Does the anticipation of the next update demonstrate overall dissapointment in GT5?

For me it´s not the lack of less content but more the races... No restrictions... No use of tyre wear, no use of fuel, no use of mechanical damage... For what did they implement it then? I don´t care about the seasonal events... I want the old A-Spec races where you get such excited when you win and get an awesome price car plus better content plus better AI... It´s lame to select slower cars then the AI only to have a bit fun and not lead after lap 1...

There were only a very few races that were fun, the dreamcar challenge maybe... and one or two more...

I also agree, overall the game is an 6/10... The only fun thing in that game is hotlapping... But then, we not even got online leaderboards...

The fun thing for me is playing Online with the best of the best, not some Computer programmed AI that's tuned to the lack of ability to normal gamers.

I just don't get it so much drama lol. Does gt5 have some issue yes every-game does but to hear gt5 is a step back from gt4 is total bs. Or my favorite it feels like an incomplete game. Everyone talks about the aspec/offline is to short but I bet you the people complaining about it 8/10 people still haven't got gold on everything because in my eyes until you gold everything the game is not finished. And my favorite comment is gt4 was better than gt5 or I got more out of gt4 than gt5. Which is bs Imo. I guess I'm different the driving alone in this game will never keep me bored period. There's many things I learn in this game every time I play it. The online racing is a blast with friends and I really give props to the people In the community who take the good out of the game and even the bad and make the best out of it. The guys who do the photo comp the online racing, race reports is the reason why I keep coming on gtplanet. When I come to the planet I come to enjoy interaction with my peers, gt5 hasn't even been out for a year and they are trying to get back in the flow after Japans disaster give it time it will get better.

Why i have to be so categorical? Only becouse i didn't like something?
I'm not saying that being deluded is bad or makes you a bad person. You just accept stuff. But if you look around you will find nicer online sims, better ai, auction houses and all that what people around here asking for. God, just look at those painting chips and useless horns. Its just lazy!

Painting chips/horns are subjective opinion... so yea.

Again you think the horns are bad but me and my boys love the horns when we do pulls on the wangon we use our horns to dictate the race. 40 mph rolls 3 honks and it's full throttle. It's a blast.

All im saying - criticize stuff! That's a way to make thing in GT5 better. Maybe they ll listen to my whining and do smt. Is it bad then?
And about golding. Its unfair to ask all gamers to enjoy their time by beating setted time. Golding is cool, moving toward platinum is nice and respectful goal. Some people can't gold Vettel. Maybe they want more of that nice special Gran Tour, where thing are dynamical and fast and interesting. Just saying, not everyone find pleasure in beating time.
Japans disaster
Cmon, bus drivers there don't get some time to relax and don't go to work.

Golding everything in GT5 is a joke... Ok maybe the sebastian vettel challenge not (haven´t tried it)... But the rest... pff... without restrictions, everybody can get gold in each A-Spec race... Ok there also were no restrictions in GT4 what was an disaster too...

I remember how hard it was in GT4 to get gold... You were so happy when you get gold... but in GT5 they gave you gold even for your farts...

I golded nearly all licenses in the first try... I still have not gold everywere in GT4...

And actually MGS4 got so much ish for long cut scenes and being to movie like, and reviewers would say Kojima should make movies instead of games.

Look in the mirror.

I FOR ONE LOVED MGS4.... been playing it since MGS1. And hated those discriminatory comments against MGS4 as that's the type of gaming experience I pursue in my creations.

Don't tell me about "getting it"...I DO IT.

really who for? We're all interested at this point who you work for. You seem like a big time game maker so it must be a big company right!?

You just said the magic word without restrictions. There are some folks who get the best car tune it to the max so no car in the racing field can match it than come on GTP and complain about how easy aspec/the game is ughh. You not Golding in GT4 like you did in GT5 means nothing. GT5 has better physics which IMO gives the player a better driving connection than GT4.

All of it is subjective, accept for when Kaz says himself the game isn't finished. You fail to address that the creator of the game KAZ as me and other have said, even said the game was not finished and more time would have helped out. To me it seems PD had issues, multiple issues in making this game and just transfered most of the stuff you can get in the game as Tornado has said and there ya go. Second we can criticize the game if we damn well please and we can do it on the site that has the biggest users of the game so maybe just maybe we'll be heard for the next game. Since you yourself said that PD listens to it's player community. And why should he have to play those game, he bought a game that was claimed to be the best sim and yet there are PC sims out there that real professional racers rather use cause they have a better grasp on physics than GT. If you think this is real driving than you've never went or spent any time at track days at your local track in irl. We complain cause we've grown up with GT and fallen in love with the game and know that PD has the talent to make it epic and truly the best racing sim!

Yeah and that is the problem with this restriction thing... I got an friend who mostly plays shooter games... If he plays racing games, then arcade NFS stuff... And then I took a look in his GT5 profile and see that he got golded licenses... And also gold in each race...

