BX, I've seen atleast 2 6ers a month in NY. Most of them are 650is, or older 645i 'Verts.

We need to begin to make rules about the quality of cars that can be posted in this thread.

That's not even an IS350, it's an IS250. Those go for $30k. I could practically have one of those myself, and I haven't even got a job.

Meh I don't know what they are, we were driving 85 now the freeway.

But remember I live in the land where if you drive a non "american" vehicle you'll be shot....several times.

Funny you say that, the SL55 isnt anything too out of the ordinary, not that i see them often

what i find interesting is the fact that everyone missed the small outlet on the bumper of that one, signifying it as an SL65. :p

The sad part is that Land Rover is more capable off-road than that Hummer ever will be.

Yes and no, but mostly yes. From what I understand, the H3 is surprisingly capable off-road, but what kills it is the rather pathetic I5 that they had stuffed in there. Certainly, the newer larger version helps, but they're going to need a turbo to fix those problems... Better yet, the Atlas I6.

The Range Rover Sport has always seemed to allude me here in Grand Rapids. They're around, and I've seen them, but whenever I think it is a Sport, it always turns out to be a "regular" Range Rover.

(Yes, I realize there is a size difference)

Oh, and on the subject of BX's stuff, he is absolutely right. Foreign cars, particularly high-end foreign cars, are about as uncommon as white guys in the NBA in some parts of the state. The suburbs around Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing suburbs, the "Greater Grand Rapids" area, and the Traverse City area are the areas with the highest concentrations of foreign makes and models. Everywhere else it is a sea of F-150s, Impalas, and Neons.

...I've driven through Detroit in my Volkswagen, and trust me, you'll get dirty looks in some parts of the city...

One of those could go off-road. Hint: Its not the van.

What? The G6 GT?

...Actually not even 10 seconds after I took that picture a late-model 3000GT in pretty good shape went by. It was white, which I hardly ever see the Mitsu in, and thank God it didn't have any aftermarket crap on it.

They don't add aftermarket crap to 3000GT's. It would make them too heavy...

Yes. I was fighting off laughter while posting that.

Hey Toronado, you know that thread about the Sentra that they completely stripped of all its body panels and ran in the quarter? Well they did that with a 3000GT and a crane fell on top of it. It seems that after the mechanics all got hernias removing parts (radio buttons: 50lbs; alloy wheels: 9,000lbs) they called in a crane to do the grunt work, but when it attempted to lift off the dashboard it couldn't take the seven-ton bulk and collapsed on the car.

I saw a BMW 745 (I believe it was a 745 Li) today with blacked-out stock wheels and cartoony flames down the side.
You know.. think of flames like this...

Stuck onto the side of a latest generation (I forget the E-code) of BMW 7 Series.
Needless to say, I almost laughed myself off the road.

-Edit- Wrong thread. It, obviously, is supposed to go in the Questionable Modifications thread. I feel S-M-R-T.

Doug, I didn't have nearly as good of a day in Buckhead today as you usually seem to have. I was in a rush going to doctors and whatnot, so mine are all shots from driving. Forgive the horrible shots, but it's better than nothing.

Nothing special really, but I took a picture of anything I found to be the slightest bit interesting.

Here's Hong Kong's Peninsula Hotel's answer to Atlanta's Intercontinental Phantom...

That's a 14 car fleet! That's almost US$5,000,000 of Phantom goodness! I was briefly in the back of one the other day. Absolutely exquisite car!

Wide arched Honda Odyssey. License plate more befitting of a nice new Porsche!

Nice pairing. :D

I'm not sure whether or not you can see the smirk on that guy's face, but it's there, because he noticed me photographing his new Maserati.

I've noticed that drivers of cars that are actually worth good money -- if they respond at all -- respond favorably or at least smile if they see me take the photo. I get 👍 every so often, which is cool; naturally, I 👍 back. The drivers of cars worth less than $50,000 usually respond with caution or indignation. Go figure.

M5Power
Mine too, although you almost never see it. I did see an Altima today with a Porsche 'turbo' badge, but it looked pretty modded and who knows - maybe it had a turbo. One of my favorite false badges is this one, on a 96-02 Range Rover. For all I know, it did have an aftermarket supercharger but it was bone stock on the outside save that badge - which, by the way, is from a supercharged Buick (either a Park Avenue Ultra or a Regal GS).
10 points if you can catch the irony!

Probably explained by now, but since I haven't read that far yet: Decades ago, Rover used an old Buick (GM) V8 for many of their V8-engined cars, including the Range Rover. The V8 depicted was a direct descendant of that engine.

No points, I'm sure. :sly:

I also agree about the '54-56 Corvette being its own generation. A "C0" of sorts, since it's the car the Olds F88 was supposed to be, but far from what the Corvette quickly became.

Is it bad when you like the T-Bird and Roadrunner better (background)?

Yes. Now here's your dunce cap, :dunce: and when class is over you will write "The BMW 507 is the most beautiful German car ever made and Chris Bangle can do no wrong." 100 times on the blackboard. Think of the chalk dust cancer as your penance.

Yah, just kidding....

Anyway:

Hummer H1

First one I've seen in three years. That's no exaggeration. The H2 (and now H3) have totally blown it off the road. Too bad the H1 is the only one with true ability, and one of the few things that could out-SUV and Land Rover.

Mazda 6 MPS

Still a nice car, still hard to find compared to it's claimed competition. Still waiting to find the 3 MPS that lurks around my office. I see it every so often, but never when I'm even close to ready.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII SE

What's with the SE badge? Thought it was an MR from across the parking lot, but never heard of the SE. Looking it up on Mitsu's web site, it's priced somewhere between standard and MR, but has MR wheels and some neat aero effects. Other than that, you can't compare the SE in the web site comparison. Probably just the trim, then.

Saleen Parnelli Jones Mustang

Literally, I spotted this from 1/4 mile away. In heavy traffic. Sure, I was in a Ford E250 at the time, and the road is dead flat there, but the color and black hood scoop just shouted right out at me. It's the coolest current Mustang besides the non-produced GT-R.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante 1980

There was discussion as to what is the most beautiful Aston Martin. I think they're all beautiful (70's sedans like the Lagonda aside) from the DB4 on up to the DB9. But the 70's V8 Vantage is my favorite. I prefer the '77 coupe, but this one is nice. I guess my longing for a 1968 Mustang has something to do with that, but this actually looks better. By far.

And yes, the owner went into Best Buy. :odd: Well, at least his taste in cars is good.

I want one!

10 Bonus Points Are Won!

I saw a legend today, and I hope it will still be there tomorrow when I go to school. Perhaps the rarest car I have ever seen.

Hell, perhaps I will go see today anyways.

What is that? A Legend?
But no.

You said you saw a Legend, so yes.

Unbelievably, when you search for 'Acura Legend' on Google images, that's one of the best pictures that pops up - and that's a shot of an early 2nd-gen basic coupe model, which was probably the worst-selling Legend of all of them (except for the first-gen coupe, and the 2nd-gen manual coupe, but we don't speak of that one because it's too awesome).
