OK this is a repeat of a car that I saw but now I have pictures of. The car is a BMW 325iX Bavaria, that doesn't exist :dopey:

Great pics TsLeng & Roo!

I was going to say the exact same thing! In fact, you can add; Spitfire (named after the most famous British fighter plane from WWII) Mk IV in British Racing Green; on a bumpy city street; coach lighting shop; and a car with a hot pink paint job. How much more British can you get in just one pic? :D:tup:

Thanks for the compliments guys.:)

BTW, the 'car with hot pink paint job' is a London taxi...

From a few days ago....

930 Carrera Targa:

VX220 Turbo:

Astra 888 coupe (one of just 100):

And my favourite sighting this week.
R107 Mercedes 500SL (Is that an aftermarket AMG badge?):

That orange car is indeed an olf VW. VW karmann if im not mistaken

Dunno about the focus.

Damn nice merc conv you've got there bondy..

More good pictures from bondy_1625 and turbo lag! 👍

Can anyone identify that old orange car which i posted and the Focus R?

The older orange VW you took a picture of is a VW Karman Ghia. At least that is what I am seeing in that picture. Here is a link to a gallery of VW Karman Ghia pictures. VW Karman Ghia Pictures

There is one Focus R in existence, but it was a concept car from Ford. See this link Ford Focus R. So it looks like the car you have spotted is a questionable mod, though it could be a Focus RS, in which case it would mean the S on the badge has fallen off or been taken off. But since I cannot see the badge in your picture, I cannot really be for sure (I still smell questionable mod). Plus I have no idea if Australia got the Focus RS or not, as I know the US did not get it. For a picture of what the back of the RS looks like and more importantly in this case the badge, check this link out. Ford Focus RS Badge Picture

Hope all that is helpful. 👍

The last ever Ford Laser model, I believe was the Ford Laser R. Which was pretty much the stock Ford Laser with a Laser SR body kit. So I assume that the Focus R, is more of the same, probably the 1.8 with the 2.0 Zetec Kit and bits and pieces.

And my favourite sighting this week.
R107 Mercedes 500SL (Is that an aftermarket AMG badge?):

Back in those days AMG modifications usually ment: chrome wheel arch flashes, small front and rear spoilers and spoked alloys. This car could quite easily be an AMG, they were not part of M-B back in the 70's/80's and could do what they wanted - regardless of taste.

*Bump*

New finds from the past few days:

n78001441_30283432_7995.jpg

The first of the new 3-series convertibles are here in Grand Rapids, and they are pretty sweet. The champagne-colored one was 'just' a 328, but I really liked it, until I was told of the price: Nearly $50K. No thanks, BMW, no thanks.

...In the back of the first photo you can see a black 3-series sedan, and it is a 335xi. I had no idea that they built them that way. In the second photo you can see another 335i sedan with the M-sport kit, and that was a very cool car...

n78001441_30283434_8500.jpg

Oddly enough, I've only got BMWs today, but this one I found especially strange. I believe that there is an E46 330i with the M-sport package, but I've never seen it placed upon the wagon before.

Sightings from April 14, 2007. Not an incredible day as the weekend set records for cold temperatures, but the sightings were still decent. I'm expecting this Saturday, April 21, to be really good - they're predicting 73 and mostly sunny with no rain, making it the first really good-weather Saturday in a couple of months. Anyway:

Alpina
- B7

BMW
- new 3-series convertible [with top up, unlike my 3/31 spot]
- E39 525i, furniture edition

Ferrari
- 550 Maranello (1 2) [Italian plates - truly]
- F430 (1 2)

Lamborghini
- Gallardo (1 2 3)

Lotus
- Elise
- Elise

Maserati
- Quattroporte Sport GT

Maybach
- 57S (1 2)

Porsche
- 911 Turbo [997]

Rolls-Royce
- Phantom

Highlights:

elise-041407.jpg

The last few weekends I have been lamenting (to myself, of course) about how common Lotus Elises have become. Here's a shot of one in the foreground and one in the background which I didn't even know was in the shot until I uploaded it to my computer. That is the coincidence of the day.

baur_e21_3-series-041407.jpg

This is an E21 3-series with the factory authorized Baur convertible conversion. Essentially, these things don't exist and you won't see one ever. I'll never see another. Hell, I probably didn't even see this one. I'm so glad I got this shot - only a 4,600 were made (worldwide) originally, and almost 30 years later they've got to be down to the absurd levels - hundreds maybe.

murcielago-041407-8.jpg

Um, hell yes? Florida plate 'V1P'. The owner had moved to Atlanta that morning from Orlando. Other shots: 1, 2. Sadly, not an LP640 - but it is my ninth Murcielago spot. Beautiful car.

