Given that the maximum speed in my state is a laughable 100kmp/h and that cars are able to travel just as safely more than 50kmp/h above the posted speed limit on the majority of roads, it's hard not to.

I stated no.

I can shout at people in my car, but generally laugh right afterwards.

Only very rarely.

Only when I get a big combo of thick morons in a row does my rage ever start to effect my driving. Even then, I never put myself at serious risk. I mean, if I'm stuck behind someone who's speed is fluctuating between 23-40 in a 40. And they decided to make a right turn and not actually use the whole turn lane, leaving me to sit and wait for them to turn. I'll just gun it right past them as soon as a hole opens up. It's stress relieving because I'd like to imagine they could hear my Blazers little V6 screaming past them. That and just generally accelerating much faster than normal feels good and helps relieve some of the stress.

But road rage just doesn't happen when I'm with a friend. Mainly because I can at least make fun of the idiots.

I'm from Michigan, I think we are born with road rage.

Not sure about road rage exactly, but i'm finding myself increasingly less tolerant of idiots on the road. Maybe it's me just getting older. Or maybe there are just more idiots on the road these days.

^ All of this.

It never really manifests itself as anything other than me shouting at the windscreen but I do have a low idiot tolerance on the roads. The most I'll do is a bit of sharp acceleration when I'm finally released from behind a ditherer, or something. Bit of quick stress relief.

I'd say road rage is more of a problem if you put yourself into situations in which you're likely to get it. That sounds obvious, but if you're the sort of person who doesn't incorporate a bit of delay time into a journey just in case you get stuck in a jam, or if you drive aggressively so that even people driving normally are going "too slow" or something, then you do yourself no favours.

The more relaxed you are behind the wheel, the less the occasional idiot will enrage you.

It depends on your expectations for a journey too. I've driven in L.A. and I've driven in Dubai, and didn't get road rage once in either place. If you anticipate that everyone is going to drive like a cretin, then it's less surprising and annoying when they do.

Not really. For daily use I'm with my bike and when I'm on it my brain thinks of nothing else than a constant scan of everything around me. Have no time or will to get enraged and - besides - I don't get stuck behind others.

Travelling with the family is done on a peaceful Renault Espace 2.2 Diesel :sly: hardly a car to get you enraged, more to catch up with the kids. Motorways (or highways I never know) I cruise at 140 kmh and reach any destiny within Portugal (small country :D ) pretty quick.

Having read right through the thread, I'd also add that road rage is probably more or less likely depending on the sort of car you drive.

Not surprised Casio doesn't get road rage as Saabs are comfortable and relaxing to drive, so you're naturally less likely to get stressed. Cars with good ride quality, lots of space, automatic gearboxes, lazy engines etc are all good for reduced stress too. A hard ride, a manual 'box, a revvy engine, general sportiness etc are all more likely to either stress you out or encourage you to drive more aggressively.

I'll have to agree. I drive a Chevy Malibu and it has a soft suspension, big boot(I could fit the bottom seat portion of a la-z-boy recliner in the trunk and still fit some other things in the boot that has a spare tire hidden away), automatic gearbox(4 gears but was a ton better than the ford escort's 4 gears), and the V6 Engine revs under 2K at 65mph speed limit. I always feel like I'm driving at 30mph while doing 65mph. The 2002 Ford Escort I had before it broke down(stalled and dead when the piston rod punched a hole in the engine. I have a hatred for the car) was really bad for the stress and the thing felt like I was driving faster than 65mph(bad sort of way).

I wouldn't do any sort of physical harm, but I'm not afraid to shout or flip the bird at people who drive 20mph under the limit or take a QTR mile just to get to 50.

God, yes. Too much of it, in fact. And I'm a very calm guy in general.

The problem is that I'm always worried about travelling fast, respecting the other drivers and not getting in their way (keeping traffic fluid, etc). And then you're constantly rewarded with people who don't pay any attention and have no respect whatsoever. Or people that are just plain stupid.

It get on my nerves real bad.

Also, I'm always paying lots of attention predicting what other people will do, and usually guess their acts beforehand... This adds a lot to my road rage.

So yeah, I have road rage.

You're 13, you don't drive yet, so you can't have road rage. You have a complaint with Gran Turismo.

If the topic doesn't apply to you, and you have nothing to offer...don't post.

...I get it from my dad. I don't like people effing around, and that makes me mad enough.

And by the way, I do drive, just not on roads.

Perhaps he doing it within a game? 💡

Thank you for telling the world you drive illegally, CY. [/shakes head]

You can drive legally. I'm 13, and did some thing at Mercedes Benz World where I was put in an A-Class and drove round a track. Great fun.

drove round a track.
A track it not a public road and as long as the owner of said track didn't care, you're free to drive on it at 13, much like kids driving trucks on the family farm. Try that on a public road, however, and see how far you get.

And yes, I rage. More so without the kids. :O

I wasn't planning to drive on a public road. Not till I'm 17 anyway.

It's only illegal on the road.

And thus if you have road rage, it's because you're annoyed with other drivers who aren't following the laws of the road, which you are not a part of, because:

1) You aren't on a public road.
2) Other drivers aren't following any rules, either...because by your definition, there aren't any.
3) You have zero hours of legitimate on-road driving experience.

Spare us your wrath due to our collective driving stupidity, before your teacher finds out that you're not paying attention in class.

I must contradict.

First of all, I'm homeschooled, and I'm done with the day already.
Second, when I'm with my dad and I hear all the f-bombs, I totally understand why. I have absolutely no patience with n00bs/ignorant people.

Noobs or newbies, meaning people just getting started. Shouldn't you count yourself among them?

I've been driving for five years.

I started out driving the four wheeler, then worked my way up to vehicles.

No road rage beyond the occasional horn, but it never ceases to amaze me how many impatient people there are out there.

Last night on the way home some little Pontiac Sunfire came blazing up behind me (speeding by at least 20 km/h over the limit) and tried to pass me on the left side, even though I was in the leftmost lane on my side and there was a solid yellow line. Lucky for him (and me, I suppose), he realized his folly quick enough and darted back over the other way - no signals - and blasted by me on the other side.

You just have to shake your head, and I like it when people like that are far, far away from me!