I want to have fun with that game so I always took an slow car for an A-Spec event, then its at least a bit of challenge...

FM3 has an very challenging career mode I remeber. You can choose between easy, medium and hard AI mode. The hard AI is ok. Not that hard but you can have some challengeing races wich is great...

In GT5 it´s always the same, you start from #7 and try to overtake #1 within the time... I never had any head to head challenge with the AI...

Like you I am disappointed with the overall experience, there are some things I love about GT & some I hate, but that's always been the case since day 1. I really do think that PD live in a bubble like you said & doubt that much will change, as judging from the sales figures, they have made their money back.

I just hope they have the humility to take note of the excellent Feedback area here on GT Planet & give us GT players/users what we actually need/want, instead of only pursuing their own bizarre & selfish agendas.

I've already stated my point.

PD does listen listen to the community. With each update they've done certain things that the community has wanted. Of course they can't do everything, but they're slowly do what they can.

I don't know what your looking for.

Did the community want rolling starts? worse ai, caps on car xfers? PD is doing things that no-one seems to be requesting. They've spent time plugging loopholes/exploits....but serioulsy, people doing that didn't affect me in any way and if that's what people wanted to do then so what! There's more important issues.

What I'm looking for is a more coherent gaming experience, the in game economy is bunk. To make enough money you have to do the same races time and time and time again. The saesonals help (especially the newr ones with better rewards) BUT use the same old tracks time and time and time again. ONLY 2 reverse tracks so far and both in what I would call not exactly the most popular car groups...Keis and SUVs.

How hard is it to put an option in to reduce the cockpit view screen shake? how hard is it to put in the option to get rid of the gear suggestor thing (getting rid of the ENTIRE hud just for that is NOT a fix it was overkill), how hard would it be to ensure the Ai doesn't back off the throttle when the human player is near...oh wait that was a patched "improvement". How hard would it be to let players down shift from 1st through neutral to reverse when using a wheel so we can use the gas pedal to reverse as opposed to a button on the wheel that when the wheel is all over the shop (which if you require reverse it invariably is!) is a NIGHTMARE to find fast! Especially when In h shift mode I can select reverse and use the gas pedal, so the game supports the concept already they just didn't think to implement it in sequential mode....LAZY or worse... stupid.

The other things I complain about are either being worked on (saves) or are time intensive, tracks, standards, shadows etc. So I don't harp on about them so much.

Yeah, but you're missing one important aspect: Why is the tire technician taking temperature readings for inner thread, center thread and outer thread?

The answer is that it's order to evaluate the tire pressure. At ideal pressure, the temperature should be the same in all three areas. Scince we can't adjust tire pressure in GT5 there's no use for it. We just have to assume that the tire pressure is ideal as it is. That is the ONLY reason to measure tire temperature in inner, center and outer.

In actual racing, tire temperature in three zones is not as important as you may think. The only thing that matters is the tire temperature of the area that's having contact with the track. If the inner thread of the tire is lower temperature than the outer, well that's an interesting fact, but to simulate actual racing it doesn't mean horse-**** because you're only racing on the hot area of the tire (in this case the outer thread) and that is the temperature that you see on the indicator in GT5.

Sure, for setting up the suspension camber and toe it could be nice with some visual cues to see if you're using the entire tire or not, but for the actual simulation of tire grip you only need one temperature for each tire - as that temperature will be the temperature of the part of the tire that's providing (most of) the grip.

and that proves GT5s tyre phsyics are pretty bunk and fudged.

It's pathetic there are people here who feel it's good to keep coming back here and post negativity toward PD and GT5. It's GTPlanet. What's wrong with them? :dunce:

What on earth does this mean?!! Where else can people go to express opinions about GT5?? Unless you're suggested only positive opinions count???

That's an outlook that's very worrying! The internet is about free speech and that includes criticism and negatives.

Of course people will come to GTplanet to discuss the games flaws, where else shall we go??

Your statement is REALLY quite weird and possibly says a lot about you!

THEN PLAY THAT!

you seriously do not get it do you!!

WE WANT TO PLAY AND ENJOY GT5!!!! Why is that so hard to understand?!! STOP TELLING US TO GO AND PLAY SOMETHING ELSE, you are a PR mans NIGHTMARE!!

oh for the record I DO PLAY FORZA 3 ANYWAY!! AS WELL.....SHOCK HORROR!!

I have no problem with people upset with GT5 because in their opinion its half done or it not perfect to their liking but what I find funny is we have plenty of complaining threads why don't folks just post there. This thread title makes me laugh because any game I buy I'm always excited when new content is on the verge even if I love the game I'm still pumped for new content. This thread title however in my opinion tries to set gt5 up for failure by saying because new content might be on the way it shows how disappointed people are but it's all good. As I said before when I come to the planet I wanna have a good time with my peers and figure out ways we can make the game better and help PD make a better game, in that process we are going to have to talk about the negatives and the ways PD can improve GT but the way some folks on the planet go about it thumbs down.

Overall disappointment, yes.
Nothing that can't be fixed with updates or even an 'expansion pack'... the problem seems to be that an abundant source of income for PD does not translate to production quantity..

Does the anticipation of the next update demonstrate overall dissapointment in GT5?

Yes it does. Of course we want moar... they (PD) advertised the game like it was going to be something out of this world :dunce:... just go back to some of the trailers... they were mind blowing!!! And what did we get? A game that has a ton of problems... epic fail shadows, several epic fail sound effects, epic fail b and a-spec... epic fail car selection, epic fail track selection, epic fail AI (list goes on...)... sure, most of the cars & tracks look terrific, we finally got Ferrari and Lamborghini, Nurb looks dead accurate, we have online... but as a whole the high amount of flaws outclasses the good points of the game by a huge margin...

I still believe GT5 has potencial to be a huge, gigantic game... but it's up to PD to make it happen... but so far... I don't see that happening, not anytime soon... sadly :indiff: ... but of course... I'd like to be wrong on this one, I really... REALLY want to be wrong... :)

Frankly I am getting sick of the wait. I want to get the rest of my 24 hr races done, and I'm holding off to see if the update has race saves. I don't want to get burned again by it freezing at 24:00:01 again.

Also holding a glimmer of hope they'll adjust some of the ludicrous times on certain events--and maybe put decent tires on the dang Elise!

Funny that you mention those trailers. I took a trip down memory lane recently and read some article on here that were written prior to GT5's release like Kaz's interviews at the different gaming conventions, GT5 at E3, the delay that occured in October, Kaz finally saying GT5 will be released on Nov. 24, etc.

I will never forget the day I went to GameStop to pick up my CE of GT5. All the anticipation about GT5 as it got closer and closer to finally being out made me and many others think it would be one of the most mind blowing racing games ever created.

And yet, GT5 fails in so many areas that even the previous GTs didn't have trouble in. It failed to have the FUN the previous games had. It's almost a little depressing. A lot of potential was wasted, that's for sure.

I remember it as well... I even skipped college to get my copy :) I thought just the same as you... "ooh man... I'm playing this non-stop 'till I die..."

But here we are, discussing this and saying "Why PD... WHY???" :nervous:

Hell, I'm sure most of us grew up with the game. I mean think of how the anticipation has built up and up with every new release only for you to get the Collector's Edition and come home after a month to find out that most of the stuff you loved like License are moot and that prize cars aren't that great and that all the racing cars you loved and were able to get through hard racing in previous games are now...10 to 20 mil (prices never heard of in past games) which is crap. We grew up longing for the next release and finally comes GT5 and those hopes are haulted... Now we must muster up what hope we have and hope that GT6 wont be an even lazier rendition of GT5

The game is six months old.

The fact that so many people still play it, after all this time, is the reason there is a lot of anticipation for a new update.

I don't get on here much, but for someone who doesn't even own the game I can say this. I like graphics as much as the next guy, but graphics are never more important then content. Which GT5 is sorely lacking in like the career for GT5 if it's that short I'm glad I saved $60. It seems they should have called this GT5P part 2 or 3.

As for the tracks I don't really like Midfield or Apricot Hill like that, but I'd rather they had those in from the beginning it's like not having Trial Mountain in the game.

For a gamer like me I'm not a die hard GT fan I've only played GT3 and GT4(both were great liked GT3 the most). They need to focus more on content like the tracks and more races in A-spec and the AI that is if they can.

Yeah I also thought I would play it for years but then after 2-3 months I gave up my hopes to have fun with that game... only hotlapping, thats what I´m doing when I wan´t to play a bit...

...Naturally I've been playing GT5 since the release date, and must confess that I would rate it a lacklustre 6/10...

That's what gets me, so many people have been playing this game since It's release, over 6 months ago.
Personally I think GT5 is a brilliant game, but I think the reason its fans get so angry about how bad this game is supposed to be, on a website dedicated to the series, is that I think GT5 hasn't lived up to all its hype and expectations, it certainly didn't live up to mine.
Yet I find myself here still playing it almost 8 months down the line and still enjoying it
If the game was that bad I don't think people would bother putting in all these hours into the game.

I think the reason you guys still playing is because you're playing with the logic it's going to get better. Because if I'm not mistaken Kaz promised you guys he was going to be releasing patches to try and fix shortcomings with this game.

We've been waiting for this game for five years and it's a huge step backwards even from GT3. I could understand the shortcomings if this game was launch the next year after the PS3 came back, but it's 2011. With games like NFS: Shift 2, Hot Pursuit 2010, F1, some other racing games whether they be arcade or simulation the bar has been raised. I understand that Kaz strives for a perfect game, but honestly he did with the other games, but he knew the PS2 was limited. I think Kaz eyes got bigger than his head with this game.
