Do you think chase cam is for noobs?

I was a chase cam user since GT1, 15 years ago and this until past week, when I received my 1st wheel ever.

I admitt that chase cam seems unrealistic, definitely. But that's the only negative point that I can tell for this vew. I had no doubt if my laps are clean or dirty using this cam. Plus it gives a strong advantage seeing if there's somebody near you when you race online.

Now that I have a wheel, things are completely different. For odd reasons, I can't drive anymore with this cam or I crash in every turn. So I use bumper cam now.

Not for noobs, it is just a personal preference.
When I got my wheel, I went straight to hood view and I am still on it. Before I had a wheel, I was in third person. Now, even when I go to the DS3, I use hood view. I have no idea why.

I'm always using chase-cam
I can see what the car really does.
And i like to see the car itself.
Yes people called me noob once, i don't care.
I used the bumper cam once with the Hudson season event, the car took my view away from the track (willow springs)

if you use a steeringwheel? Chase cam is the worst, i have a wheel but don't use it, it's more for my daughter.
Got the Logitec Driving Force GT, Nice wheel, but i still use DS3.

FUNFACT!!
when doing a online season event and go into the rank list.
I see people with the T500 wheel slower than me.
That must hurt if they knew how i drive.

I wrote it before and repeat it.( my first post in this topic)
I have a wheel, the logitec driving force gt.I don't use it, my daughter does.
With a wheel, chase-cam is the baddest choice.
Bumpercam/hoodcam or cockpit is the best choice if you want to practice and be good with a wheel.

Good night and, maybe, see you tomorrow.

And I was giving you what I suspect is the reason for his acidic comments.

 Shush dragon, it has nothing to do with that. My point is I don't think they're doing themselves any favors by using that view.

Not surprised you would take my opinions as spiteful though, considering you have a nice track record of assumptions ;)

Gaahhh. I view getting beat by a guy using chase almost the same as a guy on a controller...it's just a different way of doing things.

Ok. So why this whole elitist attitude that chase cams are for noobs? Are DS3 controllers noobs as well? Perhaps some of us are reading more into the thread title than is actually there but, you did title it that way.

Fair enough on your comment about the title, I think the labeling as started a bit of controversy.

I already said how I feel about chase cam. I think it's detached, easy and not realistic what-so-ever. No, DS3 users aren't noobs, but the same concept goes, a wheel is different than a controller while bumper cam is different from chase cam.

I've come to the conclusion that everyone who doesn't use chase came is a noob. Just because it's not what I like using.

 👍

Chase cam is not noob, one of the fastest and most consistent gt competitors I've ever known used to use it. A most formidable opponent indeed full of wrs wins and various other podiums as well. Back in the day we would call it 'kiddi view' but it was just a light harted joke.

I've been playing since gt2 and gt3 forward seriously, used hood view for a long while and eventually switched to bumper. I cannot stand gt's cockpit view for whatever reason :dk:

There could be a correlation between pad users and kiddi view, I'm not sure. I used pad through gt4 and in 5p needed a wheel(hard transition) I never could use the kid cam but in all honesty don't we all look at the road in front of the car more then the car itself? could simply be a field of view preference but it's not noob in any way.

Well, yeah.

What did you expect, when you call a group of players, most of which are certainly not, in any sense of the word, noobs to GT6.

You already know there are more than a few of the non noobiest drivers in the world using chase cam, and most for very specific reasons. Your question has been more than answered and this thread really has no further purpose.

I for one, am unable to fathom how anyone can use that third person chase cam view and do anything but crash. The same thoughts occur to me regarding DS3 users. This does not preclude the fact that these very people, you seem to want to classify as lesser players, are, in practice, some of the fastest GT6 players anywhere. I've been beaten on more than one occasion by more than a couple of them. It has nothing to do with pure realism, it has to do with getting the most out of the game and the most out of their talents, skills and equipment. The game gives us options, albeit limited, to experiment with and find what works best for each of us.

Suspicion is not the same as assumption. Spiteful is not what I called your thread title. I also have a suspicion regarding your opinion that other drivers are doing themselves a disservice by using this chase cam mode. But before, or if, I go further into that, what do you care that they aren't doing themselves any favors?

...why don't you go back and read the comments leading up to that, to get a better idea of why I said what he said was stupid.

Nice try, though ;)
Yup. Back to the regular acid. Though I think it's safe to assume that @dddsprayshop didn't like your posts because of that sort of arrogant matter, and it seems that you counteract it all with more acid.

Huh.
Back on topic, I have noticed a few traits with the posts in this thread:
1: People DON'T CARE what kind of view you use. You're playing GT. GT is a video game. Video games are made to make people happy. Chase cam is there simply because some people are happy playing with it.
2: Quite a lot of fast and experienced drivers here on GTPlanet use chase cam. No reason to think that it is for noobs.
3: Most can agree that the view you use is purely a matter of preference. It means nothing concerning ho fast you can go, how experienced you are, how old you are, etc.

tl;dr, My answer to the thread title is: No. Chase cam is definitely not for noobs.

I personally prefer cockpit view, but I find chase cam perfectly usable, if a little disorienting. It's bumper cam that gives me motion sickness.