EDIT: fantastic pictures while I was away - this thread is valuable without my presence and only slightly improved by it - keep up the good work!!

:grumpy: Now the car scavenger hunt's going to be no contest.

 We'll see what happens - it's not going to be spectacularly easy, even for me - I see a lot of exotics, but other stuff might be a bit tougher.

So, I thought you were permabanned, what happened?

I told them I had a shot of a Baur E21 convertible so they let me back.

That is a nice F430 you spotted there M5, same goes for the Elise. But I'm not sure about the orange Murcielago...

Yeah about the Focus 'R'. Its parked outside my house everyday these days so pic's shouldnt be a problem; in fact:

So.. i noticed the 'R' was a Honda 'R' colored blue. Tommorow or day after, ill try get one big, clear shot of the Focus and see what type of stuff it brings up here....

So is the Karmann rare? I know its on GT4 but in ORANGE!?!? :scared:

Yep. Sounds fantastic too. I saw one last Sunday in Bothwell* when I was out on my bike. I think I'll take a detour up the street it came out of next time I'm up that way, and see if I can find where it lives.

* Holdenvtshsvgtstypergti will know where that is. AFAIK, there are a few Rangers/Celtic footballers stay in that area, so it could be one of theirs.

This thread is worthless without Doug.

Just for that, I'll be passing my Concorso photos on to another site.

That's just an incredibly disrespectful post to those of us who enjoy taking photos. Your comment about the "Car Scavenger Hunt being no contest" fits the same bill.
Hope your happy.

Thank god M5's back, now we have a whole slew of awesome spottings.

yep theres silly level of fancy cars in the bothwell/uddingston area, youll need to let me know the street ;)

They aren't outstandingly 'rare' overall, but it isn't nearly as common as the Beetle that it was based upon. That being said, I don't see the Karmann too often outside of the Summer here in Michigan, but when I went to Mexico a few years ago, there were quite a few down in there.

...Which reminds me: If you have seen Kill Bill Volume 2, Black Momba (Uma Thurman) has one in the movie, and if I recall correctly, it is a teal convertible. They made them as coupes and convertibles, although I usually see more coupes than anything else. My suspicion is that depending on the weather in your general location will largely decide what type of car is most like to been seen.

Yeah...that F430 is quite shiny...

And parked at the Ritz-Carlton. Local plates, but a 'Ferrari of Beverly Hills' frame.

This one had a custom exhaust (I believe Tubi but I don't know much about aftermarket parts) and as such was the loudest Murcielago I had ever heard. When the valet finally turned it off it was as if the area returned to a calm that we had taken for granted in prior minutes. Truly stunning.

YSSMAN

Agree - although the Karmann Ghia is rare as hell anywhere. Since I came to Atlanta in August I've seen precisely one. Wikipedia claims 455,000 were made in a 20-year period but millions of old Beetles were made, and they're a monthly spot at best. Cars age poorly as a rule. By the way, I've never seen an E46 330iT Sport either. Weird.

By the way, I've never seen an E46 330iT Sport either. Weird.

Quite frankly, I've never heard of it before either. I see now that I've done a bit of research that they only came as 325i models, and if I am correct in assuming it is a 2006, it only came with AWD. So it would lead me to believe that the owner swapped-on the M3-style wheels and the M-Sport front grille. I didn't even think enough to go back and take a photo of the rear-hatch, as I was too focused on eating my Jr. Bacon cheeseburger and getting back to school for class.

It wouldn't surprise me though. I took that picture at a Wendy's thats about five minutes from where I grew up, an area that is becoming extensively wealthy. So I wouldn't put it beyond some parent, or some kid, go about customizing their 325xi Wagon...

Another fine day with some decent pics:
