The '13 should have a 50bhp power advantage thanks to the beefier mazda lump. 350bhp vs 300bhp of the nissan engine.
The qualifying pace of the 2013 car can't match the race pace of the 2012 car. At Petit Le Mans (Road Atlanta), the 2013 managed a 1:16.2 (1:16.6 in race) and the 2012 managed a 1:14.420 (didn't take part in qualifying). I'm talking about the 2013 coupe though, and I'm not even sure whether we're getting the open top or coupe 2013.

But the cars themselves won't be "duplicates". There are some major differences in the bodywork for example.

The closed monocoque is the 2014 model DeltaWing Coupe... the 2013 model DeltaWing is the open top, similar to the original

Could be down to the driver. After all, lucas and co were driving it for a while before panoz took over with own team.

The 2012 car only ran at Le Mans prior to PLM. The 2013 car had been running since the start of the season (in roadster guise) until switching to the coupe variant from COTA onwards.

The 2012 car simply had the superior engine. A custom RML unit which, when badged as a Chevy, brought home 3 Drivers' championships, 2 Manufacturers' championships, and 1 Independents' trophy.
