Does Counter steering Assist slow you down?

I usually put TCS at 0, ABS at default, CSA at Strong with T300RS.
I feel pretty comfortable with this setup and spin rate reduced like magic.
Without CSA I lost traction and spin several times in one lap but with CSA I don't spin at all.

Someone says CSA only helps those who are with DS4 but I definitely feel it makes my car more stable.
Should I feel ashamed of this and turn off CSA to be a better driver?
Or should I make the most out of it?

What do you think?

theoretically CSA should make you faster. i mean if you're steering is twitchy and inconsistent (mine is on the DS4) then you're pitching the cars weight back and forth playing a weird game of russian roulette every time you take a hard corner.

the downside, from what i can feel, is that the input is laggy and it sort of smooths out your general input. theoretically that would mean that you have less finite control of the car.

Activated the countersteer yesterday in a training session to test what it does. I felt no difference in the 2 laps i did. Also tried to force a reaction by this tool by provoking oversteer and i flipped as easy as always. I dont get what it does lol. Also the butten for oversteer assist never blinked. So no reaction by that tool anytime. I am playing with the g29.

I might be wrong, but i have a feeling CSA works through force feedback in a wheel. (g29 in my case) Wheel seems to help you catch the oversteer by giving you stronger auto steering type of ffb when slipping and lightening the ffb towards the countersteering. In a way CSA is adjusting the direction of ffb.

Has anyone really fast.. Ahem

.. tried if one can still gain time by using csa in a hot lap or is it just a safety net? Is it faster or just easier like tc?

It only helps with RWD cars. it may help with some AWD cars like the WRX (haven't tried it yet, but that car is garbage, atm). And FWD cars it doesn't really do much except maybe introduce some understeer.

Turned off after having it on since launch and I felt very little difference. If anything it gave me more freedom with steering which I like.

it's intrusive if you're used to driving without it. Your naturally tendency is to drive as you would normally, reacting to things that should happen but never do. At least for me it feels, weird and slows me down. This is a hunch but for the folks that feel no difference I will venture to say your ffb settings might be set in a way to favor ffb strenght over detail.

At first it appeared to me that, unlike ABS and traction control which slows the car down, CSA doesn't and it seemed to provide a "free" assist without any downside.

Actually, I can't tell the difference between CSA on or off. If it's modifying the force feedback perhaps that's why I can't tell because I have FFB set low.

Others have claimed that it works only for the controller. I don't know.

I see that the top drivers have it off, so I'm guessing that CSA does slow down the car somewhat, if you're an experienced fast driver.
