'Cause I swear I just passed by a Four-Two on the way to the store just now...

I didn't think they sold those things over here.

not sure if they sell em in the USA but they are getting quite popular up here in toronto canada. Infact, my neighbor across the street has one. And i know a person at school whos parents drive a smart and a mini :dunce:

They’re not “officially” sold in the U.S. (by DaimlerChrysler, that is). I know that ZAP! has a license to sell them, but I’m not sure if they actually have yet. I suppose the one you saw could’ve been imported from Canada.

That's what I was thinking, too. But I was shocked to see one driving around Texas.. lol. I saw it coming the other way, noted the odd shape, thought "What the hell is that?" Then, right as it went by, I recognized it, and uttered a "WTF's a Smart doing here?!?"

yeah, I saw one in new jersey, on I-95. i was with my dad in his 540i, and this thing passed us, he was doing like 85mph(!). so he was like WTF and floored it to get a better look. it was from Ontario, Canada. thats my little story.

With the US's reputation for big, long, heavy cars it sounds an almost alien concept.

Needless to say, it's probably safer than many American sedans, with it's Tridon safety cage.

Yeah, it's a pretty tough car.

Wonder when we can see a riced smart, with the removable plastic panels it could be great :dopey:

Smarts are everywhere in the Detroit area due to the Chysler Tech Center. They were doing testing I do believe.

Being discontinued next year anyway, aren't they?
I believe we only get the four-two up here as well. I certainly haven't seen either of the others.

I thought they were saved? Basically, they're rescuing the Smart line, thanks to some new capitalization and the advent of the Mitsubishi based Four-Four (is this one right?)... but they're killing the roadster. :(

Damn, and here I had an outside chance of being able to afford the Roadster... :ouch:
