Right so XFL to return in 2020.

I have no interest in American Football whatsoever so I literally couldn't care less about that part, what interests me is whether he will focus most/all of his attention on to that and not WWE and whether Triple H/Steph will start to take over more of the reigns.

Some other news too, Rich Swann has had all the charges against him dropped.

It is reported that the pair did in fact make up from that incident so that isn't much of a surprise.

It seems to me that Vince McMahon is trying to capitalize on the lowering popularity of the NFL.

It seems to me that Vince McMahon is trying to capitalize on the lowering popularity of the NFL.
Vince confirmed in his announcement that these plans had been put together before the severity of the NFL's decline had been thoroughly documented, so while it helps, I think the massive leading factor is that with him getting up there in age, he wants to give it one last go to remove XFL from his list of failures.

If it's easily watchable and easy to pick up I'll give it a try. I won't just write it off. I liked the idea of a shorter game. It's rare I'll sit there for more the 2 hours watching something (motorsport aside). Again though I won't subscribe to something solely for XFL. We don't even have a conventional "TV" here at home. We have one which is in our bedroom not downstairs with a PS3 and PS4 linked to it. No aerial. Heard people saying about having it on Netflix. I think that may be a good idea imo. But it must be easy to pick up for a newbie. I've never watched American football before.

When asked if he consulted his wife Linda McMahon on this decision McMahon replied “No.”

She probably popped into the office that day saw the XFL banners, promptly got into her car, went home and started sharpening some knives grumbling "100 freaking million".

NXT Takeover card for tonight.

Kassius Ohno v Velveteen Dream

Extreme Rules Match
Aleister Black v Adam Cole

NXT Tag Team Championship
Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish (c) v The Authors Of Pain

NXT Women's Championship
Ember Moon (c) v Shayna Baszler

NXT Championship
Andrade 'Cien' Almas (c) v Johnny Gargano

Kassius Ohno v Velveteen Dream

Velveteen seems like the obvious choice, but I think Ohno needs a win more. They could also use this match as a way to introduce Ricochet if he comes in as a heel.

Extreme Rules Match
Aleister Black v Adam Cole

One thing that kind of annoys me about pro wrestling is how they'll add a stipulation that's supposedly punishing the heel when in fact it seemingly plays into their favor. That aside I think Cole needs a big win to cement himself as a main heel so I expect him to win in not-so-clean fashion as it is an Extreme Rules match after all.

NXT Tag Team Championship

Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish (c) v The Authors Of Pain

I'm guessing they did this rather odd booking as a way to give AoP a farewell match prior to being moved up. Undisputed Era should retain.

NXT Women's Championship
Ember Moon (c) v Shayna Baszler

If this were the main roster I could see them putting the belt on Baszler, but I like to think NXT has a little more sense than that. The women's division is in a rebuilding phase so they need a torch bearer for awhile, Ember seems more likely to grow into that role.

NXT Championship
Andrade 'Cien' Almas (c) v Johnny Gargano

The way they built Gargano up just seems a tad too obvious so I'm expecting Ciampa to interfere and cost him the title (even if it just him showing up allowing Almas to do a quick roll-up pin).

This Takeover's OMGINDYSTARWEVESIGNED crowd sightings were War Machine, Ricochet, and EC III (the former Derrick Bateman, who's improved considerably during his time away)

NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo (Night one) spoilers:
Minoru Suzuki is the new IWGP Intercontinental Champion, continuing the recent trend of people who've lost to Hirooki Goto at Wrestle Kingdom and immediately went onto better things (Tetsuya Naito @ WK 10, he won the New Japan Cup and the IWGP Heavyweight Title; Katsuyori Shibata @ WK11, was seemingly on pace to win the IWGP Heavyweight Title before his career-ending injury/). KAZE NI NARE

I don't think he'll come back as EC III, probably as Derrick Bateman again (unless they pull a Bray Wyatt and change him erratically). They don't want to do another Tensai or Curtis Axel again.

EDIT: I am wrong in this regard, just had a look at NXT Takeover.

