I can't figure out how people DON'T get p'd off by this stuff. Some of this is stuff that is potentially fatal, I know I wouldn't walk away happy...

No road rage beyond the occasional horn, but it never ceases to amaze me how many impatient people there are out there.

Last night on the way home some little Pontiac Sunfire came blazing up behind me (speeding by at least 20 km/h over the limit) and tried to pass me on the left side, even though I was in the leftmost lane on my side and there was a solid yellow line. Lucky for him (and me, I suppose), he realized his folly quick enough and darted back over the other way - no signals - and blasted by me on the other side.

You just have to shake your head, and I like it when people like that are far, far away from me!

If someone is coming on you fast in the outter left lanes, thus the passing lane, that's your cue to get over. I typically flash my lights to signal people to get over if I'm coming up on you too fast.

I've been driving for five years.

I started out driving the four wheeler, then worked my way up to vehicles.

You've been driving, sure. Not on the road. The biggest danger on the road is other drivers, and driving an old truck around on the farm isn't going to help that.

To each their own, but at least I'll know how to operate and drive a vehicle by then.

I have no doubt you're a capable driver, I just doubt you'll be as good on public roads as you think you will. Look, I'm 17, you're 13, I'm a new driver, and you will be in a few years. In the grand scheme of things, I suck at driving, and so will you when you're 17. When you're 16-17 and get your license, you could be the best young driver the world has ever seen, and you'll still suck compared to an average 30-something because of it. It's not even our fault really, teenagers' brains simply aren't fully developed, we can't judge speed, distance, space, or direction as well as an adult, because our brains just can't do it yet. There's also that invincibility complex that you're displaying right now.

I'm not saying you'll go out and cause a big accident the first day you can drive, I'm just saying be careful about getting arrogant because you drove trucks around on the farm. I drove ATV's and trucks around when I was younger too, but public roads with oncoming traffic at speeds of 100km/h is a completely different ball game. Again, I'm sure you're a perfectly fine driver, and I'm sure you'll be fine when you're 16, just don't be arrogant about driving because you've driven on the farm. Really, that advantage disappears in a couple months of a learner's permit.

I voted yes, but it's not because of things on the road exactly. Yesterday we had a bunch of religious propaganda on the windshield of our car FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU! I had to go out and rip it off. It's the little things like that that anger me. I'm completely chill with other drivers on the road that make mistakes. It happens. I guess you could say I have Off-road rage.

Well, normally I would sit in the right lane, but it's a relatively busy road during rush hour and from the time I enter the road to the time I need to get off is only a few hundred feet, so I generally get over as soon as I can so I don't miss my turn. If people have to sit behind me for a few seconds then so be it.

I learned to operate a car (Fiat 127 :D ) when I was 11 years old. Just a few meters in a straight line, with my older brother by my side. Birthday present from him.

("...Start engine, press clutch pedal, engage 1st gear, release clutch pedal, slowly slowly ... slightly press throttle pedal ... ok .... we're off ...

(seconds later)
... ok now press clutch pedal again, gently press brake pedal also (THUMP) I said GENTLY! Now desengage 1st gear back to neutral ... (THUMP) ... *sigh* you shouldn't have take the foot of the clutch pedal ... ok, 1st lesson over, Happy birthday litle bro ..." )

:D

At the age of 13 / 14 year I was the one happily washing all the cars in the family, that was my chance to maneuver them back and forth.

And I'll say this. All I learned before I could legally drive in public roads was very important for me to be at ease with cars very early. I remember my mother saying I was a "natural", but indeed it was my older brother's work and I thank him for that.

I just wanted to kick some idiots head in that was driving a 4x4.

He was honking and yelling at me as I waited for an approaching ambulance to pass.

Why do people who drive these cars(road illegal in my view) act like this?

Here is the road where I was at.
rdrage.png

Yellow lines are road dividers
Light Cyan are lane dividers
Purple arrows are the direction that lane must go
Light green box is the idiot
Green box is my car
Orange triangle is ambulance(4 car lengths behind)
Black is gutter or island
I was told wait for any emergency vehicle to pass.
If he was infront I can't think what may have happened, and this is why insurance premiums are so high cause of idiots like him.

Yoicks! Greyfox, you were correct.
This person must have just stepped off the boat. Or the rules of the land must have been foreign to him.
In Toronto, unless the person was completely unware of the sirens and/or flashing lights, every one comes to a dead stop. If we can make it the side of the road quick, we do. Most drivers seeing others halt usually follow suit. No one really wants to be seen as an idiot. Emergency Vehicles need access any which way they can safely manoeuver to the site of the problem. That may mean cutting right through your supposed right of way.
This idiot may have not realised it but they could have been rushing to his burning home, or relative that had been struck down.
Most road rage is caused by impatience.

Not anymore, used to big time but it's water of a ducks back to me now.

Well without being rude it's because you're 13.
When you grow up you'll get it, trust me. Not being a smart arse just saying.

Cheers Shaun.
