Does GT3 support Surround Sound (Dobly or DTS ect.) ?

I was just wondering whether GT3 supports full-on digital surround amps, and whether GT4 will ?

Yes, it states that it does support Dolby Digital. What they don't tell you is that it's Dolby Surround sound, done digitally.

Basically, both rear speakers are mono (Smae sound for each) and you have left right and front.

Even on Dolby Digital DVD's you get nothing more than Dolby Surround Sound. This is true with my, but it's a first generation PS2. Subsequent others may be better.

Thanks Der Alta, well I hope at least GT4 supports full-on DTS or Pro Logic II, as I'm looking to buy a Denon amp with the 5.1 speakers. I know you need the digital optical out cable as well to take advantage of the surround amp as well.

I'm running an Onkyo with DTS and DD. Inifinity Oveture speakers and a Velodyne Sub. The sound of the F1 cars as they thunder through the tunnel at Cote is indeed enjoyable. When getting passed by the 787b is great to hear it come up behind you and then breeze by.

As UB57 will attest, getting the additional speakers is a good thing.

Yep, he was playing on a Mono TV, until he was convinced to hook up a surround sound system and play.

Makes a world of difference in the enjoyment of the game.

How does it hook up? I thought there were only the traditional L/R stereo outs in the funky PS2 connector?

you have a reciever that has many a/v inputs and one v out put and we have 6 a out puts. what you do is you take your Ps2, GameCube, X-box, DVD player, VHS Player, and your wireless media connection, run it into the reciever, and then you can put all of that onto the tv, and get great surround sound.

That's not a tad bit confusing...

I run mine through an Audio Video Receiver. This is what my Dream cast, VHS, DVD and PS2 are all hooked into. The DVD and PS2 are hooked via FIber optic cable, and S-video cable. The VHS and Dream cast are hooked via analog plugs (red and white) and an s-video plug. there is one s-video cable going from the receiver to the TV. Basically all I do is turn the TV on/off. All other sound and switching is via the receiver.

I had purchase a better PS2 connector than it came with. Good old Monster Cable did it up nicely. It does have the s-video and Red/white plugs, but I only use the S-video.

well my dad is runnin 5.1 a speaker onto of the tv, one on either side, two at the back of the room and the all important bass
