I was so disappointed because the SF at that track made for absolutely great racing... when people were cool. As the game goes, that was some of the best. The first few days of it, before the hacks lucked into a decent qualifying time, were splendid. Frantic but clean starts, then the race strung out like a real race, when people settled into their natural pace, and you pretty much earned the finish you deserved. But as the week wore on, it became a showcase for how stupid the former penalty parameters were before the update, and the type of crap behavior of B/S lobbies has become known for.

But I got torpedoed by idiots over and over in the bus stop chicane, no matter how defensive I tried to be. And in Eau Rouge too often (it's not a passing zone, you morons... just get through it with a run and finish the job like a pro at the top of the hill... but: GT Sport online.)

I'd actually like to see it come up again some time later, but hopefully when I am racing with smarter cleaner people.

You pretty much can in all Gr 3 cars. Definitely trickier in some than others, but if you hit the line, you are good to go.

The chicane, I see too many people brake late there. Also its hard being defensive there when you’re slow through that area.

Also you sure can go full throttle and pass with no problem at eau rogue and radillion.

I post videos from time to time here, on GTS, and on youtube, you're welcome to judge. If I were racing above my abilities in an A+ room and getting run over then complaining about it, I'd understand. When guys drive right through me and others in the bus stop, including heading straight into the runoff after they have already hit me, I'm pretty sure it's not me that's the problem. If I breathe the throttle in Blanchimont to turn the car in so I can keep WOT on the apex, but a guy pushes me into the runoff, that's not me, it's the guy behind me. So I appreciate the offer to assess my own skills, but that's not the issue I'm referring to.

Show me guys racing in B lobbies in Gr3 cars (or the Supra RZ road car as spec'd in the daily race last week) that are going WOT without a lift in EauRouge/Radillon every lap in a race, and I'll buy you a new PS5 and the next GT game, if that represents the majority of racing in such lobbies. The guys who are placing in the Top 5 aren't lifting, I'd guess. And we weren't talking about the Supra, were we? I think there's a pretty big difference between that and a spec-built race car.

9 times out of ten, there is blame to be shared by both parties when something happens on the track. Don't just assume the other guy is a jerk. If you are slowing down, significantly more than the average, how is he to know that. Seriously man, people need to get off thier pedestal and admit they may have done something that helped cause the situation.

Take a look at my kudos if ya want, i know what i am talking about. Never hit back, and take almost all contact as an accident. It is rarely obvious that it was a pure, deliberate, takedown. Worry about what you can control, not the other drivers.

Track limits for the left hand side of Eau Rouge are very lenient. If you put your right side tires onto the left curb running into the section and then turn in so you just kiss the curb of Raidillon on the right you will be able to WOT in almost all Gr.3 cars on RH tires. Unless you are right behind a car in dirty air.

Starting on pole with TCS 1 - they start faster.
Starting without TCS and ~40% thottle - 4 guys pass me.

I am serious. I wanna see your actual race craft not just small clips. I should take you up on that ps5. Tempting.

I agree on this. I sometimes retaliated, but looking at replays I have realized that it's rarely so clean-cut. Either the one I thought was dirty missed his brake point, Iwas too slow or someone else instigated the action.
When I realized that I decided not to retaliate, because I rarely know for sure before it's too late to do it anyway.

I’m an A+ driver with a lot of experience starting in the back with no qualy time, and let me tell ya, it’s a full time job trying to predict what some of those guys in the backfield are going to do. You’d think they know that if someone caught them up by 2-3s per lap they probably wouldn’t be able to outbrake me without going off track. You’d think people know not to change lines dramatically under braking when someone is along side of them, you’d think they’d know a lot of things that they don’t seem to know or care about...but sooo many don’t.

I’ve been there. I’ve been the slower guy getting mauled by much faster drivers. I remember thinking that they were dive bombing me when all they were doing was outbraking me. I remember thinking they were all kinds of dirty simply because I couldn’t understand how they could place their car where they did before I could react. I’m not defending every pushy fast guy, because some of them aren’t nice, but usually there’s a world of difference in skill between the guys at the front and the guys at the back and it’s hard for the less-skilled guys to comprehend what’s really happening until they get significantly better.

