I would believe that, being the enormous international website mostly devoted to GT5 that it is, GTP is the most valuable piece of user feedback available to Polyphony Digital as of now. As many of you know, The track SPA Francorchamps was an extremely requested feature on GTP's feedback section, and it was later added as DLC. Many speculated that PD had actually (for once) taken into account their users' feedback and demands!

So what do you think?

If you have something to claim, please back it up with something!

It's quite possible that PD, like a lot of other companies check fan feedback online. I don't think they really read GTP. However, perhaps every now and then someone in their marketing department does a little research. Which may of course include reading GTP and other sites.

I don't think Polyphony Digital reads GTPlanet much. Gran Turismo 5 would have been vastly different if they were listening to our ideas from before the game came out.

SHIRAKAWA Akira
They were already working on that, regardless of GTP.
The Feedback section is essentially irrilevant to Polyphony's plans.

Indeed.

I dont think they look at other Racing Games or any Fansite like gtplanet.

I Hope they would, but they dont. They just add Cars from GT6 Development in GT5 with less Polygone ...
Mh... PD dont have a own Feedback or Forum Page and i think that is Bad....

I think they would be stupid not to view GTP from time to time.

I think they would be stupid not to view GTP from time to time.

Lets see...

- "Upgrade Standards to Premium" / They done 1 Car for Money in a dlc

- " More Race Events" / Nope
- " More Race Modification Options" / Nope
- " Fast-Forward B-Spec" / Nope
- "Drag Racing" / Nope
- " Paint Preview" / Nope
- Livery editor / Nope
- and about 1000 other wishes.

Conclusion: they dont care about Fan Feedback . Its sad :(

I think Kaz said they do, this was when Jordan interviewed him at SEMA.

So you're saying because they didn't add all of the things that you want, they don't care about fan feedback?

i'm not sure , but they should view this website , its the biggest website i ever seen and its focusing in one thing , GRAN TURISMO , i really hope they check out the feedback and the threads .

No. But some of the wishes are Easy to integrate and they dont done any wishes before.

If you Look at previos Games they Cut things like "Drag Racing".
PD do their own Things and i dont See any reason to change my opinion, because they didnt proof to me that i'm wrong.

For example the Sound of some Premium Cars is from GT1 and Sound is a huge Problem for years now. And they dont Lisen to the Community.

Not with GT2,3,4,5.

It is known they consult the internet for certain aspects of developing GT's gameplay.
For their sound samples they consulted this site frequently:

And on a serious note, they would be ignorant and retarded to ignore a bible of customer feedback as is present here for them (are they?)

I said they would be stupid not to view the site. I didn't say anything about them actioning any matters found here.:)

-> I don't think PD listens in general, but sometime PD does too. So I'm Uncertain at the moment... :indiff:

-> But the saddest thing is...maybe Turn 10 & Codemasters may be lurking around here... :scared:

From staff interviews with representatives from PD and T10 we know they view GT Planet and Forza Planet.

Certainly we have had community staff from companies post both here and at Forza Planet, however that doesn't (to our knowledge) include PD.

However as has been said a big difference exists between viewing a site, gathering information from it and then putting that into place.

To action every tiny request made here alone would be impossible, so I would suggest its more likely that feedback gained from GT Planet and Forza Planet helps to shape future versions rather than dictating what content and features they will contain.

Scaff

It strikes me that a lot of requests which were posted here after GT5 got released have been granted eventually and also things posted before (the whole skidmark/reverse lights frenzy for example), whether that's the reason they did it might never be known but since they obviously are aware of this site I wouldn't rule it out.

They have their own idiosyncratic way of doing things and open communication doesn't seem to be their strong suit (things are improving though with Kaz tweeting) and they can be perceived as aloof or even stubborn at times but having a forum like this at their disposal free of charge would normally be considered a true asset and I suspect they use it selectively and secretly.

Ofcourse they'll probably never admit this having a direct influence, imagine what'll happen next, people start demanding (and expecting) things to be included just by posting it.
Oh snap, that already is the case...

To think that somebody(bodies) from PD or SCEA or Sony, etc, have NOT seen or combed this site for ideas, is INSANE. Now, I don't believe they sit here all day waiting for more ideas, but I do believe, at times, they've come here.

They have a special App that allert them when somebody mention Nissan here in Gtplanet.

I think they do. A few months ago I kept on posting obsessively about the M5 having it's brake calipers misplaced, and after a few updates they fixed it. I thought it was an almost nonesense problem, and that it was highly unlikely that they would go through the hassle of fixing such thing, specially considering that some other cars have also this modeling rpoblem. But they did.

Also, lets remember how some of us noticed that the sound in the Lexus LFA was kind of wierd even though it was obviously intended to sound like the real thing. A few updates later, the LFA's sound was tweek a little bit, and it's still the only car in which its sound sample has been modified.

Wheels on standards could be considered an example too. The DLC cars such as the Aventador and VW which were being requested a lot, might not count in this case since I believe that PD already had those cars modeled before it even anounced the first DLC.

Remember that Space Empire guy saying things of DLC,He is from PD...

I'd say it's nothing more than wishful thinking, along the same lines of "Do aliens exist"... some believe, and some don't.

Remember the standard wheel update? I read Kaz said something like this: We saw that Wheels for standard were highly requested, so we did it. I dont know precisely what he said, so dont quote me.

Who says it has to be a PD employee that browses GTP? Maybe Kaz's nephew browses GTP when he's bored and then relays information to his uncle. :D

I wonder how much is lost in translation and/or cultural differences?

Looking at other industries and dedicated forums or fan pages, I'm surprised PD does not have an official account and stickied or sub forum.

Don't forget standard cockpit views.

What about the save feature implemented for endurance races? Wasn't that requested from fans?

A missing feature (it was in GT4) implemented late.

^^ Oh ok. Didn't know it was a missing feature in GT4.

I think they were promising cockpits for all cars before the GT5 had been released. (premium/standard cockpits) I was badly dissapointed with that!

Exactly. PD work under contraints (time and money mostly) so implementing our individual requests is unrealistic. Even some of the most popular requests may be difficult to implement for various reasons and not worth the time when they have so much work to do on other aspects of the game. GT5 implemented a lot of fan requests, and some people are never happy (which isn't wrong), but you can't deny PD have given lots of fan requested material to us in GT5 (saving during enduros, exit race confirmation, cockpits, paint shop etc.).

You couldn't save during an enduro in GT4...
