Time for another flouncing from the dailies until the system is fixed, and I've only done 4 race C's!!!

After the farce this morning of receiving penalties and SR down for being the inside car that was driven into, the race C I've just done is totally set up for the gamers and cheats. T1, Lap 1, person in 18th dive bombs me. They tap the armco on the inside, I get a 2 second penalty and SR down for forcing a car off the track. Race over effectively.

Lap 8, same corner, car comes from about a second, second and a half back, dive bombs, sends me off the track. 1 second penalty, SR down, no explanation for penalty. They get no penalty and end the race as a blue s.

Also got an SR down for a ghost car coming back onto the track. They cross my path as I move out of the way, they unghost as they get close to me; bang, SR down!

I end the race with a red S and a loss of 15 SR points.

As mentioned earlier somewhere, the Toyota 86 is good on tyres!

I think this is a really good example of how the penalty system has been improved.
I started at the back of race A, and made a bunch of easy passes on lap 1 because a lot of people crashed. By the end of lap 2, I made it to 2nd place. The leader was about 4 seconds ahead, and I was reeling him in.
On the final lap, I was getting pretty close, and could see that he had to serve a 0.5 track limit penalty.

Watch the ridiculous way he decided to handle his demise, which by the way had nothing to do with me (he failed miserably )
I don't think it's a huge deal if people are going to do that sort of stuff. I'll respond accordingly, and can usually even things out.

My point to all of this, is that if this incident happened a week ago, I'm positive I would have been penalized, and the jerk would've won. So, in that sense, I guess things are a little bit better now. 👍

I can’t remember seeing that lately...Contact, car off, car off given the penalty.
This bodes well going forward.

Also for c race. Not only did I use the 86 I used tcs 3.
It’s a major lifesaver when you never know who might snap towards the end of the race and rampage...IMO getting into it with people is far riskier running alfresco. Also staying on the driving line no one ever admits to using helps tire wear. Tonight I will run either a mustang or a Megane

I generally use TCS 2 with the 86, but it seemed a bit more intrusive today. Tried TCS 3 and it was a lot cleaner and didn't bog the car down as much. TCS 3 seems the way to go.

I used to run many cars on 2. I never liked one, but I agree lately bb0 tcs 3 seems solid for me on racecars.
On 2 it’s like it allows a bit more slide, realizes it and cuts to no power. Cars balance gets all wonky.
It’s like 3 kicks in sooner before things get too out of shape.
I like the benefit of get hit? Unintended slide? Boom no split second of throttle lighting up the tears and a spin. Also go off get tires dirty? Easier to maintain...reset after an off? Floor it and you won’t light up the rears.
I’m honestly faster over many laps vs just one just running the 3.
It’s like cheating. You can do things others csnt.
The one caveat with it is steering angle.
Too much and it cuts power, however imo this shows you where you are making the bad inputs and where you need that less steering angle, or rolling on power more smoothly exiting turns.
Also like on c race I’d say a lot of people I see would almost be faster through the firsturn on down just turning it to 3 punching it and steering and letting it modulate.

Interlagos is almost the perfect storm for maximum tilt. A track where a fast lap depends on cutting the track without exceeding track limits, which makes qualifying torturous as an exceeded track limit is an automatic restart rather than writing off two laps and wasting another two minutes of your life. Not running those limits close sacrifices the best part of a second.

The race is then a case where the fastest car is twitchy and difficult to be consistent with on the DS4, so you're running the track limit gauntlet again and generally edgy and vulnerable to a tap. But if you want to be competitive at the very front you need to use that car because its pace vs tyre wear characteristic is much better than anything else. Not using it and you're battling in the midfield with people coming at you from behind with serial divebombs laying your precious SR, and less important IMO DR, wide open for a pummelling in a game where SR is hard to come by.

TLDR. Daily Race C: Start from the back on your alt account.

I thought only the daily races were nasty, boy was I so wrong! I played 3 FIA Nations Cup right now, and the level of dirty playing is something I’ve not seen before. You’d expect some clean racing there, but I was so wrong! It got so bad that in the last race I had one guy ram into me and push me off just because I was so much faster than him. Get rammed, catch and overtake, get rammed again. Happens 3 times in a 15 lap race! Had to report the guy.

@sturk0167 made Race A sound too good. Had to try it.

The one race I had was filled with familiar racers. So it's not a big sample size. Could just be due to the good room.

But it couldn't have been better, really. Like racing at the best of times. 👍

Although I did get my ass beat. In my defense it was my first race this week and the competition was fast.

Decided to give race B a go and had green SR all the way for 1st race but lost DR points.
Second race still green until I get the same guy punt me on the same corner twice , still got green SR but lost more DR.

Here's a video of the last couple of laps from my race this morning. The Spaniard (who I may slightly identify in the video!) was defending like this ALL race, and had the nerve to call the Frenchman who ran him off on the final turn dirty!

Just wondering, you guys always post very clear videos, and mine are always crap quality! Is there something I can do in settings or is it effectively because my PS4 is old?!

I did a race C with the 4C since it did me well last time. Wrong car, wrong tires, wrong room. For some reason I started on IM tires again :banghead:. I started 19th so didn't even have the luxury to brake early for T1, 4C on IM goes sideways through T1, at least I ghosted while keeping the car in a controlled slide so 20th could simply drive through me without knocking me off.

I passed a couple wrecks in T whatever the one with the endless run off is. So had to be careful again not to get rammed off while trying to keep the car from spinning out. I made it to the pit in one piece! So firmly in last I 'start' the race. I'm not really catching up, mostly A/S room, my pace in the 4C was woeful, 1:43. But I still caught up with a couple fighters. One escaped, the other decided to slow down on the straight to wait for me to ram me off before quitting.... At least I didn't get a penalty.

