I think it was @Terronium-12 (?) who got a New Monarchy (?) hand cannon (?) and I got a FWC fusion rifle.

See that's the thing, I'm not affiliated with any of the factions and yet I've gotten Crusader I (NM scout rifle) and it has a better perk than the same weapon sold, Red Hand IX (NM hand cannon), The Chance (FWC hand cannon), Steel Oracle Z-11 (Crucible rocket launcher), 2 77 Wizards (Crucible fusion rifle), and one thousand MG's from just about everyone.

All obtained from engrams. It's a guarantee that you'll get these from leveling up the factions but seeing as I never bothered*... I'd say I've gotten the best of every world.

*That's not true at all. I'm level 7 (8? 9?) Vanguard and even then the only thing I've ever purchased first hand was a rare sparrow. All engrams.

Been lurking around this thread for sometime and thought I would join in. I've levelled my Titan upto 28 and have all abilities for both sub classes, but tend to play more with the defender sub class. The Crypto Guy has treated me ok so far. Have a couple of legendary scout rifles and Dr Nope auto rifle that I purchased on Monday before the autos got nerfed! Completed a couple of exotic bounties for Pocket Infinity and Super Good Advice as they didn't require me to get my ass kicked in the crucible. I also have legendary machine gun The Swarm, as well as rocket launchers Unfriendly Giant and Steel Oracle Z-11.
It took a few hours to complete the weekly nightfall strike last night and I received 10 strange coins. Hopefully the mysterious Xur will turn up with some goodies that I can purchase, as I didn't have enough coins last week to buy Icebreaker, gutted!

I would like to do the Raid with my fellow guardians from this thread, as well as daily, weekly and nightfall strikes. Please feel free to add bonio71 on PS4.

Getting my cryptarch up to level 19 I'm noticing he's giving me a legendary engram I bit more often now.

That's good news if holds true for others.

I've been reading, if you get armour and weapons levelled up with XP but don't buy the upgrades, then dismantle them you get more materials. I tried on a helmet and it did seem to work.

On a similar note, dismantling highly upgraded stuff seems to give you... Stuff. I had a legendary Crucible scout rifle that I'd upgraded right up to the ascendant energy upgrades, when I dismantled it I got maybe 3 or 4 energy and a scout rifle telemetry thing, one of the things Xûr sells. I've never had one from any other source.

Wow, I certainly am discussing a game I haven't played for two weeks a lot.

Thanks again Mr @Terronium-12 ,still need to find one more fusion rifle for the exotic bounty that I've had for like 4 weeks.

@neema_t we miss you.

I beat the raid for the 3rd time last night. It was by far the smoothest run through yet. Took right about 2 hours from start to finish.

The first two times I beat it I got inky ascendant materials the entire time. Last night my luck changed. I got a raid legendary rocket launcher, raid legendary auto rifle that does void damage and raid gauntlets. I've got over 50 shards so I'll be able to level up the gauntlets really fast.

The auto rifle is crazy. Its not that great against normal enemies and its terrible in the crucible but it destroys ones with void shields. It also has a vault of glass perk that boosts super power for killing either oricles or the big minataur guys in the vault if glass. It will make going through the VOG really easy. I think I'm ready for the hard level now after getting it.

I really need to try the raid.

Its really fun. By far the best experience of destiny. I hate that sites give reviews of destiny without having completed the raid. It really shows what you've been leveling your character up for.

Absolutely. And I don't know when they were last on sale, but they're sold every third day.

Goddamn it game give me some rare fusion rifles please!!!! Fed up of this exotic bounty taking up space! I've checked the gunsmith every change today 12.00 - 3.00 - 6.00 - 9.00 - 12.00 and havnt seen any. Not only that but I've done loads of strikes and got 2 in about 5 days. The other 5 I got I pinched from my level 22 hunter that im working on.

Edit - It would be just my luck he'd have them for sale in the early morning. As tempted as I am to stay up and check the 3.00 change I'm going to bed.

Please, for the love of God, if you're going to try the raid, spend an hour or two and prepare.

Read a walkthrough of each fight. Watch YouTube videos. Memorize the strategies (or at least have an understanding of them) for each part. If you don't have Ice Breaker to cheese out the auto-ammo-regen buy a bunch of ammo synthesis packs. Make sure that you've used the bathroom before you go, and keep some water in reach, because you'll be talking a lot (unless you're a bad) and you'll want the refreshment, but you won't have time really to get up.

