Moral of the story is never retaliate:
SR Down.jpg

Then in next race trying to recover some lost SR, on lap 11 my T150 Power pack dies and wheel disconnects and I go flying in to the wall and end of front straight. Had to use controller to get around in 2nd for rest of the race because it isn't mapped for gear changes, and I haven't raced with a controller on GT Sport ever. Got back 29 SR :)

A few laps on the Sardegna and BH GP quali events.. The Citroen Racecar is smooth and consistent at Sardegna 👍

Will defo go back to Sardegna and try some other cars.. Have fun guys!

Is it possible to map Overtake to the clutch pedal?
No unfortunately.

Man, it’s always the same trap, isn’t it?! Run a race on the Alt, get an easy podium, after a decent qualifying time, and the 500 DR that go with it… then flip to the Main account, only to get shoved about and bin it yourself to lose DR and SR! “It’s a trap!”

those MR2 are finicky little cars at the limit! @Dairyworker knows what I mean! And I don’t know what Surtees ever did to have such a godforsaken corner named for him, but is that ever a test of patience! Waiting forever, caught between the two gears, and counting on that Toyota to lug it up the hill afterward when you nail it... challenging!

So, after an absolute wreck in race C last week, I have to give kudos to PD for this week's race C. I had assumed it would be another festival of carnage but it's actually a massively enjoyable, mostly clean experience. I've now raced 4 times in A and B SR lobbies and only been the victim of filth once. I don't know if it's happening in the higher rated lobbies, but T1 is saved from being a disaster by some pretty aggressive ghosting. By the time you're through T3 the field has generally settled and the racing is good. I have managed to rebuild my SR to S and I expect I am going to be spending most of my time in this race this week.

Racing C from the back on the alt. Trying to build some SR back too...worth the watch just for the first lap

Edit: race 1 down. These fast cars highlight braking point differences. Need to be more careful in this next one. Red SR because I kept accidentally tapping and pushing in braking zones.

I thought that when I used the DS4. But on a wheel....

Every. Damn. Time.

Never have done Sardegna before, and my GOD!! What a piece of crap track. No flow whatsoever. Think I'm gonna see what race A is about, and then maybe click off more of the driving missions I have neglected for months. Sheesh

Really?? I think just like the CII track we ran 2 weeks ago it runs very smooth and I think I am going to break out my F-type or Jag for some fun.

Those cars make me nervous. :scared:

Yep, hit the gas and hang on for your dear life.

What I find challenging with the super formulas and similar cars is there's no way to go fast other than to just attack the track all out. You can go slow and steady and everything will be fine or you can go full tilt and it sticks to the track because of all the aero, but there's a vast gulf between those two speeds where it's really hard to drive because you're going too fast for the rubber to keep you on the track by itself but too slow for the aero to kick in and give you the grip back.

Even with high-aero GT cars like Gr3 there's room to gradually build your speed up because they're not 100% reliant on aero for grip, so you can keep it on the track while pushing a little more each lap until you find your limit.

It certainly has potential. But my only experience so far was a fantastic charge from 14th on the starting grid, to 6th on lap 1, avoiding the carnage like a pro, only to be hit by an idiot from Brazil who blew T1 on lap 2, only to careen back onto the racing line from way off the run-off area, punting me into the infield and last place. That's why I race the Dailies on an Alt... but doesn't make it any less frustrating. I was really proud of myself having made up 8 spots on one lap, cleanly, only to have that happen. Managed to climb back up to 13th from more than 5 sec back from anyone in the race, but sheesh, it's infuriating. The Brazilian style of driving over the limit every turn, so that you are at top-ranked pace for half the laps, but taking people off the track on the other laps, is so impossibly frustrating to race with.

100%... you nailed it! Gr2, Gr1, and especially these Formula cars and the RB cars... it's a different skill set. Even the RBJr cars result in this, though at much less volatile and violent dynamics. They certainly separate the best.

The effective K' speed score gaps for those formulae definitely prove it, too. While I am typically within 2% of the Gr4 cars, I'm working hard to get within double that on the SF cars. The edge is much harder to find, and much more challenging to live on, than wringing out speed from the essentially docile Gr3 cars.

This is why racing from the back has been difficult in these higher downforce cars. I kept hitting people after leaving miles of space last night because they aren't trusting the aero. The difference in speed is maybe 25-30% in some of these corners. I ended up qualifying and that was much more fun (and I'm finally gaining some SR back).

Why I race on Dailies with an Alt: 14th on grid, perfect start, up to 6th within first lap, all clean and well-played, then taken out by a moron on T1 on Lap 2, race over. SR down. DR flushed. So tiring. And this was my first foray into this race this week... which I think from my part, I really did well in what might have been the top lobby in that slot. But of course, our competition has more influence on our DR/SR than we control it, in this game.

Pity, because this combo is really pretty fun... and despite my deficiencies in both the SF cars and at this track in particular, I was enjoying the battles.