So back to driving well behind, which is where I stayed and got timed out a couple hundred meters before the finish line. No thanks. Too boring which will only turn into dirty crap when I catch up. The winner, A+/S with red connection and 527ms ping. Bad internet makes you faster!

Try setting a solid qualifying time and choosing the correct tires and I think you'll have a much more enjoyable experience. I was lucky enough to grab 2 wins last night in the mustang by qualifying in the top 5 and just waiting for the leaders to kamikaze each other.

I've already won a bunch of the A races from the back. The old Camaro is pretty fun. Might be worth a try.

My guess is that people who play like that are kids who don't know how to race properly. Though there are clearly plenty of adults who are *****, too.

Defending is covering the inside and making them take the long way around. That is blocking, which is illegal in most racing, I believe. I wish PD would come up with a way to penalize that...like if the car ahead moves over in front of a faster car behind, then the faster car jogs sideways to go around, and the car ahead does it again and gets rear ended, he gets a penalty...but only if he does the dance. That might calm this crap a bit.

The complaints between the top drivers didn't look very inviting to join them, plus as I mentioned the winner had 527ms ping, can't race that in any setting. I know my pace at Interlagos, I have raced there often enough. My current DR is too high to get a good race there and I can't be bothered to race until it adjusts again, just not that much fun anymore. Hopefully next week has some tracks I like.

Hearing everyone else's reports from race C I see I am not alone in the disaster fest going there. Might have to for race A myself. Done ok with the 4C myself, but that is in the last few laps as everyone loses tires. Lap 1 to 3 i keep getting punted off so starting from way behind. Best clean race i had was starting in the back and getting trounced but having some clean racing.

I might try the Megane if I go out again. Evidently it doesn’t get bullied as hard in the first half of the race as the 4C but is still good on tires.

But I’ve also run plenty of laps at Interlagos this week, and it’s only Tuesday soooooo....

Today I had fun on my alt, TPC_Megatrone in Race C all day from the back. There has been good races. My highest was 4th at this point. I almost had 3rd but I messed up braking T1 on the last lap. Since I’m on vacation from work (no, covid-19 is not stopping that). I’ll be racing more.

Other races I had fools like these. I have more coming lol.

This one left me alone after this payback:

Good evening friends. Tonight I entered the C race twice, both times from dead last. I utilized my A S account and dressed the Mustang up for the occasion in a stunning pink livery adorned with power puff girl decals for race one.
It looked glorious!
I was unable to get towards the front however due to a pack of cars fighting and traveling slowly because of that,
By the time I was able to get by them all cleanly there was little hope of improving my tenth place.
For my second entry I decided to change clothes into a beautiful gold wrap adorned with movie characters someone shared.
This was a clean race bonus!
I honestly dunno what to say except it was the most fun I’ve had in this game in a long long time...
I did battle with a highly skilled and clean Canadian who chose to pilot an Alfa Romeo.
It was a fantastic race in which we moved through the field together cleanly...
Whoever you are thanks man that’s the most fun I’ve had in gts in a long long time!

Looks like I got some more cars to try for race C. So far just been the Vette and the 4C. I think I have them all so will play around. I think if I hadn't been getting punted lap 1 so much the Vette would be ok until lap 9. I am on the only team listed as 100pct essential at my facility so still working full time while whole rest of country supposed to be in isolation. I don't think i am getting any extra time to improve my skills.:guilty: Hopefully racecraft improves, my speed improves or I will be grinding for my ovals trophy. Good luck to all.

Since beginning of week, I've had so much fun at Interlagos. I've tried Porsche, Ferrari and lately 4C after following great video guide from @Mistah_MCA

Yesterday evening, I set a good lap time of 1:38:5XX with the Mitsubishi (i believe i can improve it and get close to 1:38) and then done at least 4 races with the 4C. Yes, you get bullied a bit the first part of the race... but i tried to keep it consistent and then finished strong at the end while other drivers are struggling with tires (exceot 4C or Megane). Last race i finished 2nd trying to keep the pace with a fast Australian driver in his Megane.... I was able to maintain between 1:39:500 to 1:40:500 pace 75% of the race.

Yesterday day, some dirty moves yes, but overall very enjoyable week so far. Went from 27K to 34K so far. Improtant - Set a good qualifying time!

I might give it a go to the Toyota 86. I raced with couple of guys in their 86 and i couldn't keep up and catch them up. Might be another option! What would you use as Brake Balance for the Toyota for Interlagos?

Enjoy!

0 (stock) is what I like there. It can be a little loose in the back that way at first though...I noticed all the fastest drivers braking carefully each turn...
The 86 is very slow car, it’s trouble if you get in a fight and lose draft...
I think it’s very strong late in the race but honestly from what I’ve seen the little French car is quite good too.
People are fast in several cars that I’ve seen. Alfa evo Megane.

This needs to be sent to PD for them to explain why YOU got the penalty?

If ever a replay shows what is wrong with the current system, it's this!!!!

Just jumped onto race C in Alt to test the waters. Started P20. Had a fun race but dirty, one punted me off for no reason. Rejoined in 6th and chased them down to grab 2nd. Coulda had 1st if it weren’t for the punt.

Race 2. Lot of dirty and unaware drivers. Combine the two and you have chaos. Started P19 got knocked off track (race incident mutual fault) but came back for the win. Def would have been no point using my main.

Jumping into 3 now.
