Do you guys think that GT5 will have the ability to set online sessions so you have an infinate amount of laps to drive on? I think it would be fun because you wouldn't have to worry about racing, just driving. It would be like just taking a car to a track and driving round and round.

What do you guys think?

You could always just set the laps to the max.

Although I wouldn't mind them making it so people could join/leave without having to go to the lobby every time someone wants to join. (not sure if this is what you meant).

It would be a cool idea to have an open track all day, and people come and go, and people can participate in several car activities, drag racing, drifting, etc without limits

I believe this is the best thing they can do with online racing. Several different cars on the track, could be different types, from LMP to road cars, and all just drive around. 1 accident though.... yikes.

No problem, just leave and come back.

PD has mentioned 'Online Track Days' but I'm not sure how it's going to be, and if they stuck with it

Its a great idea.. also as long as you re spawn and you can restart the car at any point of the session back to pit lanes.

what he said.👍

would be good.... like most pc games have nowadays

a must have for this though would be the ability to return to the pits and make adjustments to the tuning of your car..... that way you could keep tweaking setups with friends

This is a great idea as well

Actually this is one of the coolest ideas I've seen in awhile. It would be awesome trying to chase down a higher powered car with a lowered powered car that randomly came out of the pits, or whatever the scenario. Cool idea for sure.

I'd like friends to be able to view from my car and give advice as I'm driving... talk me through a lap as if they were a passenger... brake here, let it ride out to the edge of the track, you need to be on the gas earlier there etc.... maybe even record voice over a replay and send it back to me?

Word, good thinking. I'd like to add that I would want others to see how dope other people car is! (If they allow customization & such that is)

Or even a virtual garage where if you stay in the 'track day' you can browse the pit/garage area, or even while people are tweaking and making adjustments

This.

I already do something similar to this in Prologue. I'll grab one of my favorite cars, hit arcade mode, set the laps to infinite, then just drive. When I need a break, I'll come into the pits, get something to drink, then head back out.

Nothing wrong with a little pretending.

Hahaha I really like the ideas being thrown around and adding more and more to this great idea.

Kaz had this in an interview a long time ago and there was the mention of the track days and such, so I can only hope that they are one step ahead of us on this.

I hope the seperate PD online team are at least reading and considering this idea :)

It would be a cool feature. I would like to pick a track and then choose what types of cars can take part, maybe set which tyres can be used and driving aids etc then send the track day session to people on my friends list. They can then add the track session to a list within GT5 and whenever they are online they can just come and join in. It would also be interesting to share set ups on cars, maybe loan cars from your garage to friends and maybe some stats from the session like total laps, miles covered, number of accidents, fastest laps etc.

I would love to be able to do this - we could have sanctioned GTP track days where the fastest guys here could help out the less gifted :)

Also, how about the ability to do passenger rides? so your camera is positioned from the passenger seat and you can use the analogue stick to look around, see what the driver is doing etc? Would have to be just road cars though; otherwise the passenger would be sat on a metal floor :)

You guys do realise that everything mentioned (apart form the garage viewer thing) is exactly the same as a Race meeting in GT4...
EDIT: Ok not everything :)

Ever since GT5P had online I thought about this feature, It would just be a server that you can join/leave at any time and be put up against cars of all different performance levels.

It would be a way to challenge yourself, have some fun, show off your car if a livery editor is incorparated and test settings against the worlds best without necessarily embarrasing yourself.

There would have to be limitaions to the realism though. I think it would be fun to end your session (get back to a tuning menu or leave) by entering the pits BUT! I do not want some lamer parking his 3000cr rustbucket in the pit entry for my veyron to crash into, nor do I want the people blocking tight/blind parts of the track with crappy cars. 'The ring' for example...

Thanks for the picture Happycorrey, I've not seen that presentation before.

I think the ideas suggested for Track Days sound brilliant, a jump in and jump out relaxed game style sounds brilliant if you just want to do some free laps but with the benefit of being online with others.

Let's hope GT5 includes it.

Well, 'The ring' is always full of cars with different performance levels, of course we will not have a hundred cars at the same as in real life, but it would be cool to show customizations that you done in your ride.

If GT5 full game comes out, and no track day, we have private rooms, we can set X amount of laps and what not. But then again we can create a complain thread, PD will look into it and include it in DLC.

That is what happen with complains about damage, so Kaz promised for new damage physics, as well sounds improvements because we complain. So it works to complain

It's an online car video game, all it's going to do is turn into a crash fest. Even if 19 out of 20 people are doing it right some moron is going to come on and run into everyone. I don't think there is a online racing game I've played where people don't do this. However, if we could set up lobbies and only allow our friends in I can see this being pretty enjoyable.

"An old beetle bug blocking the pit lane for an Enzo to crash on."

That's messed up! I agree with Joey D, they should add a vote kick or something in a public track day.
