Hey all...

Whats up with the VW's in the new DLC having steering wheel on the right hand side? Last time i checked VW is no Japanese or British or Australian or etc...

Is this a bug?

Cars, especially Volkswagens, are sold worldwide. So they come in both right-hand and left-hand side versions.

Well VW is a German car, I believe they drive on the right side.(I think it is a German version)

If it's listed as a German car shouldn't it be presented as it is in it's home market?

The reason I ask that is because they have a trend of doing so with other models that are sold in multiple markets.

Yes they drive on the right side of the road. But that means the driver would sit on the left side. Your comment can be interpreted in two ways.

So yes, in germany they drive left hand drive cars.

As I mentioned in another thread, the steering wheel is on the right side because the two VW's we see in the game are the detuned versions that is sold in Australia, Japan, and South Africa, hence why it's RHD.

And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that it comes in both LHD or RHD since PD models the cars native to it's country (e.g. a Japanese Subaru, and not an Export Subaru).

Short Bus
I think Austria and the UK are the only two European countries that drive on the left.

Did you mean Australia?

Edit: Nevermind, you said European.

Sorry, only in that version.

Well that's just stupid in my humble opinion, i've been waiting for a European DLC cars (after all that Japanese/GTR insanity) mainly because of the the left side steering wheel and now that they finally released one, it's still has the right side damn it, which is not even authentic!

Sorry for the rage, i'm really pissed...

Since the car PD modeled is a JDM VW Scirocco, it is authentic.

I can understand that you'd have preferred the car to be LHD, but does it really matter? I personally don't have any problems switching between LHD and RHD, but maybe I'm just lucky?

i guess you guys need to look up history. vw bug is a german car, and the original bug was right hand drive. my 1st car was a german 53 oval window bug, and yes it was right hand drive, and i bought it of german people who brought it over with them in the last 60's to the US. should of never sold it :[

Let's see, if you can find a car to model without having to fly halfway around the world, common sense says do it. They drive on the left in Japan, so the majority of cars PD models will be right hand drive. It's not wrong.

Senseless post!

What is JDM?
Japanese Domestic...so his post made no sense as VW is "authentically" German. I personally dont care even a little what side its on, but if PD started designing the cars from the domestic, they should continue to do so.

I don't feel confident driving right side steering cars!
After switching back and forth all the time, I dont even really notice it now. If anything, Im more comfortable on the right hand side now due to most of the cars being so. In real life....umm no way lol. steering from that side isnt a huge deal but rather shifting with my left hand (Im right side dominate), clutch with the right foot, and gas with the left lol.....makes my head hurt thinking about it.

The pedal arrangements don't change in most cars, if any, these days.

Ya I noticed the R34 that I saw not too long ago at an auto show had the same pedal setup as we do in the states. What changed and why did some convert...got any idea?

All the countries have been using the clutch-brake-gas setup for a few decades now, I'm not sure exactly when they all decided to do so. I know very old cars used to have their pedals anywhere, like very old (circa 1920s) Alfas had the clutch in between the gas and brake. I guess once companies started selling worldwide they figured it would be better to get one universal pedal arrangement. It's also more efficient for companies to only have to worry with one arrangement, I suppose.

Edit: I'm going to research this tomorrow and let you know what, if anything, I can find.

Makes sense....now we just need everyone to drive on the same side of the road:sly:. I have never driven a right side drive vehicle (hints my ignorance), but would like to try it. Thanks for the info:tup:
