I'm trying to stay positive, but it's not easy. Here's my thoughts...

1. I'm a part time racer, maybe 5 hours a week I can devote to this game.
2. I'm an "average driver" not nearly as good as you all, but I have got all 27 stars in the super S in career mode, so I'm not terrible.
3. I've noticed a hardness progression starting maybe 2 years ago or so, meaning, it's getting harder and harder to get gold on the time trials and seasonals.
4. I don't like them forcing any option on or off, would prefer to make our own choices in our own game.
5. This particular challenge is way too difficult in my opinion. How can I hold the 24 minutes of Le Mans, but get beat by over a minute in both my attempts here?
6. I used to enjoy this game a lot more before they ramped up the hardness.
7. My thoughts are... Why not make it obtainable for part time racers like me? If the great drivers are thinking it too easy, aren't there over 500 cars and millions of ways to set up those cars to make this and whatever challenge as hard or easy as you want it?

Sorry for the rant, but I'm frustrated, and would like more than 8 thousand credits for getting a hand cramp after 2 tries and 50 minutes of racing :(

Edit: went a third time with the Audi R8 race car, got 6th, 39 seconds behind the leader, but did take two pit stops, not sure how you all do it in one, but if I can figure that out, it might be pretty close.

I really just think with all the options available to us in this game, it's a shame to tweak it to one set of drivers, I think if they let us use these options to the fullest, everyone would be happy.[/, it's an an impossible feat for me
you and I are in the same boat here. I've always hated Daytona's road course, but with cars set up the way they are with tires nearly gone after a couple of laps or with no grip at all, it's an impossible feat for me no matter what car I use. I can play maybe 4-5 hours a week & I simply don't have the skill required to breeze through this.

And the Audi R10 as well. Which makes you realise straight away how messed up all the relative car speeds are because the Pescarolo Hybrid is miles quicker than the R10 despite the R10 being quicker in real life.

Would be interesting to rank the Le Mans cars slowest to fastest on the game and real life and see how they compare. Would be good to throw in a laptime as well to see how close they are that way. Like I reckon the R18 is too slow compared to real life and the 787B is far too quick.
I have looked into this and my observation (not scientific fact) is that the Asia Pacific LeMans cars are faster in the game than in real life.

I'm a part-time gamer as well, I have a job, a wifey and a baby girl to take care of. I too only have 4 hours a week to play GT6, I just happened to spent all 4 hours into this event yesterday and won after 550km. I'm no expert since I use aids(TCS, ABS) all the time, so you should be able to win it too.

Yeah there's definitely a Japanese bias in the game in regards to racing cars. Like the Minolta Toyota as far as I know was a nothing car compared to the likes of the Porsche 962, Sauber C9 and Jaguar XJR-9 but it's amazing on this game.

I did it with the TS030 Hybrid!
I did one stop (RH/RH) and about 1:37 every lap (a couple of 36 and 38). I won by 4 seconds against the R8, but i did the 16th lap while the others didn't. If the C60 would had a perfect race i don't think that i could beat Mr. Besson. image.jpg

Stock power in the TS030 is my favorite to drive here. R18 is fun too. Just stick to your race and it all falls in place.

I was driving the R10 and went to read the info on it. Power band between 3000 and 5000 rpm. 867.9 ft/lb at 3,500 rpm!

Took me a 4 attempts to win this. Used a de-tuned Praiano Sauber C9, hard tires and one stopped with a lot of fuel saving. Might try it again going faster but with more pit stops

Exactly, i didn't care about anyone, if someone was faster than me i just let them go. When the 787B pitted, i became first and no one tried to take my first place. (Even if the R8 gained 4 seconds in last 3 laps :D)

I took my Sauber C9 for the race and won against the C60 Peugeot by 20 seconds. All of the other cars were a lap down, except for the CLK, which was 2 laps behind.

I used a two-stop strategy, pitting on lap 6 and lap 12. I spent the entire race wearing race hards and pitted for a full tank on the first stop and a half tank on the second.

And when I won, one of my songs of glory, which is the Smashing Pumpkins' Cherub Rock, started playing on the radio station I was tuned in. Let me out!

From what I can see, not filling up every time does nothing.
Did not shave my lap time or decrease tire wear.
and it take longer for the tire change than it does to fill the tank.

Just curious what kind of lap times are the top racers doing with the Hybrid ?
In the draft I just managed a 1:27.138
By myself best is 1:28.341

With the Hybrid you mean the C60 right? I did 1:27.8 without draft, and this was my best because i make more mistakes with cars around, removing the draft bonus :D.

For the refill, i disagree, while they change your tyres, you get about 35-40 litres of fuel, so if you put in more you will lose some time, probably you get the time penalty because of the speed entry....

Yes C60.
If I received a penalty, it was not shown.

Yeah, is not shown but if they put you down, the tank is full, and they don't let you go, you got a penalty. It's very tedious, but you must enter inside pits at low speed, i suggest you to brake at the yellow horizontal line before pits.

