DLC are too expensive ?

I'm sure Sony had a big say when it came down to DLC. Either way, it only betters the game imo.

I have to say this logic is flawed mate. So what if the track was in a previous version of the game? PD still has to pay for the license to use the track. Unless otherwise stated in the licensing agreement, the license to use a track or car, doesn't carry over from one game to the next. Seeing as we didn't see the track at release, we can assume with a fair amount of certaincy that PD did not have the license for it.

I'm almost 100 % certain that it costs more for PD to buy a license, than it does to model the track.

Back on topic. I won't be buying Motegi. It's too expensive IMO, espicially considering that Spa was less expensive. Not to mention that Spa simply looked better graphics wise.

I think you mis-read what I said, I'll quote:

"Brand new tracks, I don't mind paying for BUT existing tracks from previous games should be free. These days will never come though, except for the one or two they throw at us."

I know things require licenses, hence "these days will never come". It was a personal opinion with no factual base.

DLC TOO EXPENSIVE? Do something about it.

This is gonna become a meme wildfire.

And is DLC too expensive?

The last one was a bit much, maybe $3 at most, but I'm not one to penny pinch on small stuff.

its £4 , how cheap does it have to be?

What a measly £4 will buy you

20 minutes in an arcade or
a Mcdonalds meal or
3 beers
etc etc etc.

or Motegi that if u buy it youll probably spend hours and hours on

and before anyone says yh but all the DLC's together add up for an expensive game, the bottom line is if there wasnt DLC a lot of people would stop playing GT5, go out and spend £20 - £40 on a brand new game.

Half the community moans about not enough DLC the other half moans about the price

Do you guys have all the tracks and car packs ? Maybe I'm too cheap, or because I'm 17 and won't use my parents credit car for useless use..

I have none. That is just because there is so much cars already in game that I do not have in my garage and I do not have enough time to play.

It wasnt the price that was in question it was wether it was worth the price for what you got ok lets go with the three beers say its 12 quid for three beers ok its only 12 quid but is it worth the 12 quid.

That's the same thing. A lot of people were complaining that the DLC wasn't worth the $5 and were comparing it to the Spa DLC. So it was the price in question that people were complaining about, that it wasn't worth the money for something sub-par (in their opinion). If they charged $1 for the track, I bet more people would be willing to pay, $5 on the other hand, now is when you need to find the tracks worth.

How can it be the same thing your saying its not much money when im saying it may not be much money but you need to think if its worth that small amount of money.

BUT the price is in question here. Re-read my last post, the part I quoted that I put in bold. You said "It wasnt the price that was in question it was wether it was worth the price for what you got" This is the part I was referring to.

So if the price isn't the problem, if not what is it, that you don't get much?

This is really just splitting hairs. Either way you look at it, it's about pricing. The content wasn't much, for the price, some didn't care, some found every justifiable reason not to spend the money.

My mistake rereading that im wondering how i read that differently my bad.

DLC price in Canada =

1 Domestic beer at a restaurant/pub or
3 Tim Horton's Coffees or
1 Sausage/Egg McMuffin combo or
1 Used pair of shorts for working, from the local used clothing store or
.9 Gallons of gas or
3 Chocolate bars

Yep, that sure is an outrageous price for the DLC:sly:

I pondered this earlier today. If you were selling your car, simply washing it, throwing out pop cans and McDonalds cups, and then vacuuming up the fries and dead bugs from the back window would get you one price. But if you had the car detailed, fully serviced with oil change, radiator flush, tranny fluid change, brake pads & shoes replaced, took care of that slop in the steering rack, replaced the bald tires, replaced that leaky power steering hose, and had the dead skunk scraped from underneath, you would be able to sell it for more.

Motegi was a quick clean up. Whereas High Speed Ring in GT5p was a complete reworking of the track. PD fell short with Motegi and hopefully Kaz doesn't really think we like the idea of paying a premium price for a quick wash and wax of an old track. Having day night cycles AND rain would have made the $5 a no brainier.

