The guy who got into the car (I sat about 20 yards away eating my Subway) was easily 30, maybe more.

Are you sure E280's are rare? Or just US rare?

Sounds like they could the AutomotiveForum sponsored cars as both those Skylines are seen racing in California track meets.

Doug:
There's at least 4 Nobles here in Texas. One black one I had seen (a GTO3-R w/out spoiler) was very loud. He was interested in ordering a Super Snake at Unique (where I saw it), but was disappointed to see no orders were being taken at the time. The front right of his Noble had also been hit by a woman on a cell phone. That section was apparently, the sanded-down part, which made it look very unprofessional, that had been hit. He had a Noble specialist coming in to fix it within the week.

He is still, very proud of owning one. I've seen him from then on at the Dallas Auto Show, and Texas Motor Speedway.
I dont't know, I haven't actually seen them in person yet...

The owner of the shop is Ken Xu.. also some guy there , forgot his name, drifts his 180sx in forumla D.

Definately US rare, I think EU rare too, just a smaller version of the twin cam M104 engine that still makes more power than my 300E. It was also sold as the 300E 2.8 for a while. the one in the picture looks like a 94 which I think is the last year for the 2.8 if I'm not mistaken... As far as I know 2.8s weren't produced in the numbers the higher end cars were because Mercedes thought they wouldn't sell as many (they were probably right considering various diesel and other small 6 cylinder options)

I still believe these are just jokes pulled by pranksters though then again, people have been that stupid.

No - the "SL" and "500" have been intentionally pulled apart to allow more room for the R, which would've required some time and effort.

I don't mean to question your knowledge because you seem to be a very good W124 source, but all of my sources say that the vehicle was never sold as the E280 in the States and just as the 300E 2.8. Am I wrong? If so - what year was it the E280? It would've had to have been '94 or '95 since the model names had the letters as a suffix through '93 and it was redesigned in '96 - but no sources list the car as the E280.

you're right, the book I use has a pic of a 280E so I assumed it was sold here but later in the book it says it was only sold as the 2.8... they would have been pretty much the exact same car though. I still can't find any production numbers for europe so I don't know if it's really rare over there or not.

had a go in this today, concorde of the sea :) has 2 engine from a saab jet fighter and another 2 from a 747 resulting in 100,000bhp 0-20 knts in 12 seconds,50knts top speed and it only uses 20,000 litres of fuel per hour

Wow, 4 thousand replies. Congratulations to all the people who posted sightings here.

That boat is  fast!

I'm proud to have nearly 15% of all the posts in this thread, which I still consider to be the best on GTP. Thanks all for making it so good.

Even though 90% of your earlier posts are now useless because you removed all your photos from them? :dunce:

Today I saw a Lamborghini Gallardo AND an Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Yesterday I saw an Austin A30 Wagon.

Monday I saw a 1966 Jaguar 3.8S.

What a week

I didn't remove the photos, I just decided on a new naming scheme and had to change the old ones, which makes them broken images. Furthermore, I couldn't tolerate image theft, so the move protected me. So it killed two birds with one stone. Plus, I don't consider those posts useless, as they made a lot of people happy at the time.

The member who stole the images eventually apologized to me and since that incident hasn't been posting here very much. Which in my opinion is another positive from the drama over and subsequent re-naming of the images.

You are quite right in that you never removed them from the posts, but you removed them from your photobucket account, which means that you caused them to be broken images. So they didn't just magically disappear. You removed them.

They may have been useful at the time, but there is no way that this is still a perfectly useful post.

How did you find out who it was?

I saw a new Dodge Nitro yesterday, though I didn't take a pic as it was at a dealer (though it had been purchased, inspected and registered, it seemed). That and I didn't have my camera.
I also saw another Camry Wagon, though this one was purple.

Um, no. As I mentioned, I didn't delete them, I just decided on a new naming scheme which made them easier to find. Not one image I've ever posted on GTP is unaccounted for elsewhere in my Photobucket account with the new naming scheme. Comically, before leaving I had already renamed about a quarter of the images, however no one had noticed they were broken; the theft simply made me expedite the process.

They may have been useful at the time, but there is no way that this is still a perfectly useful post.

Um.

So delete it?

The member contacted me and apologized. I accepted his apology and, fortunately for the community, he doesn't post much anymore. A third image was stolen in January, however I don't suspect any GTP members regarding that one, which was subsequently removed from ExoticSpotter.

You can either hotlink it (though that is arguably bandwidth theft rather than imgae theft), or take it and say it is yours, or post it somewhere without the original creator's permission. The last one is what caused the fight last year.

Um, no. As I mentioned, I didn't delete them,
I never said you deleted them.

I just decided on a new naming scheme which made them easier to find.
Which just so happened to remove them from your posts, in order to stop people from stealing them. The nice thing to do then would be to put them back after you watermarked them, in order to keep your favourite thread in one piece. 💡

You said I removed them from my Photobucket account, which is categorically false. I simply renamed them.

Yes - as I said, it worked out in several ways.

The nice thing to do then would be to put them back after you watermarked them, in order to keep your favourite thread in one piece. 💡

Yes - I have time for that.

I love the way those older Mercs look. Very sexy. I want one. I found one on Autotrader, and has the free report, nothing wrong with it either.... 4k. I wish I was 18 or so and had the money.
