Man I had a fun night until that last race. The system decided to destroy me.
I’ve never had this happen before when I never got mad and shoved guys off or whatever. First time across accounts 99S to B sr in a single race. I literally just watched the replay and thought wow. I could see 99 to 85 or maybe 80 but omg what a ridiculous joke.
Never put a car off. Never really affected another car too badly.
I knew I shouldn’t do that “one more race”
Racing from the back killed me.
I dunno if I am even going to build it back or not.
It’s annoying. NOWAY was that deserved NOWAY.
It does go to show what a terrible idea it can be to race from last without qualifying
Dang it one bad race...-49 sr.
Sometimes I dunno why I bother. This is why I haven’t run main in months and have no plans to anytime soon.
This is an outrage lol.

No offence taken.. Any tips are helpful. I did a 131.7 today but still a bit tentative. I only picked up the MOTUL an hour before my first race yesterday, but I do circuits on DragonTrail lots with the Gr3 Porsche 911. It is the only car I can drive comfortably at 0 traction and no other assists. I had the Motul at T2. With all the turns at DragonTrail being right the Motul wants to oversteer bad if I don't accelerate smooth so I thought for races I would go T2 so I don't wreck other people.

Where I am losing time is the chicane exit and stretch after that and I don't accelerate quick enough out of the horseshoe turn, but I am getting better. I am also old and driving Automatic, so I am never going to be good. I do work on driving lines and watch vidoes and stuff but my main goal is to (1) have fun, (2) give way to other drivers, (3) and not wreck anyone. Everyone has different goals but for me I just want to race in races where I won't mess up. My fav track is Maggorie and I like the Gr3 911 there and the Hyndai Genesis.

One thing I need/want to fix is the DragonTrail chicane. I am not sure if it is me or the car but in lobby races I can keep within 2 seconds a lap of most people but they are going full speed through that chicane and I can't manage it. The Motul is actually easier to drive through the chicane than the 911. Maybe I will try the Audi R8 LM6. I may be able to exit the chicane at a higher speed.

Thanks Little Guppy, GroundFish, NoStopN, Pigems and Racing Grandpa for the tips.

Stick with the 2016 cars, gtr and Lexus.

Absolutely need to use tc, I use 2, as do others here. Ultimately it is faster with no tc but you need to be a top class driver to see the benefit.

As for being old and using auto, I use auto and even use the old school x for gas and square for brake and the arrow buttons to steer. I am no demon but have had many a race in this game that was epic.

Around here, a qualy lap of about 130 would suggest you can run with guys SRA and DRC so that should provide good racing.

I hit 130.506 in qualifying tonight!!

As for what I called the horseshoe, it is the double right before you head up hill on the winding straightaway. The turn in is ok at full speed and I have my braking spot, but on accelerating out I am still gun shy about accelerating aggressively. Worried about going through the turn on the left or spinning out and oversteering into the wall on the right. I just need more reps to become more aggressive.

On the right turn before the chicane I hear what you are saying. I think I do that well but some cars come roaring down on the inside and take that turn like they have steel cleats on...lol

On the last righthand turn of the track, I am good on that one. Some crazy combo of brake/accel, brake/accel and diving in allow me to get tight and come out of that with speed.

Ok, my tip for that section is that I brake just at the start of the green astroturf on the left but I lift off the brake earlier than I think I need to and balance the throttle to help rotate the car. This lets me hit full throttle in a straight line to the outside kerb and avoids the back getting squirrelly. It also helps if you short shift to 3rd, but that’s not an option in auto. Too many guys brake too late for that corner and lose a chunk of time through the next sector as a result (or worse, force others off because they can’t stop on the apex).

Another small tip in the Group 2 cars is that they have terrible turbo lag, so it pays to keep the throttle on just a little bit in slow corners to avoid losing the boost.

Where are all the 08's in Daily C? Man, sheeple are so boring.
Here!

I am undoubtedly quicker with the '16 cars but enjoyed battling with the '08 Peteonas Lexus and Xanavi Nismo (actually quite competative).

