Tried the R8 (the qualifying meta) for Race C and found out the hard way that the tyre wear is pretty brutal on that thing. Very fast for the first half of the race, almost impossible to control for the second half.

Tyre wear on the R8 has been pretty brutal since at least the first Gr3 race at Catalunya shortly after they added the track.

Well him and my uncle tore that engine down. I still remember that rumbelin sound. I was headed down to Selinas with a weekly load. You could smell the whisky burning down Laguna Secaaaa.... Leguna Secaaaa....So yeh, loaded up the big V8 with Mason jars and put the pedal to the metal escaping from the revenuers. I knew it was gunna be tight with faster runners than me, so I was a bit surprised to start P8/19. Only 2 DR/Ds, 5 Cs and the rest Bs.

Auto drive lets go at a 🤬 of a place.. as per usual. I was ready so I got to T1 before the bootlegger behind me could crash into me. Things were a bit slicker than qualy, but I was doing ok, till I was knocked off the track. I was up to P4 at the time. Not really a dirty pass. There was enough room, but his rear end started to drift. That put me in the sand and spun out just as I was about to get out. Respawned back in P14 :banghead:. The trunk was a mess of broken jars .

Off I set again, Johnny Law wasn't gunna get me! I tried to get around the circuit as best as I could. Dirty tyres were making it really squirrely, pushing me wide and into the rubber marbles on the track edges.. didn't help :(. I hung in there and slowly managed to claw back some places. I crossed P11, and one of the few who didn't have a penalty.

SR blue. DR went up about 120, which was good. Lost all my shine, so no pay for me, which was bad. Rosco didn't catch me, which was good. Another day above DR 1:odd:.

I havent driven on Laguna Seca since my forza motorsport days a few years ago. Im assuming the MR cars will be dominant here since its a grip track.

i would give the peugeot, alfa or honda a chance if you dont want to be an r8 pleb

could someone be kind enough to explain to me how brake balance affects understeer and oversteer. where would you set the bb to counter understeer and oversteer. thanks in advance

Ok, so something I've noticed with BB on this game is that it appears to impact how the car over/under steers even when you are not on the brakes...this shouldn't be a thing but here we are.

So adding front brake will make the car understeer (tight) while adding rear brake will make the car oversteer (loose).

This is obviously compounded by any combination of braking too early or late on entry and accelerating too early or on hard on exit.

My advice. Brake early enough so that you are not still braking while turning in...and for the most part roll back into the throttle on corner exit as opposed to mashing it.

One more tip...for the low HP cars on tracks with lots of turns (usually Race A) I dial in a ton of rear brake...this allows you to drag the brakes a bit to help you rotate through the corner while staying on the gas to keep your RPMs up..which is important in a low HP car....just be sure to be off the brakes before turn in or you'll find yourself backwards in a sand trap lol .

I tried A too. It is very fun!

It kind of depends. If you are braking in a straight line and coasting through corners then brake balance to the front (-) will give you shorter brake distance and sharper turn in. If you trail brake it's wiser to set it to +.

Edit: the understeer you get most here is from getting on the loud pedal too soon or too hard. It will scrub over the front wheels then. Try getting on the gas at or after apex
thanks @RacingGrandpa. and @DigDugJones. Will give this a go and n see if I can improve my lap times. the o my problem I can experience during tail breaking is finding the perfect timing at which I should ease of the brake n make the turn in. I'm sure practice makes perfect. thanks for your input.

Found the 4C to be much friendlier on tyre wear. You get left behind on the start/finish straight but not too bad otherwise.

Also realised that the top 6 get an instant bonus thanks to the rolling start. P7 starts on the corner and 8th and below have to brake for the corner. Starting 7th actually leaves you in no man's land for the first lap or so.

Fun race though despite the lack of strategies and enjoying the track :)

For once can we have a race B other than group 4 at Bathurst please. Seems to pop up constantly.
Honestly I like it for this week. Something recent while Christmas is going on so it doesn't matter I won't have much time to play.

There are two new combos if you want them.

Race A is fun. Slow, but fun as hell.

That best describes it. A slow car on this track is a match made in heaven for me. It's one of my worst/disliked tracks in a fast car. I'm always slow and erractic through Schikane and around Haug-Haken but the Golf has made it a lot more manageable for me. Max speed of 100mph/161kph helps.

Interestingly, the track has never been used for classes below Gr.4 (at least after the weekly race switch)... I'm really enjoying it in a slow car and it's ideal for wheel practice. I'm at 2:43.8 for qualifying. Hopefully races will be just as fun.

The chicane at Bathurst is getting gamed for penalties so badly.

See somebody beside you on the inside? Turn in on them, bounce off and cut the chicane. Minimal time lost and you've just given them a 7 second penalty.

You can now never be overtaken at Bathurst.

Daily 3 has been fun this morning. Laguna Seca is great. Gained 6,400 points and 500 away from DR A. First time ever in A ranking, maybe. All Lexus this morning at Seca.

You are insanely fast.

I apreciate the compliment. I don't feel fast though. Gonna be tough for me to trim that time down, but hopefully it will get me some decent matching this week. I will definitely be running laps on both the other races this week but i need to improve my knkwledge of nurb gp and this is a great combo to do that with i feel.

To add to the bs. This time I was defending so took the outside and got hit lightly from the inside but stayed on track. It's ok, light hit, we were driving clean, giving each other space.

But I get a 7s penalty for it!?

So this is teaching me that if you get hit don't control it, go off track to give the other person the penalty even if they don't deserve it because otherwise you'll get it.

To rub salt into the wound we ran side by side through the next 2 corners and he beat me by 0.146s... before my 7s penalty...

This penalty system... Why does it have to always assign blame? Sometimes it's a racing incident...

It was a legit good driving from both of us.

Anyway rant over.

I never should have looked at this site this morning!
I look, Nurb GP race a in the 83 GTI.
@Dairyworker posts up a .627. They had this combo once before but with a newer GTI. I had good memories from that...
3 hours later I am beating my head against the wall and cop a .604.
That is a surprisingly engrossing combo for A race.
@Dairyworker, I looked after hitting that lap and we were both in top ten at that moment.
I was cursing you all morning lol, then I was like ok no wonder, top ten.
There’s a lot more there, we can push the times lower...
That car is more difficult than one would expect to get around old GP.
Damn fwd.

Oh my gosh. I love Laguna Seca, but Daily Race C is such a mess. I've never experienced more divebombs in a Daily Race. It's like some of these people have the attention span of a dog. I didn't have a single race where I wasn't punted off multiple times. It's unfortunate because I'm actually pretty comfortable with the circuit; I ended up net positive every race, but only after major setbacks.

From what I've seen it's been fairly messy, but I put it down to people learning a new track. If someone behind me makes me nervous I just let them past. If their driving is as bad as I think I'll usually get the position back, sometimes an extra positions too if they take someone else out...

On the uphill section I was behind a gaggle of 5 cars really packed together. Two got shoved off the track and two got 4 second penalties. 4 free positions for me

I drive with that philosophy as well, it was just overwhelming. Virtually every single time someone got behind they would try to force their way through.

I think laguna seca is going to have a couple of meta cars for qualifying but race will be what you manage tires in. Not seeing too many R8s in the race. I think I am going to bag the AMG next time and go for something else. It helps to be silky smooth, but even on my best clean runs I was really sketchy by lap 13. Can still pull out 1.26 lap time then, but one twitch away from binning it totally. What else is better on tires besides the 4C?

WRX? Supra?
