Some very good matches last night, Drew McIntyre v Kevin Owens, Lashley v Styles for the US title and Ziggler v Theory in the main event.

Before the McIntyre/Owens match they both had a great back-and-forth promo which felt real and not scripted, there was more Dexter Lumis stuff with strange things happening backstage and Lumis tried to jump the barricade again during the US title match but was stopped by security.

Two Bits of Wrestling news today.

WWE are expanding its NXT brand with NXT Europe, its seemingly replacing NXT UK which will go on hiatus, The final UK event will be a Worlds Collide on Sunday September 4th which sees NXT and NXT UK talent square off, recently current NXT UK talent have been appearing on NXT 2.0. sadly as a consequence of this news several NXT UK talent were released today. Rohan Raja, Primate, Sha Samuels, Wild Boar, Jack Starz, Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan are all gone and I have likely missed a few.

Other news is over at AEW with CM Punk throwing his toys out of the pram again, he was been very vocally disgruntled backstage and has been arguing with Tony Khan, apparently he was close to walking out of Dynamite last night.

Normally when you have these issues with multiple companies, you are the problem however this isn't an isolated incident for Tony Khan, seems the moment Triple H got the keys to WWE, a lot of AEW wrestlers have come forward to express Tony Khan unprofessionalism and issues.

In other words, they think they can get a better contract with WWE now that Vince is no longer the public head of the company and are rattling their sabers, the same way they did when AEW was stealing WWE's talent away. And in a couple years it'll flip right back around when either AEW has a big management shakeup or WWE turns back into an undesirable workplace again.

Not that this is anything new of course, and I can't really blame the wrestlers because they too often get screwed over by promotions, so it's not surprising that they're looking to get as good a deal as they can while the market looks promising.

Considering Tony Khan is the fan who was actually able to start the promotion they want to, I'd say he's done a notable job. Yes, there will be bitterness between some...but if you don't hear that someone isn't 100% satisfied, or when no one is even willing to deal with it, then you have a major problem.

What I find odd is that it's like CM Punk, amongst others, seem to want a show that does nothing but praise and pander to them. Like, they know they can perform, and do so to get that, but then they want it forever.

Might be me though.

Sheamus will face Gunther at Clash At The Castle got the IC title after he won a great fatal five way, also in the match were Happy Corbin, Ricochet, Madcap Moss and Sami Zayn, it will be the first time the IC title will be defended on a PPV/PLE in the longest time!

Speaking of Sami he managed to get an audience with Roman in a fun segment, he also got a huge pop from his hometown crowd in Montreal and took a Claymore from Drew during Drew's face-to-face. Roman was unusually on his own with no Heyman or Usos.

Elsewhere, Toxic Attraction's Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jane progressed in the women's tag title tournament as they replaced Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark due to injury, Ronda Rousey get herself 'arrested'. Trish Stratus will be on Raw tomorrow.

I was honestly rooting for Sami to win the match, but Sheamus and Gunther will be a great brawl. Wonder if Holland and Butch will be at ringside...

Jonny Gargano returned to WWE and made his Raw debut last night, another former NXT guy that Triple H has called back.

Elsewhere Dexter Lumis kidnapped the Miz, Bayley had her first match since returning and faced Aliyah but the match wasn't great, Edge beat Priest in a good main event but Judgement Day attacked Edge after and he had to be helped by his wife Beth, Rollins and Riddle started the show of with a brawl.

Meanwhile Dexter Lumis got arrested on NXT and left a note for Indi Hartwell just after reuniting

Speaking of Dean Ambrose, Jon Moxley is now the Undisputed AEW Champion after he squashed CM Punk in just 5 minutes last night.

Before the show Tony Khan held a talent meeting and reportedly sent an email to Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan warning them not to tamper with AEW talent.

Tony is rattled!

He might need to focus on his own given Eddie Kingston had to be secretly suspended for a backstage altercation

Christ, Vince loses control of WWE, yet almost the entire week since my last post has made it look like AEW is in a tailspin. Maybe I was being too optimistic.

Rumours are now speculating Triple H is ordering for new Title designs for the Championships.

I'm not even against the big W belt design but I hate how it was repeated 3 times over for the Universal and both Women titles, so I hope if this is true, the titles can be spiced up a little

And go to someone that has to defend it every month!

Drew McIntyre got battered by the Bloodline last night, he beat Sami Zayn in the main event but then the attack started. He got hit with a spear, a guillotine and a helluva kick and Usos attacked him with chairs.

Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez beat Natalya and Sonya to progress to the women's tag title final where they will face Dakota Kai and Io Sky on Raw this Monday, next week's Smackdown was taped last night because they got to go to Cardiff.

Honestly Vince stepping down as the public face of the company was probably the best move WWE could have made, just from the amount of dissention it's been causing in the competition. Even moreso with Tony not reading the room correctly by telling others not to mess with AEW talent, when the talent themselves are the ones causing the disruptions.

Minor detail but (Matt) Riddle and (Austin) Theory have gone back to using their first names.

Bless this era of shortening everyone's names is gone

There's been a lot of rumors flying about the place about AEW wrestlers asking for releases from their contracts, and Malakai Black has been at the top of that list of names. Meltzer says that someone who has a long term contract asked for a release recently and was denied, and Black is reportedly contracted until 2026 and not happy with how he's being booked right now. Could just be a case of people adding 2 and 2 and coming up with 5, but if WWE really is trying to pull some of its former talent back I'd certainly put him at the top of the "should have been used better" list.

Also Bobby Fish's contract ran out at the end of August and AEW didn't care enough to renew it, so there's that too.

....and well ****

PPV had good quality matches but I can't be bothered checking into the actual shows when the 2 main titles are being held hostage by Roman Reigns. Can he drop 1 already, I am so sick of The Bloodline

I had the same reaction. Even USA Network has been wanting an active champion for RAW, just split the dang titles already!

At least Solo Sikoa made a surprise appearance...