That makes sense, as I know I've been well above the limit.
Not that I condone cheating :) but I have found when I 1st started racing this event, that you do not have to use the pit out lane. You can go straight onto the track into T2

Toyota 7 is a massive shock, what a car!

I always thought the car was a bit of a dog but tonight it was an absolute dream to drive. I was ahead of the field by the tenth lap and proceeded to win by around 40 seconds mainly because of how consistent the car was. Lap 12 usually my quickest was a 1:32 flat then to the end the race I logged a super consistent 1:33 flat, 1:33 flat then a 1:33.1 to end.

EDIT: Not really relevant (couldn't find the Le Mans thread) but had a near heart attack taking this to Le Mans. The car was all over the place as I remember. In the rain at the start I nearly spun at the Dunlop chicane, nearly spun coming onto Terte Rouge then spun at Tetre Rouge and again at the second chicane on the Mulsanne.

Normally I'd have given up with the Toyota but I kept at it and by lap 6 I was leading over an Audi R8 by around 10 seconds in what I thought was going to be my last lap. Little did I realise that I was getting faster and faster and the second half of the race I was a lot quicker. So an extra lap was required and therefore a splash and dash for 30ish litres of fuel. I came out around 2 seconds ahead of a Minolta and edged away a little up to Terte Rouge.

Then I got the jitters thinking the Minolta would blow by me either in the Mulsanne or up to Indianapolis so I breaked far too late and spun at the second chicane. He pulled away more up to Indy as expected but I slashed his lead through the Porsche Curves. A massive dive down the inside into the Ford chicane and I nipped into the lead for a great win.

Not bad for a car without lights...

I finally did it!!!! I lapped the entire field!!!

I did this with the the 905B (praiano's tune), i started on RS, pitted at the end of lap 4 for RS and half tank, and again at lap 9, for RH and full tank, i pushed hard for all the race (no tyres or fuel saving needed) keeping low 1:28 with RS and low 1:30 with RH, i did 16th laps and lapped the Hybrid using draft just before the pits of last lap. I really enjoyed this race :D.

Ladies and gentlemen, on my second try i did it. View attachment 301788

Any ideas for other cars i should try the race with? I've the done the 2012 Deltawing as shown above, the C9 and the GT-One. I tried doing it with the Viper Team Oreca and the Zonda R but i failed :guilty:

Decided to try now with the Audi R8 '01. Proved to be the biggest challenge so far in the LMP1 category, successful on my 4th try (after solving understeer issues). Very fun car overall. I'll probably buy a Bentley soon and try with it.

I'm struggling with this one a lot, I haven't played around with settings much but I am murdering tyres (using RH) and at best able to lap at the leaders pace... Confidence has taken a knocking given how many times I have been sent spiralling across the grass...

At one stage I tried to use the Deltawing, believing it's high PP compared to it's low weight and HP figures would make it easy to drive. Massive mistake, the car sucks and will never be driven ever again!

I've found that you just need to settle down.
I was worried the 1st time I did it, as the leader was 27 seconds ahead of me on the 1st lap.
That would cause me to overdrive and either crash, or get penalties
so far the C60 Hybrid is the easiest to win with.

The DeltaWing is a great car, you just need to completely change the way you drive in order to go fast. A few of us have won this event in this car with 0 stops 👍

I lapped the field with the Audi R18. Not the fastest but plenty good with the right tune. I used Praianos tune with my personal modifications.

I like the R18 too! It's extremely easy to drive, as it has a very low power, and a better handling than most of Le Mans cars.

I totally agree with you as it was the first LeMans car that I purchased and used to run the 24 hours of LeMans and it’s is not the fastest in GT6 but handles like a dream. I think I have 24 wins with this car. Yes a truly great addition to GT6. I wish that it had the power in the game that it has in real life but we pretty know why.

You could try the high RPM turbo, isn't much realistic, but so you can fight with others LM even on straight (even if this destroy the competition against the dumb AI :D)

Run the R18 at stock power. More fun. :sly:👍
I did ;). Usually i don't upgrade race cars, but i was curious about the lap times of a R18 with more or less the same power of others LM, and i can say that is very easy to drive even with 800 CV, a little slower than the "beasts" (C60, Speed 8, 905B etc...) but much more easier to control.

I gave this another go in the Peugeot 905 and using Praiano's tune, astounding difference! Suddenly lapping some 2 / 3 seconds faster, a lot more confidence in the car and I'm finding I'm easier on the tyres too! Could have won by a larger margin, as I needed to do a splash and dash stop for fuel with around 3 minutes to go, but instead brimmed the tank accidently!

I'd love to give the Viper GTS a win on the 15th anniversary of its win in the real life 2000 Daytona 24 Hours. But I'm having some major issues with stability under breaking, basically the car wants to swap ends especially coming into to the tricky turn one.

Is there any suggestions in regards to brake balance and suspension settings that would help the car be more stable?

Go with 2 up front and 0 rear for brakes. Suspension go with 0 toe and camber.