(Also: I realized I never mapped the Overtake button on my Alt account configuration... kept hitting it and all the other secondary buttons hoping to find it... left me helpless the rest of the race, and maybe on that first lap on the main straight... will have to fix that. Cost me a few positions here, I think.)

First go at Red Bull Ring went better than expected. I started P13 in a B/S lobby and I went into this race with the attitude that I've got DR to burn, so I was quite surprised to find myself P8 by the second sector. First lap people were pretty aggressive so I gave away a few positions to save my race.

I started on the hards and I stayed on them until lap 10, and I had no issues keeping up. I was P6 when I pitted and came out into P10, after that I chased down the guy in P9 and overtook him comfortably on the s/f straight on lap 14 for a P9 finish. :)

You're not wrong. I did some qualifying laps last night after making some liveries, so I was on the DS4. Every time I tried to enter turn one, I slowed down way too much & was parked right on the apex. When I get on the wheel, I should be able to fix that. It's also no fair of PD to give us a Gr. 3 & SF race in the same week. It's like asking us to pick a favorite child.

Not having much fun with Race C. Was really looking forward to trying it out but in the last few races I've done....people have just been jumping the start and crashing into me and then I get a 2 second penalty for colliding with another car and gwe didn't even have the green light...like what???....I've done 7 races so far and got that penalty on 5 of them (started B/S and now B/B) . Maybe it's just not my day, plus it feels like I've got no pace at all :indiff:

Go to this site and search your name in top right. when it brings up your details there are 2 coloured arrows pointing down, click on them and select "Latest Races".

I had visited that page regularly and could not tease out that info. Those arrows were certainly subtle. Many Thanks. I have a lot of knowledge gaps and am still drinking from the fire hose.

Been having a real mixed bag at race C now. Was ok the first night, all my own mistakes.

Last night, nope. First race I had zero warm up laps so just hamstrung myself with the mysterious track limits. Turn 1 can be a guessing game and in Schloss I find I sometimes get a penalty even with 2 wheels on the black. Not sure really, but not overall terrible.

Next race, solid start, slip through turn 1 with minor bumping, but no penalty, up from p12 to p6 with a massive run on p5, who promptly ran me off track in the braking zone to remus. Very deliberate. Get going again and immediately get punted off by 2 guys killing each other into the downhill right. And pushed wide at Rindt by a massive dive bomber going flat who didnt even make the corner. Then get a track limits for that and for losing my cool and running wide turn 1.

Always a challenge to get to the first penalty zone lap 2 and be 26 seconds off the lead already.:scared:

I was too ruined after that. Drove terrible but didnt get lapped, which was something with 2 of the top 10 in that field. Next race was all smooth again.

Time to roll the dice some today. And yeah, I like those cars, but with the Thunderdome's very strange track limits and the need to push so much it seems to be really all or nothing.

EDIT: think I got a move for moron of the day! Came out of the pits in race C slamming OT but not going anywhere and slowing down. Yeah, so that was the brake I was holding, not OT.:banghead::banghead::lol:

Mayhem being the correct word for sure. Honestly these last few months/year people are driving like such bastards. People pushing u off track and and when you're coming get past side ramming u cos they don't want to lose the position, all kinds of lame ****. If a car has a ran on u and the line then thu have right of way, so desperate when ppl ram. If it's me I let the car go and be like ok let's battle hard and fair not push u off like a scared whimp, it's soooo annoying.

Penalty system is just off its face, drunk on vodka or something either way it doesn't know what it's doing. Cars ghosting reappearing pentalty for that wheknot clearly isn't your fault. Even penalties when a car has rammed you so had enough of it.

This weekend races, I like them all (even though RBR isn't my track) but the just encourage bumps and accidents. Gr3 and that right and twisty track? Ok, but touches bumps are inevitable but then the penalties are too harsh, like massive sr drops and 3 secs just for a nudge when both cars still even made the apex and np. Then some bozo will torpedo you into a gravel travel trap he gets away with and most likely u get the penalty it's just so backward.

Race C good idea only done 2 races so far with no Q (I enjoy coming through the pack) I got 2nd from 17th. The 2nd race was just like WW3, it's like PD want us to lose our SR... or us for not to have any contact at all which I sure try but others? Ha. And if they wanted why not Nurburgring to coincide with F1? But no, no logic from PD.

Once again, no out of the box thinking either he weeklies. And why 2 mandatory tyres? The hard stuff can do the duration, 15 laps isn't enough really.

So yeah feeling pretty dissapionted with sport mode lately

It's how high downforce cars work.

What made me realise this, was in Gran Turismo 2. There is a test with the TS020. It instructs players to do as fast as possible through some ess turns. Can't remember which section of what circuit.
Players have to go fast. Can't gradually go through the turn, as the front won't plant. Going faster actually makes it smoother. Cool stuff.
