Maybe up north and on the east coast, but they're in extremely low value here, under $25,000 for 4 out of every 5.
 
That's a lot of money for a 1993 Jimmy, non Typhoons are worth no more then about 2 grand. Also given that they were 26k brand new they really have held there value well over 14 years.

Good spot - I'd kill for an on-the-road shot from a European member. Extremely rare cars and, of course, non-existent in the States.

The original MSRP over fifteen years ago was under $30,000. They're averaging ~$15k in general, but that's pretty incredible considering, as Joey mentioned, non-Typhoons are lucky to bring in $2000. Also, the average Typhoon that brings in $15k is a 90,000 mile car - imagine daily driving a vehicle and only losing half its value in fifteen years!
 
@ X5, where did you see that Porsche Gmund? thats a pretty rare car compared to the 356 and I've only ever seen a handful of those...

One could say the first production Porsche was the 1898 System Lohner-Porsche electric motor carriage, co-designed and built by Ferdinand Porsche. :)

The first car built by Porsche as a company was the Porsche 64 built in 1938, but you are right, the 1948 Porsche 356 was the first official production car from the car company. :)

Which is what I meant, but you knew that already:sly: Some say the No.1 was the first but I would differ since there was only one, and it was sold privately to friends of the family. (It was later returned to the Porsche family with some minor changes) The Gmund 356 along with 356 No.1 and the original 911 are IMO some of the most elegant designs in history

Very true, and it is easy to recognize many of the similar styling and engineering cues taken from Dr. Porsche's most famous car, the Volkswagen Type I Beetle.

For me though, the Porsche 550 Spyder is my favorite early classic from Porsche. It took the 356 where it needed to be! :)👍
 
The Syclone, it's supposed to hit 60 in 5 seconds while the Typhoon did it in 5.3

If my understanding of the Holden lineup is correct, that is a VZ-chassis Holden Commodore with all the HSV fixins, in GTS form. If I'm understanding the car correctly, the GTS had a 400 BHP version of the LS1 V8 found in the Corvette matched to a six-speed Temec T-56 manual. However, there were quite a few updates to the GTS model, and I have no idea what model range that one is in...

Its a new-ish Nissan 350Z Roadster, of which is seen very rarely here in Grand Rapids. This one appeared to have a bit of kit on it, as the wheels and suspension didn't seem to be stock, but given how old the guy is, its probably fairly likely he just happened to get this one off the lot.

Less than three minutes later, I stumbled upon this gem...

1) Its an R-Class, when hasn't been too popular here in the US, much less here in Grand Rapids.
2) Its a 4MATIC, and given that the majority are normally RWD it would seem, that narrows it down further.
3) Its a diesel, and that has to put it in a category of less than 2000 models in the US.

On a personal note: I like the R-Class, and I'd love to have an R550, and I've even attempted to convince my Grandfather to get one (to no avail of course). Its hard to explain why I like it to someone who hasn't been in one, but all I can say is that the overall 'strangeness' combined with the 'cool' ideas inside and out create an interesting vehicle, that at least in my mind, would be worth having...

its a VT commodore imported by a company called LSV which could fit them with a optional supercharger taking it from the standard 400bhp in that gts to 507 in the GTS-R

The person who helps me work on my cars happens to be a mechanic at Euromotorcars and got a speacial offer on an R320 CDI just like that one, its probably one of the most useful non-trucks I've ever driven, pretty damn fast too.
 
The thing is, you never see them around here. Come to think of it, the only other R-Classes I've seen here in Grand Rapids are normally found in the Forest-Hills area where I grew-up, and most of those are the origional R500s.

...Being a diesel though, that cranks the rarity meeter up from 8 to 11...
 
Saw a Ferrari 288 GTO today beautiful cars sadly don't have any photo evidence but for some strange reason it was burgundy :crazy: .
 
On the motorway I saw

the usual couple of astons, bentleys etc.

IN liverpool a maserati cuope floored it past me.

Surprisingly I didn't see our neighbors 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible. Kinda odd.
 
Been on a 300 miles trip today purely for my best mate.

Several interesting sightings turned up along the way, but no pics as i was driving all the time :irked: but i'll add some background.

edit: oops, next time i'll remember to add the list! (only the best sightings, many more not so significant ones, eg. F355)

Jaguar MK.2:
In black, so not the one i saw about a year ago (red), pulled up into tesco as i was leaving, looked to be in fairly decent shape, lovely old motor :)

MG V8:
First one of these ive ever seen, spotted it from a way back, all i could tell was the shape of the rear quarter wasnt quite that of any other MG i'd seen before, though fairly similar. So i slowed down whilt passing and noticed the V8 badge on the back. British racing green with original wheels.

Shelby GT350:
Possibly (more than likely) a replica, sat on the back of a truck being hauled along to a track day at snetterton probably. white with blue stripes gave it away from a fair distance, though i still couldnt believe my eyes as i passed it. Seeing these things while driving can be quite dangerous, as all attention to the road gets diverted thier direction!

Lotus esprit V8 x2:
Unbelieveable car, both of them were on the opposite side of the road, first was the black one, kinda surprised me since ive only ever seen one before today! That thing looks so damn sexy in black :drool:
the yellow one was a lot closer to home, and also made more noise, had the window open at that point so i could really appreciate the roar of that beautiful engine! :D

BMW 2002 Convertible:
An odd little car thats for sure, didnt really see much of it as it was travelling in the opposite direction on single carriageway. i think it was orange, but im not sure since mostly all i saw was the tail lights, plus i had done about 250 miles of driving and plenty of walking by that point, sure as hell was knackered. Had to have my mate take over driving because i was starting to really get tired, didnt want to risk falling asleep at the wheel.

You've proved that you physically can.

When you're driving, your attention and concentration should be on driving. Your attention shouldn't be on a wee screen as you try to point a camera at, and take a photo of, another car.

I can think of worse things, like eating, shaving, talking on a cell phone, reading, trying to get stock quote on your Blackberry, etc. Taking a 1 second picture is fine and most of the time I'm stopped when I take the photos. I see no harm in it.

That's fine. I'm sure the person you run into, or run over, will see it that way too.
 
I don't think you realize American roads are worlds different the European roads.

I also do not take my eyes off the road while taking a picture, as you can see all of my pictures have been from behind the vehicle.
