Saturday, April 21
Okay, here goes. This Saturday was essentially a car show in the Buckhead section of Atlanta. As mentioned, I took 170 photos of vehicles from 22 different makes. I'm posting the 80 best photos here, including the biggest highlights - three vehicles I had never in my life seen prior to today (on the road, anyway). Enjoy - I definitely did - and I have the sunburn to prove it.

HIGHLIGHTS:
As promised, three cars I've never photographed on the road before. First and most importantly, here's something intense:
That's a Porsche 911 GT2 996, with TechArt wheels. MSRP on that vehicle was $192,000 when it was out, and the TechArt stuff would easily toss that into the $200k range - it's the most expensive Porsche ever aside from the Carrera GT (and, I guess, the 911 GT1). This is the first GT2 I've ever seen on the road; it's car that had been on my 'why haven't I seen this on the road?' list for a long, long time. South Carolina tags, and I figured the owner would be a celebrity so
here's a shot of him. A beautiful, beautiful car.
FINALLY!!! This vehicle debuted in February of 2006. I saw one at the Denver Auto Show in March and then went on the lookout for one. I've looked hard for the last thirteen months to no avail (despite seeing
FIVE Murcielago Roadsters, which is what really irks me since this is essentially half the price of that). When I woke up Saturday morning, I just got the feeling I'd see one. A friend rode the bus with me to the mall to shop and I told her I was 'sure' I would see a one today, and alas I did. The best shot is the left-rear; that's when it looks most aggressive. Manual transmission and local plates on this one, which was parked at the mall for four or five hours today. More shots:

Here's something you don't see every day. One, it's a bright blue Phantom, which is weird enough. Two, it's got Missouri license plates. I thought it might be Andre 3000's, since he has homes in both Atlanta and St. Louis, but a white guy was driving. The reason this is a good spot has nothing to do with those details though - it's the new long-wheelbase Rolls-Royce, the Phantom LWB, which lists at $385,000 - making it the most expensive four-door vehicle ever sold in the US (although if the Maybach 62S is out yet, that's no longer true, as they're pushing $400k). Fantastic spot, and a great car to see (twice!). More photos:

Hope you enjoyed those shots - definitely the best Atlanta day yet!!
