Sami Zayn winning the WWE championship was the obvious big news coming out of NOC, it was a pretty chaotic triple threat match which ended up with Zayn pinning Rhodes with a roll up, it is definitely well deserved and the reaction to this from the Wrestling community has been great to see.

Oba Femi beat Jey Uso to become King Of The Ring and he won clean with no interference from Brock Lesnar who wasn't there. he hasn't picked his champion opponent for SummerSlam yet with his choice being either Roman Reigns or now Sami Zayn, unlike IYO Sky who won Queen Of The Ring beating Liv Morgan and then immediately chose to face Morgan for the women's world title at SummerSlam and that match has been made.

Seth Rollins beat Bron Breakker in a good steel cage match, Trick Williams retained his US title against Ricky Saints and Tiffany Stratton retained her women's US title against Jade Cargill, it was quite a good show.
 
I read some report that Sami Zayn's WWE Title reign is going to be short, presumably drop to Cody Rhodes or Gunther at some point.

edit: I realize that Brock Lesnar is on Raw, not on SmackDown, so I edited my original comment.

Sheamus WWE contract will expire and he won't sign a new deal, meaning it will be the end of a 19-year run there. He was offered an extension but he turned it down.

What a fantastic career he had there, shame he couldn't win the Intercontinental title in the end.
 
In other sad news, Charlottte's biggest fan Scarlett passed yesterday from her cancer battle. She was 8. She helped design Charlotte's gear for last year's Survivor Series and Mania.

Yeah I heard about that, it is sad, A few wrestlers have posted tribute posts on social media not just Charlotte, Charlotte wore ring gear inspired by Scarlett at this years WrestleMania.

Sheamus has been moved to the Almuni section of WWE.Com so he is done, its happened really quickly too. I wonder if he will get a mention on Raw tonight.
 
No it didn't, CM Punk is the new WWE Champion beating Sami Zayn, it was of course supposed to be Cody Rhodes in the title match but he got attacked by Gunther who slammed his head in a car door, the whole storyline all night was who was going to face Zayn in the title match but given it was in Chicago it was always going to be Punk and there were a few loud Punk chants throughout the night, it was a fantastic main event match as well.

Sami Zayn's reign lasted for just nine days making it the shortest World/WWE title reign since 2021, I do feel for him a bit but at least he can now say that we won the WWE title.

The Vision won back the tag titles from Street Profits with help from Maxxine Dupri.
 
When ever there will be more WWE releases next, i fear that they will be on the list..

The main things from Raw last night.


Maxxine Dupri has turned full heel and turned on Alpha Academy, Otis and Tozawa were trying to reason with her and tell her that Theory was bad news, it looked like Dupri was going back to them for a brief moment but Theory hit Otis with a low blow and that was that, The Vision attacked them after with spears and brass knuckles and they stood tall, it needed to happen for Maxxine's new character but it was brutal and painful to watch two beloved characters get destroyed like that and it got proper heat from the crowd, it was like someone ripping your heart out and stamping on it!

Chad Gable won the gauntlet match and will face Penta for the Intercontinental title at SummerSlam in his home town, others in the match were Joe Hendry, Je'von Evans, Dragon Lee, Dom Mysterio, Rusev and Ethan Page. Big Cass had a return video and his return is set for 3rd August, there was nothing for Enzo but I'm sure he will be back too.

Seth Rollins stood over Roman Reigns to end the show after their contract signing got physical. Saturday Night's Main Event is this Saturday from Madison Square Garden with an okay looking card, SummerSlam is around three weeks away.

Rhea Ripley suffered a torn meniscus in her right knee some weeks ago hence why she has been off TV lately, WWE have finally come to a decision with what to do with the WWE women's title that Ripley holds, its not a serious injury and she is expected back soon so she is not vacating the title, instead there will be an interim champion which will be crowned via a five-women ladder match at SummerSlam and then when Ripley returns there will be a match to determine the true champion, Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton have already qualified for the ladder match.

  • Danhausen wins against JD McDonagh in a No-DQ match with help from Karl-Anthony Towns
  • Lyra Valkyria wins against Bayley
  • Punk and Rhodes win against Gunther and Zayn with help from Nick Aldis
  • Reigns gives Jalen Brunson a custom title. Rollins and Tyresse Haliburton try to sneak attack, but it backfired.

Just seen NBA presents Saturday Night's Main Event.

Fatal Influence winning the women's tag titles needed to happen, they haven't done all that much since debuting on the main roster and Paige/Brie Bella's run was pretty good but meh, Danhausen match was typical good fun, Lyra v Bayley was match of the night with Lyra suffering a busted nose when Bayley hit her with an accidental stiff elbow, Lyra also has new entrance music which sounds like a remix of her old one. Cody and Punk won the tag match after Nick Aldis cost Gunther the win and struck him with the title, it means the WWE title match remains a singles match between Cody and Punk at SummerSlam, Gunther v Aldis has been made for SummerSlam just now after they brawled on the kick off show. The closing segment between Roman Reign, Jalen Brunson, Seth Rollins and Tyrese Haliburton was just whatever.
 
SiriusXM's Pro Wrestling Nation (Formerly Busted Open Radio) is now turning into WWE Radio July 27.
 
I am a wrestling fan as well and I am looking forward to SummerSlam. By the looks of it, Roman Reigns will finally defeat Seth Rollins in a big match. I also expect CM Punk to retain against Cody Rhodes.

My favourite wrestlers are Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Austin Theory, Maxxine Dupri and Blake Monroe. I now like to envision Theory and Maxxine as my husband and I 😂

 
I haven't been able to watch much WWE in the past few weeks because of work, but I am looking forward to SummerSlam. I think both big title matches look good and interesting in the Gunther-Nick Aldis match. The match I'm maybe least interested in is the Femi-Lesnar HIAC match which I think is little unnecessary given Femi 'retired' Lesnar already, I think this trilogy thing they had has been a bit stupid.

I've been on and off with RAW, mainly because Mondays are the better days to hang out with my best friend after work. From the highlights I watched on YouTube, things aren't clicking for me anymore. I think SmackDown is starting to be the better show now.

Yeah it was a great effort from Nick Aldis, it was his first match in 1,092 days and he didn't miss a beat, it clearly meant a lot to him and Mickie James and their son joined him in the ring afterwards, shout out to Gunther too who played his role to perfection. Also Aldis ring music has been in the news as it was Morning Glory by Oasis, a song I have now had in my head all day.

Brie Bella was taken to hospital after she injured her right shoulder in the women's tag match, it meant they had to switch things around on the fly and rush the finish, Nikki Bella attacked Paige after she took the pin from Jacy Jayne.

Orton returned to RKO Cody Rhodes which cost him the match against Punk who retained in a great match, Brock passed the torch to Oba after their HIAC match which went pretty much as everyone expected, Liv beat IYO clean in a good opening match but she di have some help from Raquel and Roxanne but it didn't effect the finish. Keys, Sikoa and LA Knight beat the Bloodline on a good six man tag, Solo is having a ball as a face and they should have turned him a lot sooner.