Also according to the odds, Roman Reigns is 3/1 for the Royal Rumble, I want to be scared but the irony of him winning in Philadelphia again after what happened in 2015 makes me want to ironically enjoy it

Takeover was fantastic once again, a superb match between Black and Cole with both guys bloodied and battered by the end of it, the NXT title match was an early contender for match of the year for me, it was simply brilliant, the chemistry between Almas and Gargano was infinite and they put on one hell of a show, amazing match!

Been reading on Twitter that Strowman is emerging as the bookies favourite for the Rumble tonight.

Bobby Roode is doing an open challenge on the pre-show. I’m half expecting them to have it be the last match so there is a decent crowd and than have Mojo come out in a Gronk jersey.

Considering how predictable they've made the RR this year, I think they're going to make somebody else win other than Roman Reigns.

My bet is going on one of these three guys.

John Cena
Seth Rollins
Randy Orton

I would very much like to see AJ Styles vs Randy Orton in the main event of Wrestlemania.

Final card for The Royal Rumble tonight.

Kick-Off Show

The Revival v Gallows & Anderson

Kalisto, Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik v TJP, Jack Gallagher & Drew Gulak

Bobby Roode United States Championship Open Challenge
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Smackdown Tag Team Championship-2 Out Of 3 Falls Match
The Usos (c) v Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin

Raw Tag Team Championship
Seth Rollins & Jason Jordon (c) v Cesaro & Sheamus

Women's Royal Rumble Match-Confirmed Participants:

Asuka, Nia Jax, Alicia Fox, Becky Lynch, Naomi, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Mickie James, Mandy Rose, Sonya DeVille, Tamina, Lana, Dana Brooke, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Natalya & Carmella.

WWE Championship-2 On 1 Handicap Match
AJ Styles (c) v Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens

Universal Championship-Triple Threat Match
Brock Lesnar (c) v Kane v Braun Strowman

Men's Royal Rumble Match-Confirmed Participants:
Roman Reigns, John Cena, Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, The Miz, Elias, Apollo Crews, Titus O'Neill, Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Big E, Tye Dillenger, Aiden English & Rusev.

There are only 18 participants in both Rumble matches confirmed right now so expect a few surprises (especially in the Women's one)

The Roode US open challenge is on the preshow so don't expect a big star to answer it, its most likely to be Zack Ryder or Mojo Rawley or someone of that ilk.

Its a two hour preshow with a four hour main show, if your watching the whole thing then it will start in the UK at 10pm with the main show from midnight.

Well, you pretty much nailed that one...

Men's Rumble is up now, presumably Women's Rumble to close the show.

Overall, thought it was a good show but wished it wasn't so predictable. Although do think the winners were deserving this time.

The only surprise for me was Dolph being Numer 30 but that turned to disappointment when he was pretty much instantly eliminated.

Ronda Rousey being unveiled as a full time competitor in WWE stuns the hell out of me.

They didn’t say anything about her being full time I think it’s just for wrestlemania unless there was news that she signed a deal to be full time

ESPN broke the news that Ronda signed a full time contract. WWE confirmed it.

Both Rumble matches were rather good, the Women’s should get better as they get more current ones trained. Ember Vs. Asuka is a match that needs to be done on the main roster. I also have no problem with how they handled Rousey, like her or not she is a big name so it makes sense to have her debut at a big PPV, they were at least smart enough to wait until after the match.

They also scripted the men’s in the best possible way to boost the reaction for Nakamura.

As for the rest of the card, it’s obvious what this show was about, but they could have put in a little more effort. Shane keeps giving Kami reasons to be upset, Brock did his thing and the tag divisions had a rare bad night. Should be fun to see how things progress to WM.

Seems the perfect fit to me. Her career in UFC is good as done after two brutal defeats. Before she gets beaten again and her stock and reputation gets further damage she's switched. Plus she's already been an actor in films which also helps with WWE.

It's a massive coup for WWE. Outside of the women participating in tennis for my money she's the world biggest sportswoman and I can only imagine she even more well known in the USA.

Enjoyed the show a lot, both Rumbles were great and the winners were spot on, it was great to see some of the former female competitors return and to see Rey in a WWE ring again, both matches were very well done and well received by the crowd.

The only bad match on the night for me was the Raw tag title match, which had to follow the Men's Rumble and the crowd went dead, but it was pretty poor anyway.
