How do the enemies change once you get to higher levels or turn up the difficulty? Are they smarter, or are they just more of a pain in the ass (tedious) to kill?

Yes to both.

Some of the stronger enemies on hard will quite literally run up to you while you're distracted and melee you to death. That, or you'll be ganged up on by several enemies at once.

I wouldn't say it's especially difficult but it is challenging. And annoying.

Annoying. Progress is console locked between beta and actual game. Have to start all over. Also hate that there is no pause button.

I noticed on hard they flank alot more too and really guard e guys who are down making it hard to get a revive. It's way harder than the beta. I've had alot of fun so far. We did the first moon level and it is insane how many guts come you.

The raids with 6 people on the crazy legendary difficulty is gonna be a blast. Most fun I've had playing a game since socom 2.

Sooo wish I could've picked up my preorder today. Sadly my Miata and all of it's 130 hp decided to destroy a shifter bushing. :( Will have the game tomorrow!

Played for 10 hours staright. Made it to lvl 11. The Hive is the Bane of Guardians existence (on hard difficulty). I imagine the Vex being a harsher force once I make it to Venus.

They get smarter and harder to kill.

Is it me or you're becoming interested in this game? ;)

I think I've been had, the PS+ trial says *For new users only :ouch:
Same here. As I'm already PS+, the code will not work for me.

At last, I could get my White PS4 + Destiny bundle yesterday after work.
Rushed home, installed the PS4 and downloaded the latest firmware and the Destiny day-one patch. But my connection was slow and I could only start playing late. However, enough to recreate my female Awoken Warlock and do the first 2 missions.
Man, the difference with the PS3 is just awsome!!

I need to do my homework, I can't keep playing this game. The Crucible is absolutely addicting, although there are some things that could be fixed.

  • Vehicles are a bit too powerful. I often found myself blasting through the map on a Pike or the Interceptor going on 10 kill-killing sprees. I think that they should make the pilot take more damage and make the vehicle less of a bullet sponge.
  • The Hunter special move is pretty over-powerful. Driving the Interceptor, I got killed by it in one shot which is uncalled for. They need to make it at least two shots for the Interceptor and one for the pike. The range for the pistol should be knocked down since with maps like Moon, and other spacious maps can be dominated by the special and a sniper rifle being packed into one kit.
  • The Auto Rifle needs a definite toning down also. I think there should be a penalty of using it at extremely close quarters. I usually found myself confused as to what was going on due to the fact that I was getting sprayed down by these things and they do the same damage as some of the other rifles which are weaker. For what the rifles are.. the Marksman rifle does too little damage. The Marksman should do the most damage, following it is the Pulse rifle and then the Auto Rifles at the lowest damage through making it have less impact..
Those are just a few interpretations from my binge of Destiny. The story is monotonous, but the art design is somewhat making up for it.

I've always been interested just from all the hype. Otherwise I wouldn't have even come to this thread. I'm just pretty much completely opposed to paying a monthly on a $60 game.

Do you get to play the free psn games without PS+? I can't believe you don't have PS+. It's a great deal. It's really weird to hear you say it like your paying for it just to play destiny. The amount of free content you get is well worth the price of admission. My favorite PS4 game so far was a free game with PS+ and almost all the game my son plays on ps4 were free.

you don't have to have PS+ to play Destiny ,That being said, the campaign (At least to me) is very fun as of now and i've only just scratched the surface.

I've had PS+ for nearly 2 years now (I got my PS4 just yesterday), and I've played many cool games for free with PS+ (Vanquish, Spec Ops the Line, Mass Effect 3, Assassin's Creed III, Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2, among others).
I subscribed because of the numerous games offered and also for the possibility to save my games on the cloud...

I'm currently downloading Resogun, Outlast and Trine 2 for my brand new PS4 (I "purchased" these games when they were offered for free in the last months, as I knew I would get a PS4 sooner or later). Not bad, I only bought Destiny and I already have 3 more games waiting for me...

Until now, paying a PS+ subscription has been worth the money. I hope this will continue even though now PS+ is mandatory to play on-line on PS4.

Note that if you're on PS3, you do not need PS+ to play Destiny.

Anyway, I understand your opinion. Paying for on-line play is totally unfair. And I was among the first people to raise against this fact when Sony announced that PS+ would become mandatory for on-line playing on PS4...

Download Velocity 2x while you're at it.

ANyway returning to the topic, hear a few complain that it gets a bit stale after a while, is this true?

It's not free because I don't play anything on Playstation. However, it's pretty cool that they do have big titles for free. Is it free for the period only (like a rental), or free indefinitely once you download it during the offered period? I can see it being worthwhile if you do all of your gaming on PS. Certainly if you game a lot too.

PS-Plus 'free' games only last for as long as you have a subscription.

