The Foley intro to that match was terrible, he messed up the 'fight in the dog' bit and there were pauses as he tried to remember his lines, and Jojo should definitely have done the guys intros.

Good Smackdown last night, tag team title match added to No Mercy.

So two weeks ago we had the first branded PPV with Smackdown's Backlash, which was a great show and was very well received by the fans, Tonight is Raw's turn with Clash of Champions, and here is the card.

Kick-Off Show

Alicia Fox v Nia Jax

-----------------------------------------------

Chris Jericho v Sami Zayn

Best Of Seven Series
Cesaro v Sheamus (Currently tied 3-3)

United States Championship
Rusev (c) v Roman Reigns

Cruiserweight Championship
TJ Perkins (c) v Brian Kendrick

Raw Tag Team Championship
The New Day (c) v Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

Raw Womens Championship-Triple Threat Match
Charlotte (c) v Sasha Banks v Bayley

WWE Universal Championship

Pretty good card, cant watch once again because of work but will watch tomorrow night, the rematch between Lesnar and Orton took place in Chicago last night, dont know what happened, it wasnt televised....

That match was apparently a 6 minute squash match that saw Lesnar win. Again.

So, one day after Clash of Champions, and no one here has spoken about it... I think I know why; despite a potentially good card, most matches on the PPV just fell flat due to either wonky booking or simply because they lacked reasons for excitement. Without spoiling much about the matches themselves, I can more or less describe what went wrong in each match;
  • The Tag Title match was going well enough, but the finish itself was just strange. Here, the issue was how that whole thing was booked;
  • The Cruiserweight match was somewhat sloppy, mostly Perkins' fault on the botch department. It served as a decent introduction to the title on PPVs, but nothing really special;
  • The Women's title match had a couple of interesting moments, but once again, nothing really special seared itself into my mind. Wrestlemania probably did that concept better because the stakes were higher...
  • Sami vs Jericho had no real reasons for existing other than being a time interval between two title matches. No special plot, no special significance;
  • The US title match? Too predictable, in many aspects. Two things; people chanting "CM Punk" during completely unrelated matches needs to stop. He's not doing anything relevant other than getting his hide kicked in MMA, so people have no reason to chant his name other than being dumb smarks. And Roman Reigns is less "Believe That" and more "Buulieve That", because people will simply refuse to cheer him on. Might as well turn him heel, no?
  • The WWE match never got out of first gear, plain and simple.
So, in essence, what I'm saying is that only Cesaro vs Sheamus really enticed me to watch through the whole thing with eagerness. And when that had the ending it had, you will feel cheated when you get there yourself...

I liked the Seamus vs. Cesaro match. The ending sucked. The women's championship match was pretty good in my opinion. But @Niku Driver HC is right about the rest of the matches. This PPV as a whole has me a little underwhelmed.

I agree with you on both accounts. And I suspect many others here share that opinion... The match felt like a proper back-and-forth battle for a completely different, more decisive ending. But I guess someone else had other ideas...

Perhaps I'm giving that one a bit more bashing than what it deserves. It was fairly inoffensive, all things considered. Maybe I was expecting a bit more from Bayley's first ever PPV title match on the main roster.

Well, I'm glad that my opinion isn't far off from the truth. Watching it with newLegacyinc's commentary (because it's a thousand times funnier that way :lol:), I could tell they were as bored as me half of the time... Thank god for their constant joke-cracking!

I think the only thing missing was a bigger offensive move to finish it the way they did. Come on, a clothesline over the barricade finished them both off? Other than that, it was the "steal the show" of the night.

It could have been much better, don't get me wrong. But in such a week show, this was still a decent match. I was hoping for more, but I couldn't argue with what I got.

I'm unaware of this newLegacyinc you speak of, but it sounds interesting. But it has to be better than the current Raw PPV commentary. I'm sick of the off-color death threats with his throw at each other on the regular. Call the damn show.

Well I did say I was trying to avoid spoiling the match results... But I guess you felt that the lame ending should've been pointed out. I can't exactly disagree with you regarding that, really.

It was better than Sasha vs Charlotte at Summerslam, that is true. At the very least Sasha wasn't broken by a reckless corner move... Can't argue with that, indeed.

Well if you're interested, here's the Discord chat video where the entire PPV (including ads! :lol:) was commentated by them;

(NSFW due to some... "salty" language, that goes without saying)

If you can stomach a bit of swearing here and there, I'd say it's worth a shot listening to a single PPV with them speaking. It's certainly a lot less scripted and you'll hear less about Otunga's wife with this commentary... :lol:

I honestly didn't even think to put that in a spoiler tag. Oops. I guess I'm not really spoiling anything, because nothing really happened.

Thanks for the link. I didn't get a chance to finish the whole thing, so I'll be watching that right now in fact.

Good luck, syncing the commentary with the PPV footage is the hardest part. Even NL had quite a few issues with syncing...

I'm at the Reigns/Rusev match and have only been off a few fractions of a second. It's pretty good so far. You're right about then being bored though. "My salad has spinach leafs in it."

