Do you think that GT5 will have multiplayer "Track Days"?

^ since they're known as "lobbies", I'm pretty sure drivers will be able to come and go like this. Pure awesomeness.

Will the online have an active pit crew or is that just for the campaign? Can you imagine everyone online rolling up into the pit crew and the crew actually comes out. Now that would be amazing to see.

Hmmm, maybe on friday nights we could have a cruise night with drivers flashing their lights and with Spectator mode. People could gather around the circuit and watch.

I am not creating a new thread because this one could work well for my suggestion. Here is my thoughts of trackdays(TD) in GT5. Wouldn't it be nice that some of the TD in GT5 are set by PD as events. You can enter by paying a price (money) per lap to compete. If you enter and have done a minimum of laps (depending on track) you are in for winning a random pricecar or winning pricemoney for 10 other competitors that enter every day (hour or something like that). To let the bangers stay out they could ad that damage on your car must be repaired before you leave the event. What do you think? I think it would be great. Let me know.

I'm picturing cruising along in my Ford GT thinking I'm going fast and then hearing a turbine engine come roaring past me a 200+ on laguna seca......I would actually love that.
The mulit class racing in Forza was fun and that was only 4 cars of 2 different classes, so I can only imagine 18 cars with all different performace levels. So if they combine this with the ability to join the race at any time it could be amazing. Just for when you feel like driving fast without pushing youself to come in first all the time sounds great.

Well spectator mode is already in the game, so I would assume that if there are track days you will be able to spectate them.

I hope that in spectator mode we'll have ability to take photos. I would sometimes go at track days just to take some pictures of cars I don't have... yet ;)

Wait a second.

You mean this:

Races and Track Days
First and foremost is the Race. In addition to the free match races as seen in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue where you don’t know who you’ll race against next, it will now be possible to gather your closest friends and acquaintances, set a variety of rules, and enjoy races the way you want to.
And of course racing isn’t the only thing you can do. You can host "Track Days", where everyone can drive freely on the track. You can try to reduce your laptimes, teach someone how to drive, or just enjoy drifting. There’s an infinite amount of ways to have fun here.

And this:

In Gran Turismo 5, every player has their own "My Lounge" racing room prepared for them online. This is a private room that only your "Friends" set through the PlayStation®Network can enter.

In My Lounge, it is possible to set race regulations and tracks of your choice, and hold racing events with your friends. Up to 16 players can participate in the race, and even if you are not in the race yourself, you can watch it through a variety of race cams. You can also participate in free runs before the start of the race.

Imagine this: You set a time for a race using the messaging feature, and then wait for people to arrive while you race free runs on the track. Your friends start to join one by one, and once everyone’s arrived, the race can be started. Friends that showed up later can watch the race and chat.

In my lounge, you can wait while watching current races through the live cameras, provided with a large variety of different camera angles.

You can monitor the lap times and best section times of participating friends, and of course you can also chat by voice or text.

You can watch the race from exciting views, as if you were in the race yourself.

I somehow presume that the answer to OP is "yes".

But I'm not sure since it is confirmed in various articles on official web. I'm not sure about the oficial web credientals.. ;)

Is there a open track day, without having to have everybody not on your friends list?

I would say they are for sure going to have track days and custom races, but it doesn't seem like it is open to the public. Meaning that only you and your friends on your friends list can join in on the track day fun. Either way it sounds awesome to just mess around chasing your friends forever. Hopefully you will be able to pull into the pits to change cars or tune it in the middle of the track day.

I really like this idea of open track days. If they can keep 2 hosts up of lets say 10 different course layouts, rotating to different ones each week, with no restrictions, they would stay busy all the time. Allow anyone to bring any car they wanted with infinite laps, dynamic weather, and day and night transitions to match the time zone the host is in.

From the sound of it there is already something like that ingame. When you start a lobby, before the race starts(which I assume that length of time can be anywhere from a few seconds to hours depending on the host) you are free to take any of your cars out on track and run laps with them, trying new settings and such.

It might not be considered a "track day" but a pre-race practice and a track day are almost one in the same aside from a few rule and format changes.

edit: I see the first post on this page already addressed that... le fail...

What makes you say it won't be open to the public? Have they hinted at that?

I really hope that is not the case.

Do you guys think that GT5 will have the ability to set online sessions so you have an infinate amount of laps to drive on? I think it would be fun because you wouldn't have to worry about racing, just driving. It would be like just taking a car to a track and driving round and round.

What do you guys think?
This scenario seems to be heaven for all the childish racers whom want nothing else than ruin someone elses fun, if you know what I mean.

It sounds fun though, track days that is.

Now that a lot of players have the game, what is the feedback for the online multiplayer? Is it lagging, how do the lobbies work, are people just ramming each other online with dirty racing, are there open track days??

This is a very good idea. They should at least have a Nurburgring track day going online 24/7 with a "pit" you could "park" in to get off the track and observe the other players or chat. Maybe incorporate a GT5 game-launching hub - because you know whatever dumb little space on Home just isn't going to cut it.

I think this feature was mainly build for online drifting and maybe as a meeting up lobby for teams. People hate being matched up on a server with a drift team in GT5P and this is PD's solution!
