Yep, despite none of the A/S races in FIA last night being clean, I still had some good finishes (from last). I would usually end up 5th or 6th in the first lap just avoiding the wreckage then already get bumped off at the right turn after the second chicane, in Ascari or Parabolica with a penalty for good measure. So back to the back on lap 2 and the penalty zone. And then slowly gaining positions again, mostly from others fighting each other. Even starting at the back had no guarantees of getting through T1 unscathed. I let go of the gas brake real early, just casually follow the last cars only to get bumped off by cars spawning behind me, going solid in the chicane and either leaving me in the sand or with a 7 second penalty :banghead:

It's Monza with twitchy cars on a laggy server, it's a **** show the first 2 laps. But lap 3 you can start to breath again and still have 12 laps of actual racing to look forward to. There were still plenty people ready to barge pass, dive bomb or hump your bumper, but also those with which I had awesome close contact free racing, fully synchronized around the track trading positions a few times. It is possible to go around the track with only a few feet between the cars at all times, but too many people think that sticking a nose in gets them there faster instead of waiting for a moment where you can make a pass stick. Too many times I got up to two cars hindering each other, then one of them falls back. I pass him and want to get on to close in on the second one, only for the one I just passed forcing me to go defensive so we both slow down and the other gets away. By the time I shake the hindering car, the other has already had time to get back into hot lapping mode and has increased the gap beyond draft range. In contrast, while I was glued to another car while swapping positions on the straight, we made up time to the next car and both profited in the end. The dirty driving is not the most annoying anymore, it's the constant contesting every corner even when there is no possible chance of making a clean pass. Yet let them go ahead, they can't keep it together while in front :banghead: more time lost.

I didn't even set a Q lap on monza, i have no desire to go there, i admire you for your stamina... :-)

Enjoy this dude, his payback misses the target:

On a more positive note, this is why i race.. so much fun with this cool dude a 5 lap clean battle!

Yes, you never had significant overlap before turn in, your nose should not have been there in the first place.

You were full on the brakes with not many options to avoid (You could have gone further inside, even to the wall as per instructions of the etiquette videos) so not all blame is on you for the contact. However after bumping the blue car you let go of the brakes and followed through taking the position and giving the blue car a penalty in the process.

I see where you thought you had a run on him, but it was too late to make a clean pass.

So, had a weekend full of racing - I had to do some work related stuff, actually to just look at the PC making sure that whatever was running, was running properly. Basically got paid double money to drive...

Finished the week with 34k DR, had decent races today, at least after realising who the dirty players are and letting them go. They took each other out anyway in most cases...

Top race was one with 7 of the worst dirty drivers I have ever seen(my friends The Russia , the Turk and another Belgian which I discovered today were in it). I got wiped out by a British player in lap - he got a 2s penalty from the Russian while divebombing and I was in the Russian's slipstream on the strait he probably thought I was the responsible. When we were side by side he took me off and sent me to plow the fields...

That got me to 18th from 5th, and till the end I was 3rd without putting up sensational laps. But the amount of mayhem was ridiculous - 12s in the same corner for the Turk, at least 8 for the Russian, the Belgian took 4 cars just in my view, plus countless others more subtle dirty moves by other drivers.

It was Puntfest equivalent of the last laps in the Final from Sydney. Dirtiest race I have ever seen and by a mile...

In the end, my week was very good - got from 20.5 to 34k by racing Brands in the 911. Next week will be short one in terms of racing - I am game for the FIA races on Tuesday and Wednesday, not sure about racing dailies...

From Thursday on I am on a road trip, so no racing next weekend...

That is basically the only overtake move i see on GTS anymore tbh. Usually more egregious than that though.

I am almost more excited for Project Cars 3 than GT7 at the moment. Even though little is known about either.

I can see what you mean, and after watching it several times it doesn't look as clean cut as i felt it.
But imho he does his fair share of making this an incident, he knows i am coming up on his inside, he turns into my path (i could leave the track, might do that the next time as per your suggestion) and keeps on turning in on me. Had he gone through the corner without contact he would be on the inside with a fair run on the next corner.

