I love it, its actually sounds very good when racing, it even helps with shifting. Do any of you play with head phones?

I usually do ya. Only because I play late at night after work and I don't want to wake my family. I agree though, the sound is very nice with headphones.

Sometimes, when I'm really lucky, my wife will be gone somewhere with my daughter and I'll get to play it with the sound cranked out my 5.1 surround. That's just mind blowing.

I do sometimes. When the wife is watching TV or movies I have to wear them to hear my car (shifting purposes). My race setup is closer to the main TV than the couch is.

It does sound very good. It's a little more realistic in the fact that the only thing you can hear is the car (as if you were really inside it)

What kind of headphones are you guys using??

Audiotechnica AD-700, sounds much better than with speakers. Great headphones for music or gaming.

How do you plug them into your ps3 though? use the extra audio out + a rca to 3.5mm converter? Wouldnt that mean u have no volume control?

I always use headphones. I use a 26 inch samsung monitor for the computer and PS3 and the audio from the built in speakers is rubbish.

Plus, I always feel I am causing a nuisance on speakers.

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones but I don't think the PS3 will output audio through BT except as a headset for chatting :( The wires drive me mad. I keep getting my arm caught up in it when I change gear.

It's more frequent for me to wear headphones every time I have to sit at my desk and play this game.

When you output sound using RCA cables (AV/Multi-out), you can connect the White/Red and the headset plug together using an audio Y-adapter and a coupler - it depends on the accessories you have or similar.

AUP/Legal notice: The links above are not advertisements, it is only information to display exactly what is needed to connect the headset to the AV/Multi-out port on the back of a PS3.

I run my optical from my PS3 to my amp, bought a pair of HP headphones that plug in via usb to the PS3 and have a usb dongle that I run a cable an RCA to 3.5 from my headphone output.Works great about $45.00 Canadian and all I do is turn up the amp with the remote.

You can use a portable amp (or nonportable I suppose) to get volume:

TV-> Rca to 3.5 -> amp -> headphones.

Somehow though the volume out on my TV gives me the perfect volume level so I just plug straight in.

I think you could also make a little inline volume adjuster like some headphones come with.

I play at my computer/gaming area. The TV I use has a headphone out jack. Sound comes from the PS3 via HDMI, then to my ears through the TV.

I use either Blackberry, Ipod, or PSP headphones (minus the PSP controller) all those headphones (ear buds) seem to be pretty good. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but they work for me.

i have a turtle beach headset... love it u can tell when cars are one side or the other without having to look side to side (good for nascar) i could not play GT5 without them

Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones are possible the best to use, once you turn them on you hear nothing but the cars and the turbos and the tyres it's great. :D 👍