Anything I want to share is public here and on youtube and on GTS, you are welcome to learn what you like.

That's good info and should help a lot of people. Of context: the first lap of a Daily Race: you ARE typically in dirty air, and what I saw in the SF race and other races here are that people will still get in under your bumper or inside your rear quarter and move you if not outright punt you.

That's nothing to do with my or any other victims' abilities or 'racecraft' and everything to do with the dirty BS that goes on in the GAME.

In practice, in those situations, it seems pretty reasonable to breathe the engine to set up the car, then got WOT up the hill, with as much of the right side curb as you can grab, to get to max speed by the top of the hill. And if I'm in front of someone, when I choose to do this, doesn't justify, by even 1%, being pushed into the penalty on the left side of the curbs or dumped at the top of the curves by someone who thinks differently.

1) Lap 1 issues are much more likely to be caused by cold tires than dirty air.
2) If you are getting pushed wide through this section then just back off and let the car which is stuffing it up the inside go wide because they compromised their line and pass them on the Kemmel straight.

9/10 it's not worth the fight through a tight section of the track if someone is being overly aggressive. Let them by and watch them screw up from their aggression and then capitalize on their mistakes.

I'm really intrigued by the DTS-II race... I don't think I have tried it other than a short private lobby when I first got the game, and it seems relatively straight-forward in a Gr4 car. Got my K' target times on the first two dailies already, and by now the lobbies are going to be full of people who luck into decent times at Suzuka (that are beyond their repeatable times and therefore lead to the mid-pack disasters for everyone), so after the FIA race tonight will probably focus on optimizing that one. It (like most of the other fictional tracks) is really a cool track design.

Used the WRX for a last good night blast. With respectful A/S players, I was able to move up from 12th to 5th.

That car is unbelievably smooth. Especially from the entry into the final chicane. It has a weird, new to me, off-throttle bite with grip. It's almost like a speed skater's skate, digging into the ice, around a turn.

Not one knucklehead and I didn't save the replay or a share pic. I went straight to bed.

By bus stop you mean the last chicane right?
I've learned from several people here to brake on the inside and then exit to the outside.
Before I used to go out to out but I was being overtaken.
Seriously this game needs mechanical damage.

Not sure why but having a lot of trouble with Spa this time around. My best times are with the Beetle and still not good enough, only managed a 2:19.816 qualifying lap. Feels fast when running, but not up to A level drivers. Funny thing is I'm running high 2:18s/low 2:19s in race. This is the first time that's ever happened to me, usually I struggle to hit my QT in the race (pretty common with most I would guess). With that said I'm getting podiums easily as the leaders are not matching their QT laps, guess it's actually better this way to help boost DR. Maybe I should just leave my QT where it's at and stick with running faster in race. Having good races for the most part, getting SR downs for silly things, but still at S so I'm happy.

Have been meaning to run a few at DTS, really like that track. Will have to refresh myself on the reverse layout before I dive in, but should be fun. Hopefully I can be somewhat competitive with an FR/MR car, not a fan of FF.

As a 'newby' who only got into sim racing in December, I have encountered (many times) the quicker and more highly skilled racer approaching me from behind. I've even had races when I was a beginner D, and been matched with A+ drivers in the odd race in hours when not many people were around.

In the vast majority of cases I will spot them coming up on me fast. I'm always looking in my rear-view, and usually let them through. The only times I won't is when there is traffic around me, when we are negotiating a very difficult part of the track, or if I just don't see them.

In the latter case, I ALWAYS try and maintain a predictable line. I'm smooth, if slow. The problem occurs (rarely) when the faster driver does not anticipate a slower driver like me braking earlier. They SHOULD be able to, I think. (Much slower driver = earlier braking). Occasionally (well, maybe a lot!) the slower driver will be erratic in the lines they take into a corner. That, too, from my perspective as a not-so-skilled, newly-minted B driver) should be seen as a possibility by an approaching, much faster, driver.

