To each their own.
I prefer one make races, that way when it’s over, I know that there’s only one reason why the guys ahead beat me, and it has nothing to do with the cars. I don’t care if it’s a field full of shopping carts, I just wanna win.
I did a bunch of laps this morning in all 3 of the race A Nissans.
BMB Infield is a nice track. No track limit worries. Usually, there are plenty of SR penalties at that track, though.
The Fugu and the '89 are both really squirrely. The '07 is by far the most comfortable one for me to drive.
I realize that the Fugu has the best speed potential, but the SH tires make it quite a handful.
When I start racing, I will definitely go with the '07. I'll be less likely to crash with it.
The Weak slipstream should even things out.
If you haven't already done so the try moving the BB back to 3-4, it makes it much more stable and predictable. If it's too stable toucan move it forward in increments to find your best setting
Had another go late last night, this time in the Jag F-Type. Using the qually lap time I'd run earlier, I was 14th on grid. Kept everything clean and tidy and managed to take 10th place. DR dropped a little (the logarithms said I should be 8th...?) but SR back up to 99 and now on 2 clean races. Want to keep working on this race and keep things clean. Really enjoying this track and this race in general. Will be trying out the Aston Martin tonight, maybe jump in the Audi as well...
Wait, WTF? Never thought I'd see another Indian over here!I often think "What is more satisfying? A victory, or a redemption drive?" After my last race, my answer is the latter. Here's why -
Race C. 18th on the grid in the Motul GT-R with Hard tires and TCS1. At the start auto drive cuts off right in the middle of the last corner, and despite being cautious I go a bit too hard on the throttle and I spin. 4 seconds into the race and I have spun out and dropped 2 positions to dead last. I see opportunity
From dead last, I run 3 laps on hards with no traffic, make a stop and switch to mediums with a plan to stop once more. The next 4 laps I am all alone which allows me to go as fast as I can and catch up with the crowd in the front. I gain positions due to others pitting, crashing out at COD, etc. Lap 10 I am running 11th, and have to decide if I pit again or go till the end. I decide not to pit and pull through till the end. BB is moved to the rear and off we go for the final 3 laps.
I lose a few spots to faster drivers on fresher tires, so I don't fight them and let them by. By Lap 12, the gap to the car behind is over 11 seconds, so I see no risk in continuing on the old mediums. I nurse the car home to finish 13th. Redemption!
Not sure why some needs to do two stops, mediums last 8 >10 laps without a problem, and you only lose +1sec or less on hards, while pitloss is about 8-9secs,
you can take COD flat out on mediums and hards once I have a gap of about 2 or 3 sec to the car behind and late in the race i am a little cautious but with fresh tires its flat out..Are you taking COD flat out? Is it possible with the GR2 cars? I lift before entering and get onto power after the first apex.
For strategy, slower tire first is my preferred option most of the times.

You can take the COD 'flat out', though you have to hit it perfectly to truly not lift at all. If you enter that section at the right speed, you should be hitting an upshift just as you touch the right side curb after the first turn into that section... upshift as you touch the first part of the curb and turn in to the left to approach the exit, aiming the car at the inside along the wall corner on the left, while looking at the exit corner on the right side (I find it best to look at the bottom of the wall and curbs, not he wall, as they blend in)... when you shift, it's virtually a little 'lift' on the throttle, just enough to help the car rotate to the trajectory you want on the exit.Are you taking COD flat out? During the race, this is a great point. I also make sure that I get thru clean in the race, there's no point in boasting about being flat out when you hit it one time out of 13 and lost four positions for it, what's there to brag about?! I'm happier with a drive from 8th to 3rd, with a clean race bonus and not a scratch on the Nissan at the end, than I am if I could manage to get thru the COD flat every lap. In said example, I had a 5 sec lead over 4th heading into the last lap, and man, is it a nice feeling when you can just coast the last lap and not worry about things like messing up the COD or over-shooting the hard right hander at the end of Sector 2... just bring it home safely after a smart drive.
Well I can do it and I'm slower than you, but it all depends on the speed your going into it and the angles you hit. I need to be just about perfect for me to even go for it in quali and even then I still muck up about 50% of the time, true mostly just skiffing a wall and not losing much more than lifting. I'd say it's 30% skill 30% nerves and 40% sheer luck to make it as being the slightest bit out and your car can go off unpredictably due to the curbs.
