http://apexracingleague.com/entry.php?69-Gymkhana-Uncovered-Dirt-3-Applauded!

Very awesome read on the game. I'm actually liking this part as well

"Towards the end of the day I took part in a multiplayer session of a mode called Outbreak. At the start one of the cars becomes 'infected' and that car is glowing green. The player has to try to infect as many others as he can be making contact and the others are trying to remain 'healthy' for as long as they can. This is effectively a destruction derby game with a twist and it will be a hit!"

zombie rally cars!?

What the hell is that "outbreak mode"? Destruction derby with infected cars? Looks like a fps deathmatch with rally cars... weird.

The video tinram posted explains it all - it's a game of tag. One car is "infected" (basically, "it"), and the objective is to tag the other cars as quickly as possible. The objective for the other cars is to remain free of "infection" for as long as possible. It's basically a party game. Kind of reminds me of the "greatballsof" cheat in COLIN McRAE 2.0 that enabled cars in arcade more to shoot fireballs that threw the other cars around the circuit like rag dolls.

I hope the right analog stick controls the camera, because playing these sorts of games where you have to look out for other cars is extremely frustrating without being able see what's around you.

That's just going to be bloody difficult. Independent camera control worked great in FINAL FANTASY XII, but in DIRT 3, you'll be travelling at speed in close confines. It's not going to be too good if you swing the camera around to check for others, only to crash into something and get tagged.

i would know if i had the game. and interludes, it's not difficult at all. it's worse without it. a game like GT obviously won't need it, but games like this where you require making contact with other cars will.

Pardon the double-post, but I found this video of a rally stage (or possibly two) in Norway with the new MINI Countryman WRC. Reminds me of the Top Gear race between a rally Evo and a bobsleigh. You'll see why.

That stage also reminds me of the Top Gear Bobsleigh race.

Anyway, it's great to see that snow stages are making a comeback, i've always liked the Swedish rally stages that were in previous McRae Rally games, so the Norway Rally in DiRT 3 should be a blast as well. Hopefully i'll be able to watch the follow-up to that video when it's uploaded later.

The car gets frost and snow build up during the race, looks amazing.

I can only imagine that snow/dirt build up will appear by how long you've been driving (in a programmer's point of view), because it would be a lot of work to calculate the snow or dirt being kicked up onto the side of the car.
If my hypothesis is true, If we could edit the game, bring the car off the ground and hold it there for a minute with the gas pedal to the floor, we'd see dirt/snow build up when it hasn't touched the ground at all

cool footage of Kenya unlike the posted ones

Can't wait to see how their wheel calibration is with the game. It will be soooo much fun.

Dang less than a month away...still no amazon listing or any preorder bonus to speak of anywhere....,

I have found scant little on google with regard to wheel compatability. Will DiRT3 support the Thrustmaster T500 RS (or vice versa)?

$300 Dirt 3 Limited Edition comes with a very very nice RC Car, a lot of money though!

Wow, that looks awesome, but because I invested the big bucks for the Thrustmaster T500 RS, I have no regrets in getting the standard edition.

I'm going to pre-order that package on my next payday (if there's any left) and just slowly pay on it until it comes out.

I take part of a forum-based time-attack competition where we try to be the fastest on a randomly selected event for Hot Pursuit 3. It's a friendly competition so there are no prizes involved. It's been keeping me playing the game months now.

When this game is released, does anyone want to have a similar competition here???