As I said earlier, I think that some, if not most, much slower drivers will yield to an obviously faster driver (I've been the beneficiary myself, and always congratulate the other guy post-race). And, I can see why faster drivers may get frustrated. It behooves all of us to look at things from others' perspectives occasionally when we are the 'victim' in an incident.

The best bet with this game is to just forget about DR and just go out there and race, you’ll have much more fun that way.

Thanks for sharing this. That way of thinking removes a lot of the extra stress during a race, but more importantly adds more fun to the game.

The Daily Race A at Suzuka is surprisingly fun... a little calamitous on the first lap but after that it's just a frantic sprint. Didn't expect to like that one when I saw the combinations this week. TT is a blast to drive that course. Very flexible.

Yesterday did like 4 race A, after a really bad QT, started mid pack but ended at the back each time. I had a hard time understating all the course, braking points and I was all over the place .

That was the first time using the TT (I’m new to GTS) but today was super fun, improved a little my QT and started in better positions, lost like 4 position or more in all previous races by my own mistakes but at the end I managed to get a win after focusing on my race and patiently waiting for others to make some mistakes.

Any advice to do next for someone is still learning, Race B or C?

Just received a 2 second penalty for someone side swiping me and taking me out haha. This penalty system is worthless when it doesn’t even know who to penalize. I’m not one to retaliate, but this is a game breaking issue and there is no way to implement something that is better besides adding damage and making it so a huge crash =DNF. The rammers have the ability to take over any race in which they fall behind or just plain get bored and want to cause chaos.

Freakin' last lap. Me and this Beetle passed a GT-R that was out of control. I got nervous because, I knew we had to get a move on as the GT-R has the top speed. I could see the time gap dropping by .3 damn near every second! As the video shows, it closes up as I'm ahving to tip toe. Exit of the final turn, daggone car parked right on the racing line! Finished .005 ahead.

Is there any way to simply vaporize TTs on sight in this game? Went for a race C, was tight and bumpy, but ok. However, I kept getting wedged in blocks of TTs. I would gain, only to find a TT unghosting on the racing line in the chicane. Or I am holding station behind a battling pair and the person behind goes for a silly dive at a bad spot or they bump.me in braking, sending me bouncing into the guys in front and back to them. Madness. More like the race A stuff. Anywho.

Sort of went ok until lap 6 when a guy took me feathering the throttle a the COMI as a sign of weakness. Dives to my left sending me into the wall on the right. Lovely. He did end up finishing last, I was only 2 up after that.

If you can hold well in the corners the WRX is a pretty good weapon. It gets rumbled a bit on the straights, but if you get a clear exit you can usually accelerate out better to stall the TTs slightly.

Edit: after a thought, I know people here who.race clean in the TT. It is the driver, not the car. But it sure seems to give a lot of people some extra confidence they don't need. 2 more races, 1 good, 1 bad, but both was punted off track lap 1 by an overeager Audi. Ugly race I was starting in p13 anyway, had a faster driver take a good.line inside on the last left hairpin, guy 0.5 back tries to follow as I leave room and barges straight into my fender and launches me off. I collect someone else bouncing back onto the track and get 3 seconds for it. Now dead last, 3 behind, and 3 sec penalty still to serve. And not the end of lap 1. It was a looooong race back there.

Full A/S room. All in the 19 second range, with the top two in the 17s. 20 seconds for me(Atenza qualy time). Gr.3 Hyundai was surprisingly good. Can't even remember when I used one. Maybe in 2018?

Race just started and this fool... you can see the near shunt of all shunts I was about to serve, but I wanted to see how the Genesis would finish.



Finished where I started. Had to slow down for a WRX crashing at the chicane and a TT wobbling at the exit of the chicane. Other than that, the TT ahead didn't leave me and the Pepe le'Pewgeot behind didn't catch me.
