol:.

BOP On, I set a 13.1 at Bathurst. I think laps were in the 12s for Vantage and Meganes last time out.

My impression is, I can go super late on the brakes. However, braking after Skyline has to be precise. Gets a bit squirrelly. I've nearly driven 2000kms from the time I got it. Doing mainly Custom races at all the tarmac tracks.

The steering is direct. Accelerating while turning, it just keeps turning. Slightly lifting the throttle, I mean a hair width, gives even more turn.

We'll see how it goes in a proper race versus the World. ;)

All cars I drove at Autopolis, the best: FT-1 Good handling and grip
Almost I didn't feel the tire wear

Just raced my last race of the week. Been racing the RX7 with a really fun (read loose) tune that got me down to a 1:00.1. Finished the week with 8 wins, 6 seconds and a few 3rds. Finished at or ahead of my Q position in every race but one, and that one was the only one off the podium. All of my 2nd place finishes were behind the #9 in my region, and he was running 59.8 when in the clear. My best race lap was a 1:00.117 and my best race time was 7:07.5... 3 seconds behind mr. #9. Lots of sliding around, having a blast. My second to last race (finished 3rd) was him (pole 59.4xx) and another guy .001 ahead in Q, and there was a bit of bumping, lots of tire smoke, some side by side sideways action, and a FL of 59.8 and my best 1:00.1 even with all the playing. I'll have to post some video if I can figure out how.

I hope I get to race this car, with this tune again. I bet it would be a blast at RBR, since oversteering cars seem to go well there.

Edit: Though I think of myself as a DR-B driver, this combo, and all the wins and podiums, have put me close to 40k points and solidly into A. We'll see how long it lasts.

It really helps to be aware of the psychological aspect of racing online. After a while you develop a sort of perception for how other people drive, and you have to use that to make good judgement calls. If someone is overly-aggressive and you have a feeling they might divebomb you, sometimes it's better to just let them through; if they're really in a hurry they'll probably just **** up anyway.

I had a race earlier today at Autopolis; on the penultimate lap I closed in a group of four cars all fighting like crazy to occupy the same space, and in those situations you can just see what's going to happen. On Turn 2 of the final lap, the guy in front goes too deep, bounces off the wall, pinballs off the other three cars, three of them are knocked off the track, I pass them, the last one gets an unfortunate penalty from the incident and I pass him when he serves it.

The thing is, I survived because I could see what was going on and purposely kept my distance behind them. I could have easily put myself right in there with them, and it probably would have ruined my race as well. On the surface, it's easy to place the blame on the one guy who knocked everyone else off the track, but they all should have known better. Obviously you can't avoid every incident, but it helps to have that awareness. Self-preservation is so important, it's better for your DR and SR, and probably your sanity as well.
