Was asking about the FFB because the reinforcements I add will have to handle the base's weight and torque the wheel spits out.

Its probably fine the way it is now, but I like to lean on the side of caution regarding this kind of stuff.

Thanks for the quick response and info. :)

Ah ic, mate your base can handle this no problem- that 80/20 of yours look solid enough to handle bodnar servo ;)

Hi Marcus

Very interested in modding my f1 wheel like yours with the sli-pro and switches. Do you have any info on where the switches, knobs etc were sources from. Any pics on the assembly Cheers mate

hi Rokkzz, I am / will be writting a thorough tutorial or DIY guide once all the parts arrived. Im still waiting for LEDs and sli cover to arrive.
the LED are for blinking DRS light and other caution lights that will be built in to the wheel.

the Rotary swtich you can only use Leo bodnar ones if you use SLI-PRO as he built a PCB especially for it. same with the wiring , it's only 7 pound for the sets of wiring from leo bodnar, get it with the sLI-PRO

the knobs and buttons are from ebay.
Im building another wheel soon, (maybe january 2013) with knitter switches and NKKs, but at the moment, all shipments were delayed. so Im left with semi complete wheel.

Might be interesting for you...

If I just had the money on hand (but it's christmas time, so it's gone :dunce: )

On the other hand there are some alternatives at interesting price points as well...

http://www.symprojects.com/shop/pro-race/

and if you don't want to mod it by your own...

http://f1wheelmod.webs.com/

Hey thanks for that link Mahnegold, I've just bought 5 more rotary switches, if only i knew about the sale. I'll get another one, oh well, I was hoping SLI-F1 come out on /before christmas.
and yeah even though I will be writting the guide, I'll be suggesting to get the wheel done by modmates instead at http://f1wheelmod.webs.com/ ,
the trouble and tricky sections I had to go though to fit things in there , you might as well get him to do it.worth every penny

What, we are STILL here....oh well, maybe Mayans were off a day or so .

What's the deal Hwangm, I see two monitors! Get the third so we can see some triples action already  !! Thanks for sharing. What are you using to record the video?

Sli plate is nice. Do you have a problem at all with concealing the cable coming from the sli? I use Dashmeter Pro but I want to add sli pro (never can have enough telemetry :))!
.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka, Happy Quanza, Happy New Year...Happy Racing in 2013 :gtpflag:!

Probably make more sense If I post picture

Yeah I wish ...:dopey:

That SLi cover plate looks great, where did you score that from? the DRS lights is a great inclusion not to mention the kers/rev light indicators....its becoming a work of art

Cheers

Hey Happy Christmas and Happy New Year
heheh yeah tripples are for 2013 ,hopefully early.
I have plans for QR for cable management in near future (with my S27 C wheel plate coming soon, all my knitters button sitting here waiting for that carbon plate :dopey:), I'll have to see, it's nice using this wheel daily. tested this with RSRBR 2013 yesterday and it feels nice. I know it's weird.but it feels really fast and agile. almost never changed to the GT wheel now.

I use Gopro HD hero 2 to record most of the vid 👍

Thanks Mate , the SLI cover plate I get from Kai (modmate) he sells them for 40 euro with shipped to AU ( a bit expensive for me ) , maybe I'll cut a blakc tinted perspex to cover the full SLI-Face.

The wheel starting to take shape - my mini 3mm LED is not here yet , adding 4 more LED on the wheel ( since SLI-PRO support 5 external LED .

another thing is , I forgot to mapped delta times on the slimax manager- now that it's supported - it is really useful.

Very nice! Another stellar mod! 💡
From the master modder himself. 👍 👍

Thanks man, , im no Master modder, been obsessed with wheel rim for a long time and didnt have a chance to do anything until now , I think its called OCD, i cant seem to stop thinking about it until every detail is on the right place .
Lol

Great tutorial! I just flew through it. Am I right, that the 3 metal-switches and 2 d-pads are not working now?

Is there any chance to use the original buttens via the wheel's original board and only the additional rotaries etc. via the SLI-board? Both at the same time?

umm, the reason why it can't not because of the connection issue. more like Physical space issue. the PCB can work simultaneously with sli pro, no problem there.

however if you are using the rotary encoders or switches, there won't be enough space to put them as the PCB is sandwich in between the backplate and the front.

I see...

I just try to figure out, which display offers the use of most of the buttons.

Up to now I came to the conclusion, that with "Pro-Race" http://www.symprojects.com/shop/pro-race/ I will loose the most.

SLI-Pro will leave me without D-Pad's and the central "Ferrari"-knob.

"SIM Race Pro" will only leave me without the D-Pad's, so seems to be the best option.

Up to now I have no clue, how to use the analogue input's on SLI-Pro and SIM Race Pro boards...

Hey Tom?,(sorry not sure
If im right) analogue are the same as any other, you need to wire the potentiometer to the data ie one of the functions in the Sli- there should be a wire for it in the ribbon cable provided. , im sure you know that they are used for your foot pedal and or clutch and steering wheel clutch.
Either way sli-F1 should offer more functions when they are released.
Honestly you wont need many/ all of the buttons, you can have button box to take care of the rest.
So go with what you like the most- in terms of look and functionality,
What do you want the sli to display. Ie what information, if its just leds, gear, speed and time then you wont need sli pro.
But if you want kers display or delta times ( not sure if they support it anymore in iracing- i think not) but in other games it should still be working, i know that f1 2012 v2 plugins for the sli pro they have the options in there, i need to configure them a little to find out if they function now

I haven't considered the software side yet to be honest. I have to take some time and study that part. I am not in a rush.

Interesting feature of the SLI pro are the ports for rotary switches in addition to the buttons/encoders. However I will also consider SLI F1 once it's released.

I just started thinking of all that stuff, so my ideas are at a very early stage.

Great tutorial Marcus! Thanks for all the effort!

Hoping for the SLI-F1 release soon, otherwise, i'll just get the Pro and go ahead with your DIY. 👍

One thing, how did you route the cables out of the wheel itself (I probably missed it, ill check again)? Also, I saw someone cut the PCB and move the lower LED to the side to look more F1. Have you ever considered it?