Games are offered for free for a one-month period, then after that time they regain their initial status where you have to pay to get them. But you do not need to download them during that time. You can "purchase" them for free and download them 3 months later for instance. This is what I'm currently doing with Resogun (offered last year), Trine 2 and Outlast... They are no longer free on the PS store, but they were when I "purchased" them.

You have full access to the PS+ "free" games as long as your PS+ subscription runs (provided that you "purchased" them at the time they were offered).

Thats why I prefer Microsofts Games for Gold, the games are yours regardless if you have the subscription anymore.. On the 360 they had some good titles released on it. However, right now on the One, there isnt much released so its mostly indie games.

I'm anxiously waiting for Friday, gonna go out to eat with the other half, and stop by Target for some random things since its right next door, so I'll pick it up there.

Are you on ps4? If so I would really like to play the game but being in college my assets are limited so PS+ (at the moment) isn't a huge priority

Here is short clip on the PS4 of me taking down a baron with a punch to the face. Man I love punching stuff in this game

Thank you so much. That is all I wanted. It is so hard to find solid answers about this game anywhere

Venus is a stupid planet with stupid mobs that spawn at a stupidly-continuous rate for the first mission on the aforementioned stupid planet.

Stupid.

Got the game on release, played it, enjoyed it but don't feel like playing it that much, I think I'm just one of those people who just can't no life a game when it comes out as I won't enjoy it that much. Still makes me feel bad when I see I top rank the tower with really cool shiny armor :(

That's the one I watched, gave me a bad impression of the game.

Think I lean towards Jeff Gerstmann's feelings on the game.

Has anyone gotten into a 6 player raid yet?
I can't seem to find any new info on them about how long it takes to beat one.

I think the raids are only activated on the 16th I think. As for time scale a game dev said once the team know what they are doing a raid should take no more than 3 HOURS!!!! One team apparently spent 16 hours trying to do a raid and failed even after that.

I've played as far as level 4 (in one sitting on the 9th) and I'm... I don't know, a bit bored. It's just a bit Halo, a bit Mass Effect and really quite generic, the story especially. I'm not seeing anything nearly like the variety you get in Borderlands 2 where you encounter four enemy types (Bullymongs, bandits, rakks and skags, not counting the sub-types like psychos, marauders, nomads or their sub-sub-types) and three bosses before you even reach Sanctuary which takes about an hour. So far in Destiny I've fought dregs, vandals, captains (all with pretty much the same attacks, except some vandals who rush you), shanks, thralls, alcolytes, a wizard and another boss. It feels quite samey to me so far and I don't really want to carry on, but... I will. So.

Oh and the weapons, is it me or do you only have one model of weapon for each class? So far I've had two scout rifles that were identical except damage and two sniper rifles that were identical except damage and magazine size.

So I found an excellent review called Destiny the good, the bad, the ugly. And I was able to talk to one of the guys at The Escapist during their live stream and had a lot of questions answered. And the PC version isn't even a consideration until March? Meh.

So I bought the game on PS3. I'll try to pick up a used PS4 down the road. That or wait until black friday. To whomever it was that first made me aware of the free PS4 copies you get from buying the PS3 version: thanks again.

Right now I have an Awaken male that I've made look like Kaioshin from DBZ lol. Warlock, of course.

So far, the best gun imo are the high-impact revolvers. They enemies are stunned by each shot so they can't return fire. It's much easier to place shots accurately because you have about a second and a half to re-aim and close distance while doing so. Once you're close enough, you can finish with melee. You have to use cover for groups, but that's easy with the handcannons too. Pop out, take a shot or two, and then pop back in. Once you hit and stun something, you can keep working on him with the rest of your clip until the other guys start firing on you too much.

The game is BORING and DUMB on normal mode. You MUST play the game on Hard. Hard isn't hard, but it makes the enemies not completely braindead. Bossfights are crazy tedious though. You'll run out of ammo. I say tedious because the boss was a hulking brainless beast. It was very easy to kill him, but it just took FOREVER.

I'm trying to figure out how synergy works with the classes and subclasses. I don't yet have enough XP to play with builds.

I sort of like the fact that the game is obviously built around people with an allowance of gaming time. This is like a saturday morning thing. You can do one or two missions and then you're good for the week.

I don't see any benefit (besides graphics, obviously) to the PS4 version right now. Everything is running fine for me, and it still looks better than any other PS3 shooter I've played.

I stand by my earlier comment: it's Guild Wars with guns in space.

@Omnis, be careful, the free upgrade is only if you purchased the game in digital version... ;)
I agree with you. Switching to hard will render ennemis less stupid, they'll try to attack you on your flank instead of rushing towards you (well except the Hive). It's more challenging, and more rewarding, in this way.
