Damn this Prius seasonal event is a pain in the behind

Did it with sports soft and air filter + catal. converter
Had it on a second try, but comfortably.
A little too comfortably, wish there were better guidelines!
But I'm already happy this is being discussed so I had a little idea what to tune or not.

Did it in my pink Prius thats fully tuned up (and that I take online to make people ROFL, works a treat) and won it without a hitch. Great.

assuming just had your new Prius - an oil change + sports soft tyre will do you good for this event

This event is easy just buy racing hard, and racing ecu and catalitic converter and you have an EASY win, just remember lift off the throttle and glide down the back section down the hill, it recharges your batteries.

This is an electric car right? SO how come we can put catalytic converters, exhaust pipes, etc on it? Surely an electric car doesn't have these?

Add some power - you don't have to do all the power-adding mods - and CUT THE WEIGHT. Put on soft racing tires ($36,000).

I'm a hack as a driver, and I had first place on the second lap, and never looked back. Slicks, minimum weight, and about 120hp will do it. I didn't even touch any of the adjustments, nor did I do any adjustable suspension, trans, etc. Get in, get out, and win quick. And make more money than you spend on that POS car. :)

I'm a pretty good driver and I couldn't win without the soft racing tires.

ya, i just made the mistake of getting all the engine upgrades...this dang event cost me around 50,000 and i'm still going nowhere, i'm just going to get the soft tires and see if that does the trick.

my prius is tuned to the max, and i still cant win. I can't hardly EVER get the RPMs above 3,000. What is the trick???

Keeping momentum. And there's no reason to max tune that brick of poo.
Just go trough the corners as fast as possible. Get on the throttle as early as possible.

I'm an awful driver (managed only 6 golds in all the license tests), but I found this really easy and did it on my second go on sports tyres by quite a margin. I think the key is to find a good racing line and keep the revs up - you hardly have to brake as the relative speeds are quite low.

Like everyone else has said (and I know it can become a pain in the rear end) dont brake so much into the corners and keep the speed up as much as possible.:)

I mean what's the trick to keeping the revs up? I can't get them up until halfway through the track, by then I'm way behind, then I do get them up, and the next time I let off the gas, I'm back down to 3000 rpm??

I tuned it to the max and won by like 35 seconds ...

Most corners (everything that isn't a hairpin), you don't need to brake for if you having Soft Racing Tires and get the right angle ...

Turn traction control off since you REALLY don't need it with the Prius and it just reduces the amount of power hitting the pavement ...

I found that the best route to go for this event is a conservative tune (No need for maxing it out), sports soft tires, and smooth racing lines. The tires will do most of the work for the car, and in my opinion, Sports Soft will do the car just fine, there's no need to shell out more for racing slicks.

yeah, i noticed that, i had trouble doing that event too. thankfully, though, an oil change, sports soft, and a couple weight reduction upgrades had me win :)
