I've been reading the controller scheme you guys use and haven't found one that does the same as me: throttle is right analog up, brake is down. Gear up is R2 and down L2. I've been using this scheme since GT5. I used to use X and [] on GT4 though. I find it good to modulate the inputs (within reason), because you can run the analog along the side of the circle, not exclusively up/down. It helps holding half throttle for example.
I used this for a long time too, but it doesn't allow you to use both brake & throttle at the same time. It took me about a month and a lot of offline laps to adapt to what I currently use, left stick to steer, L2/R2 for brake/throttle and X/[] for up/down shift.

Oh yes, I use it mainly because my R2 has sensitivity issues (goes only to 80%, the rubber pad is busted but I won't fix it because it's just unnecessary). Not being able to brake/accelerate at the same time is the main issue as you said, but it's something I got used to. I think your setup is the ideal, but I also quite like using R2/L2 for shifting, feels satisfactory.
 
I assume everyone knows this but its about the range to get the modulation. Motion control has to be almost the exact same as a wheel, and most won't see a huge advantage with a wheel, except maybe for endurance runs where you need to be consistent. Throttle and brake I would think is a huge one. The pedal travel distance you can get vs the controller trigger travel. I'm guessing there's a 70% improvement from X/O to trigger, then like a 30% improvement from trigger to pedals. Anyone running controller to steer with pedals, or is that even possible?

Whatever you like really. No stop is quite hard at times ad you have to really manage it all the way around the track and slipstream everything you can. All out is fun, but can drop you back in behind traffic. Pick your battles, but a no stopper really has to be run from the start, not really any changing during the race.

P3 was out of boost and P4 wasn't showing any patience at all. Tried to gom into a gap that wasnt there and the wall stopped the car. P2 spun somewhere and that left me in P3. P2 got a penalty. The leader was 12 seconds ahead and That vanished after the leader crashed.

You don't exactly save boost, but you generate more than by normal driving. You need to lift a little earlier for corners before braking to get some coasting time which lets it generate more. Also coasting through turns instead of feathering throttle. Move the brake bias to the rear as well. I think there is a other trick as well, but those are the only 2 I know.

It does work as last night I kept closing in on people to draft down the main straight as I had extra boost coming out of that final turn when they were out so I could get close enough to get sucked up to them.
 
I've been doing a splash and dash for race c in the last few laps, the no stopper is possible but requires some serious short shifting and coasting to pull off.

I'm finding that a lot of people are running out of hybrid before me for some reason as well, I'm not finding any problems maintaining enough battery at any point in the race personally.

If you qualify in the front you can choose either strategy, but I've had good results really exploiting the no stop by holding people up as they try to pass. You really need to be able to go full speed almost all the time to make the pit stop worthwhile and there's only really two places on the lap where defending a pass is completely impossible.

After doing race A at Goodwood to death I've been doing a fair bit of race B at Dragon Trail today and I managed to get my qualifying time down to 1:31.911 in the AMG which isn't too bad.

It's a bit of a ram fest, though. Too many times I've been rammed at ridiculous speeds going in to the hairpins from people getting upset about being overtaken, even at the highest levels for SR. I'm starting to think I need to get at least in to the A level for DR to start to avoid these idiots as there seems to be loads in B. It takes me a ridiculous amount of practice just to stand still though, let alone improve.

I have seen a few people win with the no stopper, but it does depend on the race as well. I have been using the no stopper mainly to recover from getting caught in brutal carnage mistakes lap 1. The time difference usually helps me make up for most of the lost time without having to actually fight past people.

:eek: Right analog for throttle & brake. I've tried it for a hot minute. Brain couldn't adjust. Went back to buttons. :lol:

I use the left analog stick to steer while using the right to shift then triggers R2/L2 for gas/brake. I can't even grasp using buttons!

Right stick for shifting gears?!?!?

Tried our the Lexus GT3 for another daily race B, and wow it is not great at all on cold/dirty tires. Bounced back from a two-into-one that doesn't mix on Lap two. Then the battle in front of me went south and back to P2. I gotta get used to loose back ended cars on this course.
 
Does anyone know the difference between the TS050 and R18 '16s lap times? I always struggle with the Audi's hybrid and the way it kicks in so I've been using the Toyota's easier system. Got a 27.2 (.4 off optimal) but I'm getting pretty close to my limit in that car and have nobody to compare to. Everyone's qualifying in the Audi.:crazy:

I don't want to learn the Audi but if it's a fair bit quicker than the Toyota, I guess I might have to.
 
Spinning in a race will occur to everyone, but it's still so frustrating. Especially in Race C this week. Once you scrub a bit extra out of the tires from a spin, you're race is going to be a bad time. Though, a solid top 10 (8th) is always welcoming.

It doesn't get much better until you're well into A, about 40k DR from my own experience.

The folks fighting to stay in A and the folks fighting to get into A on the cutline at 30k DR will do just about anything to make a pass or retaliate. Once you get past that point it seems like people have greater respect for fellow racers.
 
The worst rooms to be in are on the cut line from B to A rank those guys are nuts. B drivers fighting to reach A meanwhile A drivers doing everything in their power not to fall back to B. Gets pretty crazy out there you better be starting up front! Get a great qualifying time and be consistent with that time.

Once you get a good foothold on A rank lobbies get much better, cleaner and you can actually start applying some of that race craft you've learned and have some fun with it.



How my daily races went yesterday about 5-6 races finish top 2-3 every race then get a disconnect and there goes the momentum back to where I started 3 hours ago.

I initially tanked my DR/SR rating the first day on Daily Race B this week [B/S to C/E] but things are looking up. Crept back up to B/S and racing with some A, A+ and S folks [My Kudosprime DR graph looks hilarious -- massively steep drops and climbs -- badly inconsistent). But the cut-line A vs. B rooms so far have been great. Very little shenanigans, very professional compared to straight B and C for sure.