I wanted to speak about it, but the whole PPV kind of bored me. Sheamus vs Cesaro was the only interesting one and that ended with a no contest :/. The U.S Title match, I actually thought was better than I expected it to be, not in a range of 4/5 or 5/5, but I expected it to br a 2/5 but ended up being a 3/5 so a nice surprise even if predictable.

Cruiserweights need more storyline before I can get interested in them, right now it is all just flashy moves without any meaning behind them.

Watched it up to the main event, Sheamus v Cesaro was match of the night despite the weird finish, US title match was better than i expected, all the other matches were OK or good but nothing special.

Good to know you're enjoying it, it's nice to hear that it's working well enough. Any joke that caught your attention? Just wondering, that's all. It's not often I get to discuss NL stuff with other GTPeers...

And at least that salad line is far better than anything Byron Saxton's mouth can blurt out. Do you hear him talk about salads...? :sly: :lol:

@Niku Driver HC, I loved the on going joke about the Boot of Doom and the Bulgarian Boot. They had me stitches for some reason. Also, Jericho pulling the tights of his ass and smelling his fingers was pretty funny. Robo-Jericho was pretty good. I enjoyed them far more than I did the regular commentary, that's for sure.

During the Sheamus/Cesaro match i jumped out of my seat and yelled Holy **** when Cesaro did that dive, i thought the match would end right there, i'm surprised he didnt kill himself doing that!

That was a hard spot to watch. I'm glad that he walked away from that.

EDIT: Tonight on Raw we bring the Clash of Champions! Seriously, what's with all the rematches?

You'll find that the CM Punk chant has changed from only being done to annoy the top brass and for the sake of it, to being chanted when the product is crap, and they don't like what they see. Which I completely agree with.

Oh yeah, the Bulgarian Boot part was pretty damm good, I laughed at that as well. It's so obvious as a thing, but it still caused me to burst out laughing. Same goes for Jericho's "wardrobe malfunction", that was simply dumb fun. That must be the true Gift of Jericho, smell it in... :lol:

Robo-Jericho was kind of an accidental joke as Jericho (not Chris Jericho, but rather a NL member whose nickname happens to be Jericho)'s Internet connection was being a pain in the rear, but it did turn out to be a funny accidental joke in the end. The part where someone got Dana Brooke's name wrong and called her Dana Book was also laugh-worthy, mainly because someone else went "Ha-yah...!" like Booker T did in the past ('cause you know, Dana Book(er)? :lol:)...

Well that may be so, but the part where they chanted it wasn't really terrible, just plain dull. Of course, one can argue that because it was being so dull it basically turned it bad in their book, but still, I can't say I enjoy hearing that. Can't they just chant "Booring"? After all, they love to boo Reigns, so the shoe would fit...

So i watched the main event of COC, was really enjoying it until Jericho came out and then it went downhill fast from then on.

Watched Raw too, was pretty good. liked both cruiserweight matches and actually thought the US title rematch was better than the one at COC, but the finish was a letdown, bit disappointed that nothing really came of the best of seven series, they put them in a tag team after all that....really?!.

World Championship being defended on Smackdown tonight as Ambrose gets his 1 on 1 rematch against Styles and next weeks Raw will have two title matches, Perkins v Kendrick for cruiserweight title and Charlotte v Sasha for Womans title.

Big news out of Smackdown tonight, another match made for No Mercy:
The Miz will put his Intercontinental Title on the line against Dolph Ziggler, who has put his career on the line. If he loses, he leaves WWE.

This fits in with the rumours of Dolph wanting to leave the company by the end of the year, so it'll be interesting to see if they kill Miz's title reign in order to keep Dolph happy and in the company.

Is this meant to be the poster for No Mercy the PPV or are WWE releasing a new brand of perfume called No Mercy :lol::

The WWE logo is rather strategically placed...

That would give a whole new meaning to the expression "douche cologne", yes... :lol:

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to return to NXT in the coming weeks, some of the teams have been named including Gargano and Ciampa and Hideo Itami and Kota Ibushi!!

So Raw last night, was plodding along like Raw does until the main event, which was the Women's title match between Charlotte and Sasha, which was really good, definitely had a big fight feel about it, and they had another top class match, they always seem to have good matches do Charlotte and Sasha, much like Owens and Zayn, I wont spoil and say what happened, chances are you have seen and or heard about it anyway.

Match made for HIAC which is US title match inside the cell between Reigns and Rusev again (Lana looked :drool::drool::drool: last night!), also it Susan G.Komen breast cancer month on WWE again for the fifth straight year, so everything is Pink again.

Big news regarding the sale of TNA, apparently, TNA has sold it's entire video library to the WWE, and the company itself has also been sold to new owners, who will be revealed shortly.

Also, today is the day we find out if Goldberg is returning to the WWE. According to numerous news sites, Goldberg v Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016 is already a done deal. It'll be interesting to hear what Goldberg has to say on ESPN.

Wonder if that means we'll get to see old TNA ppvs on the WWE network soon.