Good analogy, I like it.

In my eyes 5 bucks is worth it but almost ten for australia and nz im wondering if it is.

thought Spa was worth every penny (+ it included Kart space, which honestly sucks for racing but is nice eye candy), tbh i don't think Motegi was - only the East course version is remotely interesting and it's not even that great a track - the other 2 versions are utter rubbish

anyway i bought it coz more tracks the merrier. i just hope if there are new tracks in the future, they pick some good ones -> hockenheim, silverstone, imola, road america, watkins glen, jerez, estoril etc... even that new F1 Track in India looks interesting - just hope they avoid boring tracks like Korea, Valencia, Bahrain, any type of oval etc...

Sigh, not this again. Stop comparing consumable goods to non-consumable goods, it's not fair.

This.

Are the DLC to expensive? It depends on your opinion.

Right. Eutecnyx charges Xbox people $2 for a patch. While us PS3 people were not charged for the same patch.

DLC can be abused.

£4 for one track and most of it if not all of it has been imported straight from GT4, You can get GT5 for about £15 with dozens of tracks and about 1000 cars. You get the feeling PD decided not to include the track in the full game just so they can charge us extra for it. Yes we may have got the Scion free but come on it's just a Toyota with a Scion badge.

But a good is a good nonetheless. I don't see why consumables shouldn't be put together with non-consumables. You are paying for utility/satisfaction in the end, whether it's one-time use or not.

If anyone finds that DLC is too expensive for your liking, here's a quick tip, be thrifty for a day or two. Instead of a coke, just get water with your meal. Instead of Starbucks, make your own instant coffee. Instead of going to the movies with your friends, stay home and go on GTP. You can easily save a few bucks for the DLC without too much of a sacrifice.

As for those who say that the DLC isn't worth the price, that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. Just remember that no matter how many times you voice out your opinion, PD/Sony isn't going to change their pricing strategy to your liking. So why not put that effort into making/saving those couple dollars instead?

The way I see it, nothing is too expensive or not worth the price if you have the money to pay for it.

Why would anyone charge that much?

Be realistic here bro.

People on iRacing are willing to pay $100 for Nurburgring. Yes, one hundred US dollars.

Not to go off topic too far, but its about conditioning. Our gas was $1.80 when Obama took office. It went up to over $4.50 and has come down to over $3.50 despite oil being $80. People stopped caring about the price of gas. Those people have become conditioned and don't notice we are being screwed.

This generation of gaming has been all about DLC. As long as people keep buying it, they will keep putting it out there. What iRacing is doing doesn't help the cause of "put the content on the damned disc and don't wait for later to release it".

Every popular track I'm the history of Gran Turismo should've been on the GT5 disc. If PD had decent communications with their base, they would've taken a poll or something to find out what we want. I fear now we are in the early stages of a spin cycle of old GT tracks coming at a price with no tangible improvement.

Hopefully PD/SONY had a specific target for quantity of sales of Motegi and we failed to meet it. Which would lead to a significant drop in price for old and unimproved tracks as DLC.

iRacing can't really be applied to Gran Turismo's case. With iRacing you have to pay a subscription fee to even play the damn thing. With GT5 you have the option of buying DLC or not, and only having to pay once up front for the game. The people who buy iRacing are far more hardcore to justify their subscriptions.

Which why I said paying $500 is not realistic. iRacing and GT maybe in the same market, but the average customer for GT is far more casual and less hardcore than iRacing's, and are not that willing to fork out that much, unless they have too much money to deal with. For 5 bucks, yeah, but for hundreds? No sir.

And the last time gas was $1.80 was when I was 13. I wish it were that though.

I know that it isn't realistic or smart to buy a overpriced DLC for 500$.

Well it is true what he said, in general that is.

That's why Lamborghini can still keep selling cars with six figure price tags.

When a simple Scion can them from point a to point b.:)