Every time I've done it, I end up with people who have no idea what's going on, and I have to teach every single part of the raid to them like a child. Very few things are more aggravating than this. Don't be that guy. Show a little commitment and be the guy who isn't causing wipes every 5 minutes.

With all due pardon to those that know the sequence of events already, what's the point of doing the raid if you already know what to do despite never having actually done it before? The entire point of it is to learn through a series of frustration and perhaps rage. Being prepared for what might lie ahead is one thing, knowing every single thing that's going to happen and you've never even partook in the event is something else entirely.

At times, the internet, as a convenience, takes every fundamental aspect of 'the unknown' away and leaves you with something that you don't quite know what to do with. Whenever I find myself finally doing it I'll only have a fundamental understanding and nothing more.

The most fun I've had, by far playing the raid was the first time I tried it and had really no clue at all what was going on. We had 1 person that had done it and he guided us a little. I think the first time took us about 3 hot all together.

I honestly wouldn't advise anyone to get the ice breaker and cheese their first time through any of the raid. It would ruin the entire experience. I'm too the point now I just want to run through out and make it easy but if o had me players in the game I would want them to experience it the way it's meant to be.

That's fine. If you want to do it where you have to discover everything yourself, great. Get together with a group of people who want to do the same thing and do it that way. Have fun with your 8+ hours of grinding on the fights, and play the game the way you want to. I have nothing against it whatsoever, as long as I don't get forced into doing it because you're the only person in the raid group that want's to do it that way and you refuse to prepare. That's when it's an issue.

If you're doing it with people who all want to do it like they're the first ones to do it, great. Do that. If you're with a group of random people who all want to do the raid, the least you can do is make sure you're not a hindrance to the rest of the group and do a little research. When you're inviting people from the Tower to do the raid, if you want to do it like you're the world first, be up front about it. Don't get a group together, start the raid, and then cause hundreds of wipes for people who are just trying to get through the content for the loot because you want to 'learn it' like there's no other way. That's when it gets frustrating.

The VoG is hard. It's like nothing else in any shooter I've ever played. If you've played WoW, or other MMOs, you probably have an idea of what to expect. If you've played shooters, and think it's going to be like a difficult level in a shooter, you're wrong, and you're going to fail. A lot. Again, I have no problem with people forming groups and tackling it however they see fit to do so. What I have a problem with is people who make groups to 'do the raid quick' and have no idea what it is or how to do it, because it takes forever and simply isn't fun to die over and over because one or two people cant get their act together.

I would say that honestly, if you're not a fairly hardcore progression raid group that's done this sort of thing before, it would be nearly impossible to do the VoG without at least looking at a guide. Especially with a group of randoms from the Bungie forums or from Tower invites. The coordination and communication alone makes it hard with randoms, and that with half the group having an excellent understanding of the mechanics. A whole group of randoms who had no idea what was supposed to be happening would never be able to finish it.*

A fundamental understanding would be 100% better than what most people have.

While I agree that the internet has done away with mystery in a lot of ways, I would say that for this it isn't a bad thing. For people like you, who want to be surprised, you still can be. Get a group together with the express purpose of doing the VoG that way and have a blast. Meanwhile, the people who just want to do it and be able to complete it in a decent time, and want to see the content and do the fights, they can look up guides and be a little bit prepared for what they're going to face. That way, when they have to impose themselves onto other people in order to do the raid, they aren't the guy dragging the whole group down.

The most fun I've had, by far playing the raid was the first time I tried it and had really no clue at all what was going on. We had 1 person that had done it and he guided us a little. I think the first time took us about 3 hot all together.
So people are like this. Some people are not. My idea of fun isn't wiping on the same fight 20 times because people have no idea what to do. Wiping 20 times at all is terrible, but that many just to figure a fight out, and then wiping more after that because of mistakes once we figured out what to do...? No thanks. I'd rather only wipe to mistakes, because you get plenty of wipes from that alone.

Having that one guy guiding you helped you out a lot though I'd be willing to bet, because after only a few wipes at each stage he was able to explain to each person which aspect of the mechanics had killed them, and you could go from there to formulate a strategy. That's fine, if you find someone patient enough to be that 1 guy teaching everyone else. Most people aren't.

