DLC in GT5???

I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want new cars and tracks after GT5 comes out...

C'mon people, to those that think DLC should all be Free..... Get a little real! would you do your job for free!!!??

GT4 is entertainment that has lasted years, throughout that period it would have been fantastic to be able to get new cars to play with, but you can't expect Kaz and PD to sit there developing the game for free!!!

Someone above was talking about costs and volumes - it's a good point, with the sales GT5 will get, updates need be no more than one or two £$€...

... if GT5 does not get lots of DLC cars and tracks, free or otherwise, supported for a year or four after release then I will be hugely disappointed.. the selection of real cars available was what made GT1 the sucess it was, and furthered it with GT2, GT3 and 4 brought us to expect impeccable graphics and (arguably) the most realistic physics out there... PD should focus on this... DLC FTW

uh...YES?
We have waited for so long and we still don't know when the game will be released, in the meantime Turn10 satisfy thousands of fans all over the world with forza motorsport full games (I dont want to buy a new console to have some fun)
I got my HDTV I got my PS3 I got my DFGT I got my HT 5.1 .....I spent a lot of money and I was hoping, we were all hoping, to hear from PD but nothing, I still dont have what I need to play....the game. I could have waited to buy my hardware and save some cash (in the meantime prices DROPPED, obviously)

they should compensate us for the delay with free dlc
I dont care. The full price of a videogame on a single bluray disc is enough.

What delay's? In order for there to be a delay there has to be a deadline which there hasn't been. So far it has just been a bunch of people saying "where is our game, it should be here by now"

Also, the fact you payed for all that stuff when you did is your problem not PD's. You should have waited for an official release date before you spent that amount of money.

You know that they'll put as many cars / tracks / features into the game as they can, just like the other games, all DLC would be is if at a later date after they've shipped the game they design some new tracks of model some more cars for the game, and i think that it's perfectly fair to expect some money for that, since they're certainly not required to do it.

What i am against at the moment is games releasing say 4 new cars and charging £2.39 for them or whatever the odd price is... If they're at a logical price point then i'd have no reservations in buying them, and that comes from someone who barely ever pays for DLC.

On another note, though, how do you not have a credit or debit card these days? I'm only 16 and i've just set up a Visa Electron for myself so i can buy things online, it's not really painstaking or anything...

I knew you'd say that
but as I said I dont care. I wouldn't pay a dime for DLC

Wow, there are some real crybabies in the world today. PD owe us nothing; equally, we owe them nothing! We should be honoured that they even consider our opinions; the cynics amongst us would say that they only do that to best figure out how to bleed us of more cash. That's business, as has been said, and that's what drives the world we live in. That said, I think we all know that Kaz and the crew appreciate the people who have played their games over the years.

Anyway, I agree that GT5 should be fully featured when released; any features that don't make the cut or happen to pop up in the future should be free. Extra content, on the other hand, is not necessary to enjoy the game; that is, extra aftermarket parts, cars, tracks, music whatever... If you're gullible enough to think you need those extra things, then you deserve to pay for them.

Myself, I would definitely pay for a "Circuits of GTs Past" track-pack, that brings all tracks from previous games up to GT5 standard and fills in the gaps of the release version. With it, some older championships could be brought back, perhaps. Those that complain about "having" to then complete these extra championships should get a life. It's a game, get over your obsession with "winning"... :sly:

Needed that rant. Carry on.

Have you guys seen how much crap EA has in the PSN Store today for Tiger Woods 10? THAT is why DLC is NOT good for gaming. Paying $7.50 for a course that should have been in the $60 game that just came out yesterday!

That is EA a third party game. First party games normally don't cut out of the game to sell it as DLC.

I'm 100% against that, but it's EA, so what do you expect?

There are those greedy companies that crap on the consumer (EA) and those that say thank you and treat us kindly (Studio Liverpool, for example (at least in the main - was a bit miffed at the WipEout Pulse packs, though in fairness they were very cheap for what you got compared to some you see these days)), and i would like to think that Polyphony would fall into the kind category :p

... but if PD develops a GT6 version as a seperate game, will all your downloads be lost or should it be possible to use the downloads from GT5 into GT6?

i dont think there will be a "GT6" per say.. not on the PS3 i think GT5 will evolve as the PS3 gets older.. and GT5 at the end of the PS3's life will be nothing like the GT5 were getting soon..

I voted yes.

Why not I asked myself because it can only improve the game. Obviously when GT5 is released I want a full game but to be honest I will pay any amount for GT5 and the same applies to DLC. When it comes to GT5 money is no object.

The only thing I will say is I hope when GT5 updates or DLC are released this doesn't mean a wipe of the scoreboards. It would become very tiresome to keep losing your leaderboard positions especially the sheer number their is likely to be on GT5!!

I guess you're right. But not so long ago, I read an interview with KY and he said something about GT6, so I thought that he wants to create a next GT, => GT6.

You could be right though, that, if theres is going to be a GT6, it will not be on the PS3.

If people are willing to pay $156 a year in subscription fees for iRacing, there should be plenty of people who'd pay $5-10 a pop for extras in GT5. Just saying.

I'm not keen on the way some devs seem to hold back content from a game that could have been released straightaway, the DLC for Ferrari Challenge smacks of this.
But if done right it could be good, like adding cars as and when a manufacture puts a new model out. Maybe some map packs would be nice, for instance all the BTCC circuits that type of thing.

I would Love it, Unless if it's free. And I hate when we would have to pay for something that can be implanted in the game during the making. URG!!!

It's hardly PD's fault that you jumped the gun.

Humans are humans, We make mistakes and regret doing or buying things. While we wait for PD to finish there Homwework we should all be tuning our cars to the best in GT5p to become better racers for The full game when it comes out. We have all the time to do just so.
p.s. Let PD Do there HomeWork and get an A+, remember the more time PD take the better it gets.

I wouldnt mind paying a few bucks for a couple of cool tracks and cars (at least a few good ones... ferrari, lamborghini, or perhaps.... PORSCHE)... PD could make a decent amount of money if they did offer DLC's in the Playstation Store when GT5 does come out....

You made a mistake in your sentence here. :D
That'd be ideal, but it's not likely. I expect we will have to pay for DLC but as long as the price is reasonable and that none of the DLC is content we would have otherwise got on the disk then that's fair enough. Companies shouldn't be allowed to hold content back specifically to release as chargable DLC though, I think that's criminal.

if they make them like pokemon packs im all game. 5 dud's 2 faster cars 1, rare bad ass race car. around 6.99 (like most other) im game.

Brings back sooo many old memories of the childhood years  haha
but i would rather know what i am buying if i were to download a car, so i wouldnt have to buy like 5 packs of "mystery cars" before i got the one car i wanted.... it might get kind of annoying after a while :banghead: .....