The thing is, for me at least, there are no games I enjoy more... I don't have any other hobbies I'd rather be doing.. And I'm not a fan of private lobbies for various reasons...

I genuinely hate this penalty system, but every now and then I find myself having a sweet battle with a clean guy and it's all just so worth it...

What you said made a lot of sense, but what I don't get is: how did the game determined that it was my fault?
How am I the one to blame for all of it?
If you look at the radar, you can see I was clearly ahead of him, I braked later and left him a car's width, but given the fact that he was in the car with much better rotation, he was able to carry more speed... One might even say he hit me...
I don't get why there's a penalty, I don't get why I was the one penalized..
(btw, I'm not challenging you or anything, I really just wanna understand the system, maybe it'll be less frustrating if I know what not to do)
The penalty system is looking at totally random things. We thought we had it nailed down to the person on the outside of an overtake gets the penalty. Last night I got a tire wide at exit of Sheene and got sliding. While saving it, still hard to the left, someone clips me hard on the outside spinning me out. I got 7 seconds. I was also left spinning onto the back straight where I had to reverse back on track as I didn't reset. Yeah, that was my ugliest race, and penalty setups like that make it worse.

Randomly thought of how may times I have seen @Qyn pop up as active when I log in around the 2 am slot EST. Got to admit i have still seen plenty of fast people last night, and the one time i tried it in Asia there were still A drivers cleaning up
Yeah brother, I usually don't run during, what @Sven Jurgens calls, "Dirty hours". :dopey: When all the kiddies are out of school, and the adult GTS'ers are fresh home from work and still frustrated from a crappy day at the job. :scared:Anytime after 11pm EST is when I've encountered the cleanest racing where racecraft matters. :)

I cant judge too much, when I was starting out in the kitchens beer and Gt1, GT2 or Oddworld games were my wind down after getting off shift at 3am. If we had GT Sport it would have been that.

Some of us just go about weird hours. After experimenting last couple of nights the really late races are a lot cleaner. The problems I encountered last night were all my own making.
Gotta do what works:cheers:

Yep, he is to blame as well. I would even put more blame on the penalty system. It looks like he's trying to get his car in front of you to catch you on his back bumper. That doesn't trigger a penalty, any side contact in a corner while you are the outside car, 80% of the time you get a penalty. It takes a lot of trust to leave the door open and rely on the other car to do the right thing. I'm still way to trusting, almost every race at Monza I get shoved off by a nose sticker or get a penalty from someone pushing through the inside. I guess tomorrow I'll just have to drive BMB while staying on the infield

Well if race C is the f1500t or super formula then here is a look at how those cars will fair under tomorrows settings.

The fuel and tyre settings seem taylor made for the f1500t and should make for a very interesting race.

If it's not either of these cars then iv wasted 4 hours of my life making this video

Anyway here's the strategy guide

Gee the RCZ one make is good fun with the right people. The key is if folks k now they need to brake earlier in a tow, if they do, there is some jolly good racing to be had.

The penalties are a real shame, why being hit in the ear is considered my fault I am not sure. It's a real issue as when cars in front are fighting they are slow through chicanos, I see this and brake a bit early but often get rammed then hey the penalty.

Anyway, gaining dr and sr on s/a and b rooms soninwolll take that.

Your strategy guides are always a big help. Especially if the strategies work for all the cars. Saves me the trouble as I am the idiot that would always look at the option of a no stop.

Gave Up actually racing at Brands this week. Just tried out some Gr3 cars I usually don't use. I hit my best QT with the WRX 1:22.2. I really like this little thing, so much more than the Evo. I'm surprised I don't see it more often.

I ran it a couple of times and did OK, but it can't compete with the metas. Nice and stable though, easier to keep on the thrack. That's where I made most of my gains, by not crashing when others did.

I'm excited for the BMB gr3, my favourite race of all.
I love the crapshoot factor of "Anyone can win"
However although it's always fun as a daily daily, it just doesn't have the legs to run for a whole week.
Glad it's getting a run but safe to say I'll be completely over it by Wednesday, Thursday at the very most.