Out of curiosity, what was your Raid Group makeup? 3 hours for the first time isn't bad at all, and I suspect that part of that was down to group makeup, but I could be wrong.

I don't really think that Ice Breaker helps you cheese any of the fights (now that the Templard platforms got kill volumes at least) it just helps with ammo. It's more of a quality-of-life thing than it is an easy-or-hard thing. It lets you keep your DPS up in the longer stretches, because you can use Ice Breaker while you wait for the auto-synthesis to refill your primary ammo. I'm pretty sure that you can't get heavy ammo from auto-synth in the VoG, so it's not really that exploitative. It just cuts down on how often you're standing around unable to contribute. It's basically like using a synth-pack, but without the pointless and time consuming menu interaction.

*- Of course, there's a slim possibility of them being able to, but it's very small. Even if they did, the clock on that raid would be so long that I think they'd probably give up before they finished it.

Well it happened. One of my really good friends was in a party with players that were on the very last boss of the raid on HARD difficulty and they needed another player. I am still only a level 28. So I joined and after about 15 attempts, we beat the final boss on hard. I earned some energy and the legendary sparrow.

Great group of players and we ended up going through the raid again right after that but this time on normal. Then started going through again. It was nice to find a really good group of communicating members that don't mind just playing through the raid even if they don't get anything. Also I was able to hold my own VERY well using my Ice Breaker sniper, Venation III hand cannon, and sometimes my Found Verdict shotgun. So now I pretty much have each area of the raid down and know which weapon to use for each event. Later I earned the Praydeths revenge sniper.

Started my first raid 2 nights ago but we had to stop early when a few people had to leave. So we start again last night and fly through it to Atheon. We are doing great and have his health down to a sliver. The same 3 go through the portal every time while myself and 2 others defend and keep it open. Things were going great, we need less than a full round of hitting Atheon for him to die, when one of there guys through the portal runs out of ammo and they couldn't kill all the oracles.:banghead: We gave it a few more shots but couldn't execute as well and decided to finish tonight. I'm sure it will go good tonight but it was frustrating.

Finally got a PS4 and got Destiny almost done downloading.

I'm looking at my screen here and there you are... dammit, @Clark.

Always stock up on ammo packs. I usually have 8-10 each on standby just in case of emergencies like that.

Yeah, I do too. Not sure if he didn't or what. I use the glimmer from my alt character to purchase most of my ammo packs.

Ok doing a bit of reading tomorrow especially evening/night rare fusion rifles are due to be sold by the gunsmith. @Terronium-12 wentioned that they are sold every third day and that matches what ive seen on a few forums. On the official destiny forum there was a thread where someone was asking about the gunsmith and fusion rifles. Multiple people replied saying they were for sale at that time. This was the 13/10. so today(19/10) looks like it could be a good chance he could be selling them again. A few people said they were for sale in the evening but to be sure I'll check from 12.00pm onwards.

Edit - Make that tomorrow (sunday.) lol. Read the date wrong.

Titan 28 with both Stryker and Defender filled.

Speaking of that, how many people here on GTP actually have Destiny on the One?

Is there enough for a 6-man raid fireteam?

I'm down for doing the raid on normal Sunday if anybody is free?

Also does Xur sell the same stuff or does change each week? This week's seems abit poor....

I have a crew that I've been working with lately but I'm up for some vault. I just finished my first run tonight. I'll add you.

I may be free Sunday depending on the time. Xür's stock changes each week but I think repeats have happened in the past. I picked up the chest engram and rocket launcher.

Finished the vault for the first time and received Atheon's Epilogue and Chatterwhite! Pumped for both since my Titan looks sweet with Chatterwhite and Crest of Alpha Lupi chest armor. The Epilogue is my first legendary primary and very nice from my experience so far.

Ok, thanks mcfizzle. I'll add you with my app. I'm at work and play for just an hour or so in the morning when I get home. I will be off starting monday. So if you see me and are getting a group together hit me up.

I want to do the raid but I've got a ps4 anyone who wants to do it let me know. I've been levelling up my Titan for it I'm lvl 24 now I have had luck with cryptarch today he gave a legendary dr Nope auto rifle and a legendary helmet forgot which one. I also got something legendary for my hunter class when I start that. Been grinding a lot in the last few days just levelled my vanguard rank to 1. I will be playing salvage this weekend though for a bit. Saving my coins and motes of lite to buy something exotic.
