Just thought I'd ask since we had a coach tour from the USA at work recently and they were all very confused by the Weetabix. They enjoyed it, though. 👍

Hmmm....maybe they're called something else?

That wouldn't explain the confusion though

I love Weetabix! The only problem is that it sucks up all the milk even worse than shredded wheat... Well, that, and also it seems that the plastic wrap isn’t quality enough to keep out certain bugs.

I used to crush two Weetabix into a bowl, and then mix in about a tablespoon of sugar, and then eat it like that... it was drier than a witch's tit, but strangely enjoyable!

 A what?

"it was drier than a witch's tit, but strangely enjoyable!"

this could be sigged :sly:

At work I regularly put 3 Weetabix in a bowl, fill the bowl to the brim with milk, then cover the Weetabix with segments of Orange. The Weetabix soak up the milk and go all soggy, and then the Orange sits on top of the much letting the orangey flavour seep in. Might go make some myself now.

What????? So its like a chunk of cereal?

Anyways, theres many things americans dont know about. Try ordering a poutine anywhere in the USA

Count me in with the never-heard-of-it-before group.

Seems like a fair amount of food developed in Australia fails to make it's way to the US.

! I gotta use that one.

Anyway, no, I've never had a wheetabix, but I'm aware of them.

I think the store I work at stocks weetabix in our natural foods section. I will have to look sometime since I never go over there.

What's that for? Tropical contact lenses?

I've heard of Weetabix but never eaten one.

Fruit Saline Ingredients:

Caster Sugar, Sodium Bicarbonate (500), Citric Acid (330), Tartaric Acid (334), Lemon Oil

It's the weirdest stuff ever.

Do you put that on your vegemite?

Is there any difference between Weetabix and Weetbix other than the name?

No nor Vita-Brits, only the sugar content.
I have eaten Weetbix all my life.
Sanitarium, the company that makes them, sponsors the Aussie cricket team. Currently they are running an advert with the catch phrase "How many do you do".

I do 5-6 some mornings:lol:

Sooo......... How many do you do?

You must get at least a few of our foods. One of my relatives (who moved to the US a few years ago) posted this on FB the other day:

It's the 'English Aisle' in her local Target. I don't see any Weetabix, but weirdly there seems to be a demand for Yorkshire Tea...

I've never heard of it, looks interesting. It's like a bowl's worth of cereal stuck together. How do you eat it?
There is aweetabixusa.com. According to weetabix.co.uk, Weetabix entered the US market in 1968, so somebody's heard of it.

On Weet-Bix vs Weetabix:
from wikipedia: ...sold the Australian and New Zealand rights for "Weet-Bix" to Sanitarium ... When they introduced the product to the British market they renamed the product "Weetabix."...

am I bored or what? :dopey:

edit:
It's the 'English Aisle' in her local Target.
English aisle? I'll have to look for that next time I'm in Target.

In truely Aussie fashion when I have weet-bix (Aussie product), which I haven't for quite some time, I don't have them with milk, I put Vegemite on them and eat them like that :D

I do that but then drop them into a bowl of Fosters, and eat them with my Dingo called Bluey.

Not sure if there are "Trader Joe's" stores throughout the US, but they're common over here on the left coast, and you can get Weetabix there.

Love 'em. Great just with milk, but eat them quick while there's still a little crunch.
Good for English winter too when mashed up into some warmed milk.
Used to eat them with sugar or honey on as a kid, but I don't need the extra sweetness nowadays.

@ Jondot, by 'eck there's a demand fer Yorkshire Tea out 'ere, there's nowt quite like a good strong cuppa of t'likes of Yorkshire Gold. :D

Especially after you've experienced the American breakfast "Tea" - a lemon slice & a paper-wrapped bag of Lipton comes on the side of the saucer of a cup of lukewarm water that's somehow supposed to brew itself! :yuck:

Good strong cuppa tea (with a splash of milk ;)) and some Weetabix is a more or less an ideal start to the day! 👍

They recently started opening Trader Joe's here in Minnesota, I have yet to make my way to one as the closest is likr 45 minutes away. I have only heard great things though.

Yeah Coopers is a popular beer here, especially here in South Australia where the brewery is. Silly Victorians (like Casio) likes that Victorian Bitter (VB) garbage, but as far as I know no one within Australia drinks this "Fosters" we see on TV. :p

Though I am not a very good beer critic considering I don't drink it.