The Epson NSX is a disaster as after a few laps and tyre wear comes in.

Iam surprised with how little '16 au Lexus there are, I prefer it over the Motul GTR which at times feels like a one make race!

I ran 2 CRB on A to get back up then a C for DR. 1k, even though I hit the COD on 12 lap. I missed the dirty air from the ghosted driver I lapped. I wish you would just move out of the way when being lapped. Hang on the race line is fine everywhere someone vcan pass but pushing as hard as possible when going through the COD is pointless in my book.

Edit: not blaming the one lapped, it's still my responsibility.

Are we really doing the whole aids thing again? I'm also not sure why on earth anyone would want to remove cones, I used to only keep cones on back when I used pad, and I did the whole 'reeee aids are bad' thing and tried to switch to manual, no TCS, etc etc.
Would like to know why people turn off cones, racing line, apex markers. The more information I can get on track, the better. With cones, I don't have to look at a stupid seagull flying in the sky or a cloud to find my brake marker, and it's really easy to measure distances. I can go for a, say 'brake halfway between the double cone and the apex cone' plus it takes way too long to learn the track without cones. Once I've done 2-3 races, I get the braking points in my muscle memory anyways so there's no use in saying 'but what if someone knocks over the cones?' and I also don't exclusively rely on them to brake, I'm not that slow.
The apex markers are honestly useless but are helpful in some cases like the braking zone before the last two or three corners when you exit from a long right hander.
Racing line is again useless but is sometimes good to just have as a reference to where you are on track sometimes.
Oh yeah and I use TCS2 for pretty much everything because I'm just not good at controlling slides.

Oh btw here's a fun one. Esteban Ocon's kudosprime.

From BasicOllie's video, saw @DeadEyeDelboy in that race too.
Ocon got a 28.6 at Interlagos and a 28.5 at RBR.

I'm getting hang of the Fugu Z and the bmb track. Got 2 victories and couple of podiums this morning.
But!
But i'm racing with idiots! People trying to kill each other on bmb. Can't concentrate on the racing line coz always an eye must be on the radar.

There are plenty of brake markers without looking for seagulls. Most of the time it's where the curb ends or begins.
Cones can be knocked out yes. The big problem with that isn't the lack of s come but a cone laing in the road can launch your car.
But there is nothing wrong with have the cones on as an extra aid while learning the track. Until you enter a lobby where every track aid is banned.
I learned the hard way by entering s lobby of Nordschleife where cones, corner markers and driving line was prohibited.

Race B is block city. Every straight and barely a straight, block!. Flinch the car left or right, BLOCK!. Sneeze. BLOCK! Say, "Hi.", BLOCKED!. Ridiculous the RSRs and R8s just block each other so noone with any other type of car can pass.

Personally I find the driving line and apex markers a bit distracting whilst racing but that's more of a personal thing for me on all racing games. Cones are useful but can be taken out. Normally I don't have issues finding markers as you can literally use anything on or around the track.
Either way at the end of the day, you are free to enjoy the game however you want so use whatever assists you like

Greatest achievement on Race C today....

Iam low B DR rating and managed to come second with the 08' PETRONAS TOMS SC430..... only beaten by what is called on here an 'alien'.

Decided to keep TC at 2 this time, as I had tried the TOMS before and lost control twice. I began the race in 2nd and managed to keep ahead on hards until I pitted. Very difficult keeping the MOTUL GTR's at bay though!

Very difficult keeping the MOTUL GTR's at bay though!

It is. I ran only 2 races last night. The first, I was able to close the gap on numerous people. I shouldn't brag. I got my DR reset a couple of weeks ago & have been pissed off ever since. That was a D/E room. And after that 2nd place to DFL to 4th place finish, I got put into the C/C room where I picked up the win. The guy who finished 2nd had to be not serious about the game. He has been on twice as long, has a DR/SR profile like a roller coaster, & we swapped the FL the whole race.

The dirty drivers have worked out the loopholes in Race C. I’ve had several penalties tonight from players deliberately steering into me in a turn and triggering a penalty. I had one idiot do it 3 times in a single race and when I watched the replay he did it to everyone he was close to entering a corner.

It’s infuriating that the penalty system can be manipulated so easily by people who have no interest in clean driving.

Daily Race C was just something for me today like it came down to the wire.

So I did the tire strat where I start off first with the hards (went 3 laps on this) then go mediums all the way through the end because the tire wear wasn't that bad so I gone through that strat. Then all of the sudden the guy who was in first bottled it and it allowed me to take the lead and from there the GTR dude just pressured me all the way until the last lap where I bottled the corner before going to the chicane. There I thought my chance of winning my first Gr.2 race was over but then going to the chicane it seems that the dude either didn't go flat out through the chicane or he must've hit the wall after exiting the chicane and for me I just gone flat out through the chicane until I managed to catch up again and eventually overtaking the GTR in the last corner to get my first Gr.2 Sport Mode win.

There were some parts where I hit the dude unintentionally and I apologized in the end and he didn't mind it.

I don't know what surprised me most last night - 2nd ever Gr.2 win, or a dirty driver receiving a fair penalty.

I started on pole, on hard tyres, then ended up 4th after a poor few corners but then kept reasonable pace to the leaders (about 4 seconds off 1st) Pitted on lap 8 for mediums and managed to close in quickly - mainly down to not over thinking the C. O. D. and just flying through it. I was on the leaders bumper for the last 3 laps - he was sort of clean and sort of dirty, with a lot of swerving under braking until he finally outbraked himself allowing me to get inside before the death chicane on the last lap.

He made a lunge in the last corner and knocked me across the kerb, allowing him to cross the line first, but got a 2 second penalty for his maneuver. I was pleased! I guess I left the door open a bit, but was expecting to be rear ended, so left a bit of space to cut back inside.

Well, last night I was forced to qualify on C race. 2 races and back to S but only barely.
Lots of fun last night until the game decided I was Satan that one race. Looking on replay I encountered two players at A S that did me up with the micro rub while I was passing, and also braking and slowing too much on entry apex until I tapped them. Sr down. Penalty. These guys know how to game it.
That accounted for 60 percent of my SR loss.
I like the race though, it’s fun. I think though now, players are starting the swerving to block under braking and a few have learned that if someone’s outbraking all they need to do is barely rub boom could be two seconds.
Better to qualify.
I have to say by far the worst players on NA are these players at 30-35k 99.
They are horrible. The only way around dealing with them is getting and staying ahead. Way ahead. There’s a specific squad of regulars that make their living on gaming the pens diving swerve blocking etc etc etc.

I use all of the aids.

Cones = Braking reference point. They're usually a good start, and while I do pick another reference point just in case, I like the precision/visibility of the cones.

Drive Line = I don't always follow it, but it's another reference point on the track. At Fuji, for example, the right hander after the chicane I know that the turn in for the fast line is actually past the driving line. I'm least dependent on this of all the aids, though.

Blue floaty bois = turn in and apex.

Can I drive without them? Sure. I did a SNAIL event a few weeks ago where all the of the aids were turned off. I did well. But, since I'm allowed to have them, I use them when I can. Why not?

I don't think turning them off would make me any faster or more of a competitor on the track.

@RacingGrandpa @Groundfish @NevilleNobody Well yeah, that's what I said, you get the 'muscle memory' after doing a few races so why wouldn't you have them on? It's better to take advantage of them when you can, I have exclusively relied on cones on some corners, but on corners where other braking points like distance markers, ends of kerbs etc are better, I use those.
It's all for fun though, I personally feel like cones help a lot but if you guys don't use them, that's cool too.

The other thing is I tried A race but wow people are fast. Once it goes above n200 I’m pretty useless.

Edit also the newer GTR is far superior to the other cars on C. I ran it first time this week to qualify. It’s waaay faster on the hard tire, the cockpit looks and sounds amazing, great car. Head and shoulders above the Lexus and Xanavi.
Edit 2
I use cones line markers until I am satisfied I know the track. That’s usually a looong time before I really know it
